This is a Brain Storming and there are no wrong answers.
For me it is that:
- it has many non-human playable races
- it has a great spell and character powers engine
- it rewards character progress

Anyways, if any of you are interested in such a thing there is actually a decently large RP community in the game. Mainly on the NA server Balmung in the Aether Data Center. However, that server is one of (if not THE) most populated server and getting in can be a pain. However, there are other sparse groups on other servers such as Jenova, one of the servers I play on. If any of you are interested maybe we can get something going? A link shell for us can be handled, I'd be glad to do so. With that said, FFXIV has a lot of lore to it, with a great deal yet to happen/unknown and open for manipulation IMO and I'm sure there are a few of you out there who at least enjoy the game on it's own like myself.

Today's topic: What are your favorite buffs?
I'm referring to offensive and defensive, active and passive, and everything in-between. I'm also curious as to whether people like triggered buffs (for example, gain attack speed upon getting a critical strike) or "always on" buffs.

Does anyone here play the elder scrolls online? There's actually a pretty large, cohesive roleplay community. Events happen all the time, storylines continue although I personally haven't gotten too involved in any. Also the lore is so rich, the world is so full of life it's a wonderful game to create a character in. Let me know your character names or user-id, post your brief character profiles and talk about some events, guilds, or storyline ideas you would enjoy seeing come to fruition. I know from my past experience that this is a great roleplay community, would love to see some of the dedicated, highbrow, intense roleplay I've seen in this server migrate into Tamriel.

I've been in a bit of a gaming rut.

I've been trying different MMORPGs to find something I enjoy, but haven't really found something I enjoyed as much as in my early time playing. Then I hit a realization while playing Champions Online: I've grown tired of the format itself. Roleplay is a rare exception, when it's consistent. But in this instance I'm referring to the actual games themselves. I get attracted by the settings, but then 15-20 levels in, I just realize it's the same old thing. Kill x number of enemies. Escort this useless NPC that I don't really care about so I can continue the quest line. Gather x number of this item.

So my thoughts have turned back to development as a result of this tedium mixed with an increase in doing web-based software development at work. I have some vague ideas for setting possibilities, but what I want to avoid is making something that will end up like my recent experiences, where a player gets a few levels in and realizes it's the same old thing.

I posed this question in a Skype chat, but I wanted to ask the CotH community at large to get some data and direction to start with. So! The question:

If you could remove/change up to three things about MMORPGs, what would it be?

To start, mine would be:

1) More quests where I actually care about the characters I'm questing for, rather than running arbitrary tasks.
2) Make crafting more fun, where crafting one well-made item in an interesting way is more important than crafting thousands of items in an arbitrary way.
3) Upon creating an awesome introductory experience for new players, that experience should never be oversimplified to make it easier to level subsequent characters, especially at the expense of new players who could benefit from the full experience. In fact, it should be built in a way that a player would actually want to level new characters from zero rather than rush to max level.

So, with a D20 proper server in the works and WoW RP an option again, I've come onto a direction for NWN2 that no one asked for: Modern Day RP.

What I have in the works ATM is the following maps to be available at launch:

Suburban Neighborhood
-With Clubhouse & pool
-four finished house interiors
- ~6 other homes

Downtown Shopping center
-finished interior coffee shop
-one small misc. shop

Downtown City Center
-Custom modeled block including:
--A police station (w/ finished interior)
--A courthouse
--An Office building

City Park
-Typical park fare
-sports field (need vampire baseball)
-Deep, magical forested area
-accessable cave system

City Cemetery
-Crypt
-access to cave system?

Of course, NWN2 is foremost a medieval fantasy setting, so we'll be using medieval placeholders where possible. I will be making custom textures for existing models and new (albeit untextured) models where there isnt an appropriate alternative.

What I need to know from yall is the following:
What races are around? Elves and goblins, vampires, wrewolves and the likes, or just humans with strange powers or perhaps something else entirely?

What mood/theme are yall interested in? Happy little town? (CotH Animal Crossing like) A rough but hopeful world? (WoWlike) Or a world two steps from being the rather nasty smudge on the shoe of an eldritch abomination (Lovecraftlike)
Somewhere inbetween?

What power level do you feel player characters (and the community as a whole) should have? DBZland? Mild mahic conveniences, which can combine together to face great evils? WoWCoth-like?

Do you have any ideas for narratives, types of magic and such you'd rather see?

Where should it be set? I was thinking North Carolina, but any suggestions of other states or countries are good, too.

And, of course, what kind of character and organizations/businesses are you interested in playing? If we have a push for, say, Fireman guilds, I can see what I can do for the alpha.

So. I love me some builder games. There's a couple games out there---one that is dominating the Space builders, Space Engineers.

Space Engineers is unique in a few ways. Destruction is... gorgeous in it. Your ships deform and damage in neat ways. When you battle, it looks like you've battled. AND, it updates -weekly-, and has done so steadily for a year and a half. Tangible, deliciously useful updates. This game is endlessly fun. It's a bit intensive on a computer right now----it's still in ALPHA, but holy moley, it's an amazing alpha.

