It's been five years, and my how it's all flown by. I've spent my last years bragging over my seniority and constantly regaling the tale how I've come to be here and everything. I don't think I have anything quite as fancy this time about. This time I really only have one thing to say- and that is thank you. Thank you all, because you've all had a part. You've all been with me through rough times. Without even knowing it you've made a lot of pains easier to bear, even if it's as simple as a 'hello' on a daily basis. So thank you all. You are wonderful. You are magnificent, even. And I care not for the future because I am glad to call you my friends here and now.

With that said I'll be updating this list frequently as I come upon new little snippets, so be sure to check back in often.

Draenei
  • Draenic influence doesn't seem to extend past the southern reaches of Draenor. Outposts are seen in Nagrand, Talador, and Shadowmoon Valley. However there seems to be no Draenic outposts in Gorgrond or Frostfire Ridge.
  • Auchindoun is not only a grave site, but also a repository of Draenic Souls. This is the closest thing they have to an eternal respite, as it keeps them guarded away from the Burning Legion's thirst for souls.
  • The crystals the Draenei are famous for finally have some explanation. The gems are calcified arcane that have formed underground. The Draenei have perfected a method to cut the gems to produce various effects, including: creating arcane barriers, increasing haste, increasing resilience, and acting as a general power source. There are dedicated positions in society to crystal-carving. These gems also seem to be heavily used by vindicators.
  • Draenei train Fey Dragons from a young age to act as flying mounts once they grow to proper size. As to how long it takes for them to grow is in question, but they have plenty of time.
  • The Rangari are a group of draenei hunters and scouts who scout and spy over the land to gather information. They are led by Exarch Naielle.
  • The Draenic name for Oshu'gun is Genedar.

Orcs
  • Nagrand is the Ancestral land of the Warsong Clan and the Burning Blade Clan.
  • Frostfire Ridge is the Ancestral land of the Frostwolf and Thunderlord Clan.
  • Gorgrond is the Ancestral land of Laughing Skull Clan and the Blackrock clan.
  • We now see the chain of evolution in full. Gron -> Orgron -> Ogre -> Mok'nathal -> Orc.
  • Before Wyverns, orcs seemed to use the Rylak, which are visually similar and display the ability to use a breath attack depending on their birth.
  • Goren are, in matter of fact, a common Draenor pest found in rocky regions and not a Orcish Demon Hunter.
  • Orcish spirits have always been drawn to Oshu'gun, even before the Naaru within felt to darkness.
  • The strength of the Thunderlord Clan is was their sheer numbers.
  • The Frostwolf Clan was rather splintered across Frostfire Ridge, making them for easier prey by the more aggressive clans. Together, however, they are a formidable fighting force.
  • A majority of the Burning Blade Clan are, as their name implies, Blademasters.

Other
  • There are two tiers in Arrakoa Society, the high-born and the outcasts. The High-born Arrakoa throw their enemies from the high tiers of their kingdom into the tainted blood of a dead god. The blood melts their wings away and drives them mad. Anzu has saved the few friendly outcasts we see from insanity.
  • The Ogre empire has spanned all across Draenor, though Shadowmoon Valley seems to be saved from their wrath.

Good Evening everyone! Today (Or tonight, however you want to call it) I'm here to present what will hopefully be a growing tradition of mine here upon the forums. Back in the olden days where dinosaurs roamed the land and Kretol leveled up his first 60 Shaman I had a friend of mine by the name - familiar to some of you- of Piroska. Before she came to CotH she perked my interest in writing and Roleplay in general. One of these ways was through weekly little games that helped challenge my friends and I to adapt and develop our styles as authors. Now she's gone and got herself busy with work. I, however, am still around to continue the tradition somewhat.

Now to the content at hand!

American Sentences is a form of poetry developed by Allen Ginsberg. Good ole Ginsberg spent a fair amount of his later life studying Buddhism and delving into ancient haikus. Eventually he came to adapt these for a more American style. While it follows the same 17-syllable rule it flows as a single linear sentence with no breaks. The most of these poems end up nonsensical and humorous because of such. However that does not yet make them useless. This practice encourages the use of in-line rhyming as well as alliteration in order to form an image that is both concrete and, more often than naught, impossible. For those more interested in looking into the style and history of the American Sentence feel free to look here.

