Steam got hacked.
#1
I already said it in the shoutbox, but to raise awareness, I might as well make a thread, since I know a lot of people here use it.

Whelp, Steam did get hacked last Sunday and what was just suspected to be a hack on the forums, turned out to have actually breached the steam database itself. This means that encrypted user data such as passwords and credit card info was compromised, but it's impossible to know if it got stolen. . . Yet. There has been no signs of stolen accounts or weird purchases from credit cards, but keep an eye open for it. And you might wanna change your passwords.

Thanks for the warning. Thankfully I haven't purchased anything on Steam since 2009, but it's nevertheless appreciated.

The best thing to do is change your passwords and use the Steam guard function to de-authorize any other computer from logging onto your Steam account. I did that, and I haven't had anyone jack my credit card to buy weird horse porn. Except me.

So, being the paranoid bastard that I am, I just got back from the bank after changing my debit card number that I once used for a steam purchase.

Never again. Prepaid Cards forever now.
