Stupid Children
#31
Let's face it, the media's scum, imo. They deliberately make people panic and keep giving people the wrong examples of people.

EDIT: Redundant use of 'people' is redundant, hurr.

Some of this, reading through it again, might be a little harsh so...just either skip over it or bear with me. :c

As someone who's taken several Children's Education classes while I was in community college, I really have to say that I find the way we bring kids up these days just...appalling. Everything's been DECLAWED for kids. Not doing well in school? That's alright Jimmy, we'll just make the learning curve so low you could step right over it, because dumbing down academics for our children is a brilliant idea! While kids in Europe and Asia are working hard, studying and maturing into well-rounded young adults, our kids will grab the nearest six-pack and get drunk, high, and have children before they're even eligible for college. We have absolutely NO discipline, and put near to NO effort into teaching kids here in the states, not just academic-wise, but also building up their morals. It's absolutely ridiculous. I recall a quote, "This is so broken it's GOT to be on purpose."

Don't even get me started on the media. I could fill a book with an endless rant about how they have pants for FIVE-YEAR OLDS with the words "Juicy" and "Tease" on the ass, and how they're teaching little girls to dance like Shakira at Libby Lu. People b***h about pedophiles, and yet they're just feeding the fire. When I have a child? I'm going to make sure they wear clothes that fit them.

Now we come to the part of our rant where I complain about cartoons, and how everything (yet again) has been watered down. When I was little, I watched old Disney movies where people died, Ren and Stimpy, and basically anything that is what could be considered today as, "rude, offensive, and disgusting." These days we have, what...are there even any cartoons left on Nickelodeon? Or is it just iCarly and the Jonas Brothers? Heck, even the tiny tyke shows on Nick Jr. are so dumbed down that a rock couldn't benefit from them. Dora the Explorer, where she YELLS THE SAME THING AT YOU ABOUT THREE OR FOUR TIMES, or Eureka's Castle? I bet no one even remembers Eureka's Castle.

Anyway, I could go on for hours and hours writing about this, but...this is my two cents anyway. I do apologize if I offended anyone, but...yeah. xD;;

It's ridiculous how the treatment and bringing up of children is so contradictory these days. Everything in schools (At least in ones I know, 'eh) is so sterile a surgeon would blush deep crimson, but when kids get home they're bombarded with all this Twilight, iCarly and new cartoon rubbish. It's surprising these days that seven year olds don't already know about the berds and the beese yet. Or do they?

Anyway, I'm grateful I grew up just as actually decent TV was only starting to be phased out, I remember shows like Cat and dog, as well as Rocko's facts of life (?). Oh, and there was tiny toons, the show with that one episode that almost made me have a heart attack.

I mean, even spongebob is decent, if only for the style that manages to engage me even as I hit 15 years old. Creeeepay.

TL;DR...

Oh, and for those wondering, yeah this was a pointless post. I needed to write pointlessly though, so I feel good at least.

Move him into the sun—
Gently its touch awoke him once,
At home, whispering of fields half-sown.
Always it woke him, even in France,
Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.

Think how it wakes the seeds,—
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.
Are limbs, so dear-achieved, are sides,
Full-nerved—still warm—too hard to stir?
Was it for this the clay grew tall?
—O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth’s sleep at all?

I liked Twilight the first time I read it.

Then I tried to read the other books.

Then I tried to reread Twilight to get the other books out of my mind.

Then I bought mind bleach.

Life is good.

Kiffles, you are so right. The media has determined what is right for our kids, and so have politicians. The people who "run us" are so convinced they we are morons, that they don't trust the majority of us to educate our own children when it comes as simple as something as entertainment.

Rensin Wrote:Oh, and Twilight. That is ruining the brains of tween girls everywhere, who in the future will be clueless when it comes to -real- relationships.

Don't even get me started.

I am an advocate of literature, and there's nothing other than Twilight that I have deemed unworthy of being prose.

Many people here have heard me rant already about this, and after a certain post I made earlier today, i'm beat from typing.

Sure, it's sad that many children/tweens/teens have done what is mentioned, but there's not much anyone can do to change what people WANT to watch, wear, use, do and read. While it is sad that it's been leading to this direction, it's what the people WANT... which usually "trumps" what people NEED/Should have and do.

Is there a problem with giving out more discipline and regulating what children/tweens/teens do and all that?

Well, yes, since a lot of people today are scared of socialism in the U.S. The economic system really just revolves around what people want, which is why I don't really see a possibility of change in the near future.

And one more note, qouting a comedian you may know:
"If you're mom still drives you to school, you ain't no gangster, pull your pants up!"

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Obligatory post. Ontopic: children of the future aren't stupid. Except for the stupid ones. Complaining about them just puts you in a bad position, because there are good ones out there. And everyone says that about EVERY generation. :\

SEE THE KIDS LISTEN TO THE RAP MUSIC...

I thought you were a good person, Moose. Knowing anything about that phrase has destroyed that belief. For shame.

EDIT: Hey, it's better than the Jonas Brothers.

And then Sergei say "But Ivan is dead"

That is when I realize Sergei was bear.
