His long sessions of astral communication with the spirits of the ancestors have made him a thoughtful and quiet man, who reflects well on words and one speaks when he really has something to say.
He is more attracted to the spirits of the ancestors than to the living because he feels that he can learn more from the first. So he feels rather drawn to those who have a spiritual view of life than those earthly bound simple personalities.

History
Ugnark was raised up in a little village in the plains of Durotar. Since he was young he impressed the elder shaman Wudhaghul of his thinking capabilities and understanding of the elements. So Wudhaghul took him as an adept to teach him to learn from the Spirits and to strengthen the tidings with the elements.
Ugnark and Wudhaghul used to enjoy sitting around a fire in Wudhaghuls ceremony tend around a fire and doing astral travel to the world of the spirits to communicate with the spirits of the ancestors. Or they just sat together and got in touch with the elements and listened to them to understand them and strengthening their bounds with them.

But then there came a time when they felt a turmoil in the elements that was growing stronger. That was just before the Cataclysm. The turmoil within the elements got so strong that the felt that they had to come together with elders from other villages to a shaman counsel to discuss the situation.
When they met the other elder shamans from the other villages in the region they agreed that all have noticed that shattering of the elements and that their spirits they where talking to did not know any counsel on what would that mean or what to do. So the counsel agreed that someone would have to travel to Orgrimmar to ask higher rank shaman for counsel.
Ugnark as being the youngest under them was chosen to do the journey and bring back their counsel and to get trained in the higher skills of shamanism by those higher elders.

So Ugnark set up for the journey to Orgimmar. Reaching there he found that the shaman elders there themselves were nervious and busy and did not have time to receive him and hear his concern.
Then one night he was disturbed by the vision of the spirits also being in upheaval and grief. They urged him to return to his village but they would not answer to his questions for what was going on. He also felt that the elements were completely disturbed and in unpredictable uproar. So very early in the morning he traveled home very worried about what he would find and if everyone from his village would be fine.
But then when he came to the place where once the quiet village has stood he only found a huge crater with burning flames on its ground. When he looked around he found Wudhaghul sitting on a stone staring into the crater. His mentor was in deep grief. As Ugnark looked at him he noticed that he was on an astral journey. So he sat at his side and connected to the world of the spirits. He found him sitting by the spirits of the ancestors. All deepened in sadness. After sitting at their side for a long time Wudhaghul spoke up at once. He told Ugnark that it was some days ago that the ancestors warned him to summon up strength as the elements were up about to get out of control. There was no time left to send for other shamans to help him in the fight to control the uproar of the elements. On the next day Wudhaghul were struggling on his own against the starting Cataclysm as he never had seen one. The ground had opened and swallowed the whole village. He was unable to do anything than only watch who the people drove into the ground and the upcoming flames and hearing their horrible screams and cries.
Coming back to the land of the living Wudhaghul told him that there is nothing to be done anymore at this place and that Ugnark could better serve his people if he would turn back to Orgrimmar to seek for deeper insight, power and domination of the elements.
Deeply impacted by the events Ugnark parted on the next day towards Orgrimmar with the strong conviction to achive higher mastering of the domination of the elements and deeper insight from the world of the spirits.

Hello everyone.

According to this announcement, the rules in the Character Profiles forum have been revised as follows:

When making a profile in the forum, you are free to add the [Peer] or [Staff] tags to your title. As such: "[Staff] John McFee [Blood Elf Warrior]".

The [Peer] tag means that you are allowing and asking for player feedback on your profile, in addition to the staff feedback. This is the default* for Grunt+ profiles. Grunts and above can still use the [Peer] tag to request feedback openly, or use the [Staff] tag to reject it.

The [Staff] tag means that you are shutting player feedback out and requesting that only staff members comment on your profile. This is the default* for Peon profiles. Peons who would like player feedback are encouraged to utilize the Workshop forum for that, instead.

*default tags mean that they don't need to be put in the thread title to be presumed.

Furthermore, a guideline has been established for players posting in other players' profiles as detailed:

When posting to another player's profile, keep in mind that your feedback is only suggestions. Do not present your feedback in a demanding tone, as only staff members can request/demand changes.

Peon profiles in the profile queue will not, at the present time, be open to player posting and Peons cannot override this with the use of the [Peer] tag. See above, in the Thread Tag details.

If a profile has the [Staff] tag, please respect that by also avoiding sending PMs to the poster to provide feedback through that venue unless given specific permission by the player in question. Please avoid sending these PMs to Peons, by default, but instead notify staff members if there's an issue or concern.

So, the restart is here. Ain' that great? Time to repost profiles, be they changed or not, new or old, and the forum helpers will be there to get you into RPing your shiny new level 80 as fast as you can.