So in basic, the American Sentence follows these simple rules:
  • Contains 17 Syllables. No more, no less.
  • Flows in a linear pattern with no breaks.
  • Is Intentionally nonsensical and impossible.
  • Holds an unexpected surprise at the end.

For example, we have some of Ginsberg's own work to provide an example:

Four skinheads stand in the streetlight rain chatting under an umbrella.

Rainy night on Union square, full moon. Want more poems? Wait till I’m dead.

Of course I've had to try my hand at my own-

Medieval Knights ride down New York Ave, waving their cell phones for signal.

At this point I could use the American Sentence to branch off into a full-blown poem, or just giggle bemusedly at the image in my head. My challenge to you, my friends, for this week is to go ahead and try to make your own American Sentence. Feel free to post multiples, or even go into poems. Currently at the moment I have a number of things on my plate- between thirty or so different characters I have different involvements in different stories and different guilds. However not only that but I've taken on to a few of my characters to lead their own stories. Namely I have Krilari who is to head the Argent Crusade once more and Anthrion who is the current leader of the Ashwatch Vigil.

Now, the problem I find myself running in to is that I have stretched myself well too far and well too thin to really invest in one guild at once, let alone two. So I'm here to take an inventory of what YOU would be most interested in seeing me put my focus on. For the most part I have two specific and one vague option in front of me.

The Argent Crusade

An old one and a good one. The Argent Crusade, for those who might not be as familiar with the organization, is a summation of the Argent Dawn and the Order of the Silver Hand into one neutral faction that caters not to the war of the Horde and Alliance but instead sees to fighting off cultists of both the Scourge and the Twilight Hammer.

In the Catacylsm the Crusade has grown a hint less relevant, but it still has an overwhelmingly heavy presence in the plaguelands which is more than enough for a good storyline.

However, the Argents aren't always sparkles and sunshine. The problem with the Crusade is that it tends to involve a lot of cross-faction RP and doesn't encourage a whole ton of conflict between the various races. If you live for racism and glaring at orcs across the bar, this might not be the option for you.

The Ashwatch Vigil

A bit of a newer creation, but more importantly a creation of my own along with a select few and the influece of their characters. The Ashwatch Vigil is a collection of Night Elves who focus on laying down their lives for the defense of their people and their home- the Ashenvale. Because of this the group is obviously Alliance-affiliated if anything by association.

Since the cataclysm wrought the land the Elves have only had more to fight. Elementals, Orcs, naga, Orcs, Faceless ones, orcs, Twilight Cultists and, of course, orcs.

Sadly the Ashwatch has it's cons as well. First and foremost it is Nigh Elf-Centric, meaning that not only would Horde races fell out of place, but Alliance would be as well save for a select few that wriggle their way in. As well, in a matter of honesty, Night Elf Rp is not quite as wide-spread as other races, making for a dry situation at times.

On this note, I did have an issue running with The Old Elf and the Sea. The matters were mostly of my own, but I want to hear the opinions of others. What could be done better? What else could have happened? Is the story worth reviving or should it be retconned/removed?

Other..?

Of course our third option leaves us with something a bit more to be desired. What if you want a neutral guild that isn't quite as goody-goody two-shoes? Or maybe an Alliance Warband centered more in the Human Lands? What about some Orcs that just want to go home to Draenor? Post your opinions and thoughts. For those I haven’t bragged to told yet, I’m going to be going on a vacation starting immediately tomorrow. My vacation in a bit different in that I’m not going to the Bahamas or Disney or Universal or any such thing. Instead I’m going to be going to what is called The Pennsic War. This is a massive 2 Week camp out hosted by the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA, for short) of which I am a member. Since a fair majority of those I’ve spoken to are rather interested in what I do, I’m going to be updating this post through the days of my vacation, logging the various sights, sounds, and magnificent events. If anyone has any questions or comments, I encourage you to post or PM. I honestly feel the SCA is a wondrous passtime and I’d be more than welcome to help if any of you are interested.

With that out of the way, allow me to introduce you to Gunnar Ståhlberg- My nordic persona.