Now, there's another game that's done by the same group---it's also in alpha, but being developed along side Space Engineers---two different teams, but their are shared concepts. The other game is Medieval Engineers, which comes to steam tomorrow.

Obviously this game is more centered around Medieval tech, sort of a more Wooden/Stone/Crude metal type of gameplay. But... look at the gorgeous castles you can make...

And how they can be destroyed. Yes, this game takes a note from Space Engineers---the damage looks real, and there's something else this game is gonna do/is doing---Structural Integrity. If you weaken something enough, it will -collapse-. This is an extremely early build---so there's a lot of derpy things still, and the Structural Integrity is more of a pain than anything right now, -but- it's beautiful as well. And here's the kicker---they plan to keep this on the same update schedule as Space Engineers. Every Thursday, this game and Space Engineers will turn out new content/fixes.

I cannot gush enough about these games. I will say---they can be daunting at first, but... they can also be extremely fun. If you like to build, check this stuff out. (I'm looking at you @Rigley.)

For further support of various games (and to more easily connect to other community members that may be playing or hosting certain multiplayer games), I recommend the use of Tunngle.

Tunngle emulates Local Area Networks (LANs) so that games that may only have local network support can be played with others on the internet.

Tunngle.net Wrote:Our Local Area Network Emulation allows you to easily play your games on-line just like you would do if your friends brought their computer to your place. Tunngle connects your computer to other computers and creates giant Virtual Networks that you can use to play your LAN Multiplayer games over the Internet. Tunngle LAN Emulation works with virtually any program that has IP based network capabilities. The complete list of supported programs-games is so long that we would need several pages just to print it.

Before Connecting:

Spoiler:

You will want to go into your options and enable UPnP. This will help reduce any connection issues you may have with other players. First, go into your options from the settings menu:

Then, enable UPnP (naturally, this is really only necessary/useful if you are connected to the Internet via a router that supports UPnP):

You should be prompted to restart Tunngle - do so! This will make the setting take effect.

Hey folks,

I know Dae is making some place for NWN2 but I want to get a full blown Persistent World in the universe of Faerun in CotH flavour, so we got control over the events happening and what we're going to do and what not.
Wanting to go for the Sword Coast region, since it's a more known setting where people are more familliar with.

Currently in the process of collecting hakpaks and scripts, alongside some other fixes and a very neat PrC update.

I can go craft the world with 1 or 2 other people but I'd need some other spots filled too.
Dialogue builder and 2 scripters, possibly someone with experience in combining all the stuff being developed into a package for an auto-downloader so folks can join in easily.

A warning before-hand though, development might take a while and it will require patience to complete. But once it is done, we can create memorable experiences!

Leave a message here if you're interested in participating and join the team.

Experience is welcome but not required.

So, Sachi is doing magic, making NWN2 as a replacemrnt 3D, DMable environment ultimately obsolete. So what do we do with NWN2, if anything?
I've taken some time to hone my skills with the map creator toolset, but these generic RP locations are just that: generic.

The two things I need from CotH users are as follows:
Do you want NWN2 still?
What do you want in the NWN maps/settings? (go ahead, make it personal; environments are less finite in NWN than in WoW environments)

Just letting folks know that the Minecraft server is up again!

This time around, I'm using a different server base (MC-Server). I currently have normal authentication enabled, so you'll need to have an actual Minecraft account to log in. Unfortunately, it does not have a map plugin available for it, so no easily finding things.
When first logging in, you will not be able to build. Others will be able to teleport you to them, however, so they can bring you away from harm.

Like before, please post a reply here with your Minecraft username. When you first log in you'll automatically be added to the server database, but I'll need to know when to log into admin and set you as a normal player. Please log in at least once before posting here. I'll also add your name to the new spreadsheet located here.

Currently, Rigley (Kuder) and Reigen (KittyReigen) are set to Mods so they can change a person's gamemode in my absence, but I'll still need to set you as a normal player so you can build.

You can connect to the M/C server at: mc.rpserver.org

Addendum: Something to note about MC-Server is that mob AI and pathing is rather... buggy at the moment. Don't be surprised if you see a bunch of mobs twirling in place. Also, I do not believe they can actually damage you via melee currently.

So recently @Krilari Has rekindled my love for a game called LoL (League of Legends), and I've begun playing it on a regular basis; I thought to myself, 'Pay, why don't you stream this game?', and the answers were a bit conflicting. After hours (minutes) of calculations, theorizing, and using many resources to my advantadge (seriously, all I did was decide I wanted to stream), I decided I wanted to stream League of Legends!

So if you want to watch, go ahead and click this fancy little link right here!
If you have any questions then just leave a reply and I'll try to get back to them A.S.A.P. down below there's a general census (I don't think that's the right word, but I'm sticking with it.) on my stream and stuff.

- I don't rage! Meaning I don't scream or throw a hissy fit, a game is just a game and it's usually no skin off my back.
- I don't currently have a streaming schedule, but this will be edited accordingly. 12 AM - 6 AM EST Mon-Fri
- I may play other games, I may not, it depends!
- I'm likely going to be playing Ranked LoL on my stream, currently I'm at Bronze IV but I was placed in Bronze V. (That's right guys, Pay sucks at LoL)
