Appearance Variety
#1
I've noticed that items are class restricted here. Which makes character appearance somewhat, limiting. So, if you could allow any item to be wielded by any character of any class, I'd greatly appreciate.

I recall seeing this been done, even.
Mmmm.. Caketown.

It's the same restrictions as on Live, which I find appropriate. I'm fairly confident we won't be changing the class requirements on the tier sets.

What specifically are you wanting to wear, but can't due to class?

You probably saw a GM doing it who was a title trainer.

Look at it from a logical angle, Mages arent usually the big muscular types, so would it make sense that a Mage tries to use a huge 2 handed weapon? Be it Axe, Sword etc?

I personally was having this same problem, I wanted shoulderpads for Mayhew but they're plate.

So what will I do? When I acquire a gold token, I will ask a custom item to be made that is those shoulderpads except leather.

I'd recommend you do the same to earn yourself any specific item you want but can't wear.

Um, I've seen on some servers where they create particular vendors that give the training to any class for certain items. I was just thinking, the prestige classes, could possibly do this. For one, I belive battle mages use a shield and mail armor?

There are other things that could be done like this, like Mayhew, I've had times when I've seen a non-this-class weapon, and I thought to myself. "Hey, I more or less resented Retail servers because of restrictions like this..."

Perhaps, for those whom have gotten to 70, are allowed certain privledges for this type of thing, as after all. They have proven themselves compitent of being able to RP appropriatly. (Like, not having a sensiably nice Gnome warlock with a Pink month for a pet, decked out in plate and weilding the twin blades of Azzinoth)

Again, just one of my thoughts >_>

I don't like the idea of classes wearing armor and weilding arms that weren't meant for them. A mage spends enough time trying to harness his/her power to spend time lifting weights, running laps and so on. I don't think that many of them would be able to be able to hold a two handed sword or plate armor because they'd likely collapse under the weight.

Plate wearers don't have as much of a problem because they can wear every armor class anyway but I see no reason that a warrior should be wearing mages tier armor or a wand, seeing as only the most talented and well trained mages should be wearing it anyway.

Can't battlemages wear cloth anyway? All other mages seem to have no problem going into battle with a robe and staff.

Let mages be mages, warriors be warriors and rogues be rogues.

Yes, any decent Rper knows that a warrior in mage gear is a hidiously stupid idea... But, its why I sujested it be a level 70-thing only. Because we'd be trusting these people whom we belive to be responsiable enough not to do something like that.

As for battle mage thing. Yes, perhaps plate is a -bad- idea. But 2H swords arn't as heavy as they're made out to be. A talented swordsman isn't allways the biggest, and from memory... They didn't pump iron back then, nor did they run laps. It would be every bit possible to encorpirate an magic into fitness training.

As for a battle mages position in a battlefeild, they are the ones (like a paladin) that follow with the infantry (often officers) and lead the fighters. Unlinke normal mages, whom are a more specialist unit, that goes in smaller, high priority situations. It's what I see as the definition between a Battle mage and a Magister.

Also, being in a battle feild, (particulary the loosing side) wars were fought over hours, some even an entire day(Battles, not seiges). And I can garentee... No mage could fight that long with using both spells and magical armour. Sure, they could leave for a brake :? and return.. But it dosn't seem plausable to return to full fighting power in an hours brake.

I see little problem with a mage holding a shield and sword with a bit of mail armour... After all, whats stopping some one from picking a buckler up, its about has heavy as aplate LOL

You'd also have to think about the OOC factor aswell. If you have mages that can weild axes and wear plate then all you need is an enchanter and you can simply:

Summon Water Elemental
Whack
Flameblast
Crit Whack
Loot
Continue

It'll make the process of just ganking and looting gold so much easier. Perhaps the whole prestige can sort out things with armor but I wouldn't feel comfortable with any 70 with the right to wear and weild what they want. I think blizzard has this one set quite nicely really.

Tour comment reffers to PvE... Not RP. I speak from an RP position. Could careless about what people do PvE wise.

Besides, how often do you come across Mage-friendly plate? ((Might I add, I said plate wasn't a good idea))

Thats also an opinion, and Blizzard did that from PvE point of veiw... They don't really care about RPers. I noticed that when they started putting barriers to good RP places, and allowing people to have Char names like "Illinox" And "Arthus" And so on... Oh, not to mention my old server where on guy got away with "Milkurtank" As a Tauren... -_-

Just as a random aside, while they probably didn't have the fitness knowledge we have today, surely even back then they could understand the idea that doing hard work that uses your strength results in making you stronger.

Anyway, I'm fine with the equipment restrictions as they are.

There is, indeed, a LOT of items out there for EVERY kind of armor. Please take a peek, you'll find something you like.

I know, but at least I gave it the effort to try. Who knos, I might have made some kind of point that'd help with something else. As long as I keep bringing sujestions, I'm contributing in some way. Besides, at least i can now say "at least I tried"
