Titles
#1
Ok. The whole title thing was my idea. Not going to toss it out.

Some of the original title ideas we had didn't generate any interest. In fact, the whole thing didn't really until some time after. I plan on coming on more often. I know at least two people wanted to talk to Grakor about 'zerker training...Anar, who's player is still away IIRC, and Siv, who I plan on talking to soon.

Anyone else?

While we're at it, what other titles are people wanting to pursue? If we have enough interest in something in particular, I'll see what I can do.
Have you hugged an orc today?

If Siv's gonna do it, I'm sure Rensin will want to as well. Has to keep on par with him, afterall...

I actually think its a great idea
but... theres nothing that a Night Elf druid can become ( :( )
I have another character though, that'd be interested in Assassin training

Something along the lines of Assassin would appeal me also.

Well, I was thinking of maybe making Dascki an archmage. Obviously I'd have to learn and such but I'd be interested to be trained or something. but that would be the only one for me.

since my character is in SI:7 which is an Assassin's league, does that make him an Assassin already. Or am I breaking rules?

Seeing as Esmerelda is already distant from Stormwind, I wouldn't mind her slowly moving herself into necromancy, she can only gain from it. Maybe hard for her to get into that but it would be something she'd be interested in.

Given the recent conversation on this and the fact that I'm relatively new (returning) to the scene. Here is just my initial take on the concept.

The idea itself is great. I can see how this would solve some of the issues we were having pre-reset of everyone wanting to start off as the most bad ass character in town. It's worth keeping and developing and opens the door to some fabulous RP opportunity.

At this point though, I'd say what you currently have available is kind of limiting. As Mikain stated, there isn't even an option for an alliance druid. Further, some classes have many options to pursue while others have one. I've also noticed there is really only one option for characters who are "evil" and only three classes who have access to this.

Now I respect fully the lore in which the titles are based, I also believe that every character of every class has the potential to achieve a mastery within their skill set given appropriate training. But I don't think the current choices allow for that. It's highly unlikely Grakor will train anyone he doesn't think will hold to his ideals, ya? So where is the Dark Jedi to balance the light?

Now for Bella, she'll always be a nub. That's Bella. Achieving Archmage status is not a goal for me (for that character) as it doesn't suit. But I would like to see... I dunno, some kind of advancement options available to all classes and all alignments. Still maintaining, of course, that the work and effort must be done in order to gain any semblance of power.

Here is a few titles to start with, even though they are classed as hero classes I don't see why they have to be, obviously a few might not work.

Again, here are some of the classes that blizzard denied and they said they wouldn't be added to World of Warcraft but again, maybe they could be of some use. Its basically a template. For Instance Druid -> Druid of the Wild.

Some other info taken from wowwiki ( I know it isn't the best of sources, but you get the idea)

Edit: Posted list in new topic to stop this topic getting flooded.

Aye!

There aren't really too many choices for an orc warlock as far as titles goes, but there are different routes to take. For example, one of his major IC-goals is to re-establish connection with the Shadow Council and join, and I could see myself putting the same work/effort into RPing his future success in that instead of a traditional title.

Edit: took the list out in favor of the above post.

Edit: This is a list from supposed WoWs early development days dealing with titles/hero classes:

Balance focused Druid -> Druid of the Talon - think moonkin =P
Feral Druid -> Druid of the Claw
Restoration Druid -> Keeper of the Grove

Beast Mastery Hunter -> Beastmaster
Marksmanship Hunter -> Archer, Rifleman (Dwarf only)
Survival Hunter -> Ranger

Arms Warrior -> Blademaster or Headhunter (Troll only)
Fury Warrior -> Berserker
Protection Warrior -> Guardian

Arcane Mage -> Archmage
Fire Mage -> Pyromancer
Frost Mage -> Ice Sorcerer or Lich (Undead only)

Affliction Warlock -> Bringer of Pain
Demonology Warlock -> Dread Lord
Destruction Warlock -> Blood Mage

Assassination Rogue -> Assassin
Combat Rogue -> Warden
Sublety Rogue -> Shady Thief

Holy Paladin -> Champion of the Light
Protection Paladin -> Mountain King
Retribution Paladin -> Knight of the Silver Hand

Elemental Shaman -> Far Seer
Enhancement Shaman -> Earthshaker
Restoration Shaman -> Shadow Hunter

Discipline Priest -> Archbishop or Priest of the Moon (Night Elf)
Holy Priest -> High Priest
Shadow Priest -> Dark Cleric

This makes perfect sense!
I'm a mad man! Just as weird as any of you! most likely?

I think the main reason we don't have a title class to fit every need is... well, count the number of GMs. Now, divide that by players who would like to earn titles. Now if you take into account getting the GM who plays the trainer and the player who wants the title on at the same time on a regular basis for months on end... It's... a little intimidating.

I just put that list up for some ideas, I still think it should be extremely tough, maybe even close to impossible at times, to obtain a title or even get to start training ICly.

I would like to add Spellbreaker to the list, though I understand that it´s hard to get these things working right.

My post on it, ignore the yada yada stuff at the bottom it´s just me being tired.

Oh, I fully understand this. It's a lot for the GMs to take on. More than I expect of you guys really. But this -is- the only path for advancement you've offered the players. I'm not sure I have a better suggestion as this point. Because really I don't think it's the GMs responsibility to mentor every character that has delusions of grandeur. I guess I just feel that the current options may lead to an unbalanced growth in the character/class/alignment types on the server.
