Scout's Poetry and Prose
#1
There's no place to post fiction that people have made, so I'm going to post this here. This is a ballad I wrote for my creative writing class. Feel free to leave comments.

--

She'd lived a thousand years, or more
In cities and in towns
Her age showed not upon her face
Her smiles nor in her frowns

In solitude she lived her life
None knew of who she was
And as she moved from place to place
She tried to hide her flaws

But in one town that she stopped by
On a cold winter's night
A young man saw her fair pale face
And set his heart alight

He followed her through the alleyways
To find out who she was
His footfalls made her cold with fear
And in her steps she paused

She looked at him with widened eyes
He took a step forward
“Who are you,” he said to her, but
She would not say a word

He waited long for her response
But she said not a word
“Speak to me,” he pleaded of her
And this he finally heard

“I'm a dead girl,” she said to him
“My life is done and through
I was killed a thousand years ago
By a man who looks like you.”

And with that she turned away
And left him on his own
But even as she walked away
In the night, to him, she shone

EDIT: I'm making this more of a general fiction thread and less of a specific this is just one song thread. So I'll post my stuff here.

I see the words Poetry and Prose and come running, and end up glad I read that.

Fantastic stuff, very Poe like. I'd love to read more.

Slapped on my reading glasses and gave this the once over.
It made me smile.
I'm a lover of anything literary, including poetry.
You should start a thread for anyone to post their smaller works in. Then we could all snap our fingers and drink coffee to the relaxed tune of bongo drums and budding artists. :D
Like Anski, I'd love to see more of your stuff.

That was great! :D

I'd love to see more.

A couple more (shorter) poems I wrote for writing exercises today.

Where can I go
That ice cream flows
In river beds
There I have said
I'll go to there
If it's so fair

I walked along a darkened street
In hope perchance a soul I'd meet
And we could share our thoughts as one
In the light of the setting sun
But there was no soul I did meet
As I walked down that darkened street
I hope that soon I will find one
Before the light fades from the sun