Well, yeah. We'll do whatever we can to help you. But what can you do to help yourself? How can you make the process faster for us and you, making your approval a quick walk in the park instead of flying through a hurricane of changes? Well, follow these simple steps:

-> Your forum name has changed, and that's great. You are now 10% more awesome.
Sadly, however, we lack the ability to guess that. If you request a forum name change, please send a PM to a forum helper so we'll know to update the wiki. Otherwise we'll think it's the profile of someone who quit and archive it.

-> Avoid posting an "Unchanged" pre-approved profile. There's been major changes to CotH's lore and timeline post-restart, be it lore, the profile format, or the timeline. Making your profile with the updated information saves us the problem of having to tell you to go do it, and you the problem of having to rewrite large chunks (or maybe all of it) to fit our crazy specifications!

Of course, there's exceptions. Maybe your profile fits the new lore perfectly. Those are few and far between, however, so take heed.

-> Run your profile through a spell checker, or have someone review them. The workshop is your friend on this one, as players are usually more than willing to help with grammar. You can of course also come to a Forum Helper (it's our job) or a GM to help. You could argue that there's no difference between us correcting your typos there and in a PM box, but well, there is. First, we'll have the chance to read your profile beforehand, form an opinion on it, and aid you in a manner which it will be approved faster. Second, we're not really supposed to be fixing typos (Grakor has said this before, I believe, but forum helpers didn't exist back then) as keyboarding is one of our core rules and it should be taken for granted.

-> Highlight changes.

-> Rule of thumb: If you're not sure about the concept, PM it to someone who can tell you whether it'll fly or not.

->Don't be afraid to use the workshop. The workshop isn't just a place to guard your profile until the next week. The workshop is where everyone will be trying to help you make your character that good and ready to get approved and, I'd personally suggest posting the profile in the workshop even if for a single day regardless whether you're 100% sure about it or not. You may be surprised on what they'll find and help you with.

->Use exact numbers. Remember your profile isn't IC. It's a biography of your character, and thusly, writing numbers like "Around 60kg" won't do. Be exact, and write down exact numbers. Refer to this guide for details!

->Try to be as descriptive as you can. I don't expect anyone to write me fifty hundred pages of text that are an amazing read and I'll gladly spend my afternoon drifting away in the imaginary world that is their history. No. In fact, this is mostly for the personality section. Remember there's more than a single facet to your character. He isn't just "friendly", "mean", "funny" or "annoying." He can be sadistic, masochistic, cruel, cold-hearted, interesting, boring, hot-headed, cool-headed, straightforward, manipulative, elaborative, objective, have a tendency for under or over explaining, etc. When you start thinking of your character's experiences, I'm sure a lot of personality is going to appear.

-> With the free-form system, be wary of multiclassing. We now have the freedom to do anything! And that's awesome. Remember, though, that you can do anything within the boundaries of your class. You can use the arcane, the shadow or even the holy light to explain how your hunter enchants his arcane shots, but you can't use it to heal someone, or fling firebolts around as a warrior. Everything has it's limitations.

-> Don't be afraid to ask for help. (See "Don't be afraid to use the workshop") after all, humans make mistakes.

(10-04-2011, 04:55 AM)Delta Wrote: Please give your OOC class in the "Class" field, bracketed, even if it is not your character's IC class. This is for archival purposes, and so that I don't get completely lost when it comes to giving you a wiki category.

Thanks!

->Space your profile correctly. Adding a line after each paragraph or item in your list (much like this list is being made!) will really help both reading and wiki-ing the profiles. Please? Thanks!

-> If you're making a custom variant, pass it through a forum helper or a GM first. That will make the process of approving much faster as more often than not we need to end up waiting for the word of a GM on whether the custom title/power is fair game or not. Knowing it before hand will not only make the GM reply faster to the profile itself (assumed, at least) but also make it easier for us to know whether we can approve you right away or correct something on the profile.

-> If something on your character is unique or contain hazy lore. Add sources. We research as much as we can, but don't expect us to know everything. We also make mistakes. Making it as easy to check your facts as possible means consequentially an easier reply and approval.

->Avoid exact dates! A profile that states "Uthaniel learned spellcraft during his childhood" is less likely to be shot down than "Uthaniel learned spellcraft at the age of five, being taken in during the beginning of the troll wars by his master, Syl'vael". An exact date makes us need to check your entire profile to see if the dates match up, while sticking to your age and being vague regarding when the events occurred ("Uthaniel would eventually join the Alliance in their fight during the second war", as opposed to "In the year X, Uthaniel would join the Alliance during the second war.) makes it easier for the profile to remain widely unchanged and prevents us from having to re-do the timeline with you once, sometimes twice, do all the math and make sure everything adds up. All in all, dates are more trouble than they're worth.