The Penultimate Day

I sit here in my arid cottage, crouched over tomes lit only by the gracious scrying bowl, it’s waters reflecting an endless light that allows me to write now as I do. It’s not for idle banter that I write at the moment, but for the dream of great conquests. While I’ve lived my life for the past years welting away in this arid landscape I do so thirst for my return to the Great North, to breathe the airs of the chilled summer nights and bask in the suns of the summer’s day. Tonight will be one of much preparation as the journey ahead will be one spanning a day’s worth of travel even by ways of ship or horseback. Once arrived, however, I will join with the great kingdom of the East in their war-camp under the banner of Setmour Swamp. It will be good to don the old colors and lay my grasp on a blade once more.

Alas, all I can do now is snuff the shimmer of my scrying bowl and ready myself for the dawn’s light. The Pennsic War is upon us, and is shall be Glorious.

Eons later Alpha Prime, a previous Druid of the Pack, escaped and with him came the rest, flooding Gilneas and the lands around with horrid half-man, half-wolf beasts now referred to as Worgen. Through great struggles many of the Gilneans found themselves infected with the same disease, but salvation was found with the aid from the same race that caused it all those years prior- the Night Elves. With magical elixers the Gilneans were returned to sanity and began rebuilding their struggle against the invading Forsaken...

However, that's not where our story ends.

Along with the Gilneans freed, so were many of the original worgen. The Druids of the Pack were freed as well and now struggle to reintegrate with Kaldorei society, bearing the weight of a failure that cost many lives back during the great war.

With the backstory covered I'll be getting to the meat of the post now. For those curious about why I'm pointing out the elves in specific it's because the Game Master Team has agreed to allow worgen who are not only of Gilnean origin, but also those who were once upon a time a Night Elf. With this ruling, however, come a few details that need to be addressed:
  • Worgen with this backstory are Night Elves and Night Elves only. No other race would fit.
  • There are only sane Worgen in this route, no feral/uncured Worgen allowed.
  • You CAN NOT go into human form. Druids of the Pack are permanently stuck in Worgen form!
  • Worgen by these means MUST go through the Special Profile process in order to be approved. This also means that the character can not be played until approved.
  • Along with the usual requirements you should also include a brief section regarding why you've chosen this story above playing a 'Normal' (Gilnean) Worgen.

A Two years and six months ago, I was but a wee Sophmore in Highschool. I sat in our computer lab talking with Piroska over her newest discovery - Conquest of the Horde. It was a project. She was a Roleplayer and I wanted to try it out, you know, test the waters some.

Four months later Piroska became a GM.

Two months after that, I became a GM.

Two years after that, I find myself sitting in the midst of my dorm room. Beside me is my friend on his own laptop as I sit and ponder the last years. No, I never became some big jock. Nor was I ever some big popular kid... but I was a good kid. I am happy with how this time was spent because I remained true to myself, and became a better person in result.

This wouldn’t have been possible without you all, my friends. Without CotH I wouldn’t have done as well as I have. Without CotH I would be as smart as I am....

Arguably, I owe being accepted into such a good college to Conquest of the Horde.

But still, I move on into unchartered territory. I’m living on my own, perhaps on my family’s money, but still I am responsible for myself. I sit here beside my friend and he says; “You’re not going to have time for Warcraft anymore man. There’s classes to take, parties to go to.”

What’s unfortunate is that he may be right.

This is by no means a absence post, but instead one of thanks, warning, and apologies.

I thank you CotH for all that you have given me, I thank you the dear friends I have made. But also I warn that I may not be around as much. there will be classes and lectures, clubs and parties, Papers and Tests. It’s time to set my nose to the grindstone.

And thus, I apologize. Most importantly I apologize to the Ash Wardens. I had a concept that was so well built up, yet time and time again I’ve found myself dropping the ball in terms of events and surely it’s not going to get any easier. I’m not going to be dropping the concept, but it’s only going to become harder to lead.

I don’t know what more to say at the moment, but perhaps the words will come to me later.

A Two years and six months ago, I was but a wee Sophmore in Highschool. I sat in our computer lab talking with Piroska over her newest discovery - Conquest of the Horde. It was a project. She was a Roleplayer and I wanted to try it out, you know, test the waters some.

In my opinion? I honestly love them both. People complain that it's too close to pop culture or the Female dance is too cutesy, but... really they're just as fitting as any dance in the game. The difference being these dances are -awesome-.
