Currency Analysis.

Alright, was requested to post this on the forums. This data comes from the Core Rules v2 of the World of Warcraft: RP Game. Take note that these are only for IC purposes, as we cannot at the moment buy houses and such.

We assume that 1 Silver is 1 Dollar, as researched that a cottage averagely costs $100,000 or more.

Buildings

Castle: 500,000 Gold
The castle is a keep surrounded by a 15-foot stone wall with 4 towers. The wall is 10 feet thick.

Grand House: 5,000 Gold
This 4-10 room grand house is made of wood and has a thatched roof. Perhaps the size of an Inn in-game.

Huge Castle: 1,000,000 Gold
A particularly large keep with numerous associated buildings (stables, forge, granaries and the like) and an elaborate 20-foot high wall creating a bailey and courtyard areas. The wall has 6 towers and is 10 feet thick.

Keep: 150,000 Gold
This fortified stone building has 15-25 rooms.

Mansion: 100,000 Gold
This 10-20 room mansion, has two to three levels and is made of wood and brick. It has a slate roof.

Moat with Bridge: 50,000 Gold
This moat is 15 feet deep and 30 feet wide. The bridge across it may be a wooden drawbridge or a permanent stone structure.

Simple House: 1,000 Gold
This 1-3 room house is made of wood and has a thatched roof.

Tower: 50,000 Gold
This round or square three-level tower is made of stone.

---------------------------------

Transportation

Goblin Zeppelin: 3,640 Gold

Gryphon: 5,000 Gold
These large half-lion, half-eagle beasts make their homes in rugged mountains. Some dwarves tame and breed these flying mounts for use in battle.

Pony: 30 Gold

Nightsaber Panther: 600 Gold

Heavy Horse: 200 Gold

Gnomish Combat Armor: 1,440 Gold

Heavy Warhorse: 400 Gold

Dire Wolf: 600 Gold

Galley: 30,000 Gold
A three-masted ship with seventy oars on either side and a total crew of 200. This ship is 130 feet long and 20 feet wide, and it can carry up to 150 tons of cargo or 250 soldiers. For 8,000 Gold more, it can be fitted with a ram and castles with firing platforms fore, aft and amidships. This ship cannot make sea voyages and sticks to the coast. It moves about 4 miles per hour when being rowed or under sail.

Keelboat: 3,000 Gold
A 50 to 75 foot long ship that is 15 to 20 feet wide and has a few oars to supplement its single mast
with a square sail. It has a crew of 8 to 15 and can carry 40-50 tons of cargo or 100 soldiers. It can make sea voyages as well as sail down rivers. (It has a flat bottom.) It moves about 1 mile per hour.

Longship: 10,000 Gold
A 75 foot long ship with 40 oars and a total crew of 50. It has a single mast and a square sail. It
can carry 50 tons of cargo or 120 soldiers. A longship can make sea voyages. It moves about 3 miles per hour
when being rowed or under sail.

Sailing Ship: 10,000 Gold
This ship is 75 to 90 feet long and 20 feet wide. It has a crew of 20. It can carry cargo up to 150 tons. It has square sails on its two masts and can make sea voyages. It moves about 2 miles per hour.

Warship: 25,000 Gold
This 100 foot long ship has a single mast, although oars can also propel it. It has a crew of 60 to 80 rowers. This ship can carry up to 160 soldiers, but not for long distances, since it does not include room for supplies for that many. The warship cannot make sea voyages and sticks to the coast. It is not used for cargo. It moves about 2 1/2 miles per hour when rowed or under sail.

A little note; The gold cap for one character is somewhat 214,000 gold. This would mean that you cannot have enough gold on one character to buy some of those things.

On another note; My guess is that you are suggestion you should be able to buy these things for gold? Correct? The post was rather unclear about it, in my eyes anyway.

Nope. IC and RP purposes only. We can't buy houses in game, and the custom content at the moment is nicked.

This is pretty cool; it puts a perspective on the value of gold in WoW.

A goblin zepplin looks pretty cheap; but considering how...unstable the typical ones are, that price makes sense.

Still, I'm surprised that a gryphon costs more than a zeppelin. Even if it is a lot more reliable.

Some very useful info indeed!
With the current plans for myself and the Company, there's an overwhelming chance that this info will
be put to good use in the future :)
Just to add something on the Gold, from the "Lands of Mystery"-Book:
Brann Bronzebeard Wrote:With only a few exceptions, such as the quarter-pound coins once minted in Moonbrook, gold coins typically are made three to the ounce, or roughly fifty to the pound.

That goes some way to explain how many ounces of gold you're actually spending on each item :)

There's even costs for messengers and such. Too lazy to post them though.

Anyway, added a few more stuff.

Was using this earlier today, and I really really like it. If you have any more Currency notations, please post them when/if you can. (This might help with the whole IC economy people wanted.)

Updated with armor, weapons, equipment, any anything else that might be useful to the traveler/beggar/noble. I have to say...the contrast between a noble and a peasant is QUITE stark.

This is... very interesting... I'm assuming that 100 silvers is 1 gold... so a gold is like 100 dollars? >_> Anyways, thanks for the reference, makes life a whole lot easier ^^

The difference between noble and peasant really is outstanding. The noble's outfit, 75 gold, is worth 7500 times more than the peasant's outfit, which comes in at 1 silver.

Yup. 1 Silver is roughly a dollar, by comparison to real life costs of stuff.
