Her padded feet beat against the grasses. He was settling just starting to settle into the horizon, shades of faint lavender softening the sky's apex. A catching of her breath, and she fell to all fours, clawed 'hands' gripping the dirt to pull her forward faster. Soon enough, she found it, and with a stumble righted herself. The Crone was just leaning to set the torch to the pile of stacked logs. A spark, a moment of quiet--then the smoke billowed, and the wood caught. The runner gave a joyous howl to the setting sun, then dashed over to her fellows.
