Or if you're like me and just enjoy filling out these sorts of things. There are some more modern questions in it, but it generally works with anything. Enjoy!

Brief Life Story


It is very important to write a biography for your character. The more detail you create, the deeper you can make your character, and this rich history will be such a rich source of information that it will change and evolve your story accordingly.

- Did they have a good or bad childhood?
- Has their life worked out like they expected?

This is filled with juicy and thought-provoking questions that explore personal philosophy, morality, politics, knee-jerk reactions, secret fantasies, wishes, and much more. It's also a great party activity to sit around with your friends and pass the book around as you each take turns selecting questions for all to answer.

A. If your character were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would they most regret not having told someone? Why haven't they told them yet?

This is very well done and is an excellent guideline for profiles!

Now I am not saying we should all fill the whole thing out when posting a profile, but rather look through this whenever a GM tells you to flesh out a profile.

What do -you- want people to know about the character? Look through it, find out and add it to the profile!

He left home early and traveled to Stormwind, where he does apprentice work as a blacksmith. He had moved to Stormwind in the hopes of becoming a Paladin, after his father told him, and his two brothers of Uther the Lightbringer, with slightly exaggerated tales of a glowing knight.

Jane spoiled them with her cooking, and Frederick would assign them work on the farm, and tell them stories of the city, the Alliance and the peculiar races of Azeroth, or at least the stories he has heard, and edited.

- living/deceased: Both parents are alive, both live on the farm and they are together.

* Family structure/life: Fairly average for three sons of a farming family, they worked hard on the soil to grow what they could, they were not poor, but they were not wealthy either. Both of his brothers still live on the farm.

Brief Life Story

Daven left the farm he grew up on at the age of 17, and headed to Stormwind, which he had never been to before. At first, the city was daunting, but Daven eventually found work he could do, his father had taught him how to forge basic tools, and he used these skills to convince a blacksmith to take him as an apprentice. He has recently joined the Lambent Sovereignty, and is currently training to be a Paladin.

- What was their life like before the story began?/What was growing up like for them?
It consisted of hard physical labor and what little knowledge his father could pass on of reading, writing and counting.

- Did they have a good or bad childhood?
An average childhood, he was not mistreated, but he had to work hard on his parent's farm.

- Has their life worked out like they expected?
So far, Daven has accomplished his main goal for now- Finding someone to teach him the ways of a Paladin and the Light.

- Has their life been difficult or easy until now?
Life on the farm was easy, in the sense that Daven's daily life took on a familiar routine. This routine was thrown out of the window when he left the farm, and the first three months in Stormwind were tough on him, as he was completely adjusting from farm life to city life.

- Were they forced into their current path, or are they here by choice?
Daven chose to leave the farm, and at the age of 17 he convinced his parents to let him leave.

- Do they have regrets?
In leaving, he forfeited his inheritance of the farm, being the eldest son, he fears he may regret this if his plans in life do not work out.

- Did anything happen in their past that they cannot forget or live down, or that has deeply changed them or scarred them in some way?
Living so close to Duskwood made him very superstitious, and deathly afraid of the Undead, and unnatural (No pun intended).

I don't think this is a good idea maybe just for your own personal use but that thing will just make more work for the GM's as half the stuff isn't even needed. Profiles are there just to get the basic outline of your character and make sure he isn't breaking lore.

Ahah, oh no. :P I never meant that anyone should use it in place of the character profiles. The GMs have a hard enough time as it is checking profiles, I'm sure. As I said, more for your own personal gain. But I'm glad you all like it!
