I suppose one could tweak a cat until it fails to fall on its feet in order to discover which part is actually responsible for this feat of agility. A little trimming of the ears sounds like a rather promising starting point. Perhaps next, the whiskers and tail. Perhaps a gadget could be made to ensure that subsequent tests are done consistently and accurately.