->Post when you make changes!Sadly, there's just -too many profiles- for us to do, even as a -seven man group-. We can't check the edit history of every profile to check if you did the changes we requested or not - So post! It doesn't bump your profile up anymore, and it doesn't affect the time it takes for us to get to you in any way. If anything, it makes you getting approved faster if you notify us that you've edited it!

-> When you notice your profile is getting views but no commentes, yet other profiles posted after you are getting approved, don't fret! It could be that your profile is under review by the FHs and GMs. This doesn't mean anything is horribley wrong, simply that we might find something to be a bit confusing and need to discuss it to make a faster decision in the future should it come up again. Once the discussion is over your profile will be posted in.

Restart Profile Information

Here's a quick and dirty explanation of everything you need to know to write a profile after this restart, for anyone updating or altering their characters.

First, concerning profiles that were existing pre-restart. For profiles that were currently in the system during the cleaning of the boards, your profiles were moved to the Workshop, which was untouched. You may retrieve your profile from there.

For approved profiles that were put on the wiki, they are still there, but recategorized. You may do a search on the wiki for your character's name, and it should come up. You can copy that down and edit as necessary.

Second, changes that will need to be made. First of all, all living death knights are now undead. Secondly, necromancers and runemasters are no longer base classes in their own right, though characters may delve into the powers of necromancy or runic magic on the side of their normal classes/professions.

We will be going more free-form with character classes. With the death of the prestige system, characters will now have a bit more freedom in what they can or cannot do or be. There are several threads in General Discussion talking about the new possibilities.
The timeline has changed, as have the age guidelines. All races mature at roughly the same time, at around age 18-20. Elven lifespans have gone up to a couple thousand. The timeline is within the spoiler, we are starting around year 29, close to year 30:
We are now accepting profiles for post-restart. Please, for the moment, continue to abide by the one profile per week rule, in order to keep from overwhelming the forum helpers. If we feel that we can increase the pace, we will make an announcement to that effect.

In addition, some of these changes are still not reflected in the wiki or other stickies just yet. That will hopefully change soon.

Fortunately, this forum has the option to customize the order in which threads are displayed. Posts in this forum and Initial Approval are now sorted by creation date by default, instead of the last post. This means that any new posts will NOT alter the display order (unless you specifically click on the "Last Post" header to sort by that).

This also means that if a GM or Forum Helper replies to your profile, you'll have to keep a closer eye. This isn't a problem at the moment, but if there are half a page of profiles, I'd suggest to subscribe to your own character profile threads (the option is at the very bottom of the page, on the left side).

In short, this means that discussion from other players in profiles will not alter how quickly a GM/FH will get back to it!

Before starting with a profile, be sure to read about Creating a Character, as well as the Profiles FAQs.

Rules for posting a profile here:

You should have ONE character per topic. Do not make a topic indexing all of your characters.

While you need not necessarily follow the profile template we provided, we highly recommend you do so. If you do not, you will need to impress us with your writing skills while still showing that you put a lot of thought into the character. Profiles in their History and Personality sections MUST have at least ten lines combined in a 1024x786 resolution screen. The profiles forum is only for profiles that you have completed, spell-checked, and have confidence that it is lore-friendly. Incomplete or in-progress profiles should go into the Workshop instead.

Profiles will be followed by an "Approved" or "Denied" post by a GM. If it is denied, we are not obligated to tell you WHY it was denied, you must figure that out yourself. Remember to read the rules and the FAQs!

Shortly after your profile is approved, it will be moved to the Approved Profiles archive (which ONLY GMs CAN SEE), then to the wiki and removed from here.

If your profile is still here, check it! It either has the "denied" stamp or is pending review. (DO NOT PESTER GMs TO LOOK AT YOUR PROFILE.)

If you edit your profile, please edit the original post - it keeps a thread tidy and allows us to not have to copy and paste edited bits together to add into the wiki. If an edit is requested, please ensure to post a reply after making appropriate changes to let us know you've done so.

Also, as much as we hate to quash any potential creativity, please do NOT add color to your profile. While I'm sure several of you can be very astute with creating a very aesthetically-pleasing colored profile, it all ends up getting wasted considering that after the profile is approved and transferred to the wiki, the thread gets sent to an archival forum that only GMs can see. I would highly recommend to just wait until it gets on the wiki before editing it and adding any color or formatting you wish.

Finally, posts in the profiles forums are ordered by thread creation date. Therefore, it is impossible for the order to change based on replies. Feel free to add in replies if any changes are made or the like, as it will not cause you to have to wait longer (considering we check in descending order based on the thread creation time).

NOTE: Of late we've had new players who have come to the server and happily spent their time levelling away rather than posting their profile. It is perfectly acceptable for players to come to this server and not want their level/cash/gift. However, players are required to have a profile posted and approved by the time they reach level 50, otherwise the character will be locked.
