I feel slightly proud now... Thanks Isadorian, Tharnul the sissy sage is now a compliment :P But aye, I plead guilty...

Though, one thing I wanna say, I tried to play a normal character and actually slightly less than... a stupid normal character(William) But he was pretty much ignored up to the point that I had to start doing these expeditions myself and start making William more authorotive and bossy... by that point William had changed so much that I got bored playing him... I've been trying to sum up the words for the post you made but never could make it so thanks for saying the words that needed to be said! Hope this actually makes ppl think, gave me a few ideas.
Quote:Now, I will agree some people over do some of their profiles with fancy histories, it's a learning experience. This post makes it sound like you don't want any uniquness at all, that you want all normal characters. Sure that can be fun sometimes, but thats just limiting the imagination.

Remember, Azeroth is a far more dnagerous world than earth, when you grow up, 9 times outta 10, your gonna have combat experience, just because war has happened all over the damn place. So in my eyes there is really nothing wrong with knowing how to fight already, your rping someone who actually made it through the scourge plagues, hell, even made it to adulthood. Theres my 2 cents on the whole subject.

N'aww, I'm not saying every character should be normal, but it should be a majority. The main bugger was that people went "<Character name> would totally do x / be x / whack you're ass, you seeing she is xx times better then others of her race." And when I wrote the rant since I kept seeing that over party/whisper/any other chat channel for 2 weeks. I think it was bad roleplaying, without -any- history, background, or any effort at all, that person was suddenly stronger/better listener/faster/accurater then anybody else. Felt like blatant metagaming to me.

If people have a great storyline behind it, if they are older or have fought in three wars, off course they are stronger then the average city liver / guard / peasant. You won't hear me complaining about that, that's logical.

Q.Q Get out of my thread you mean spammy orc!

Quote:The solution I came up with at the time was to find the biggest, nastiest most terrifying self proclaimed demi-god of awesome out of the group and promote him, then set him the task of making all the others fear him.

While not planning to capture a demi-god.. perhaps Ellyn should find a pet so completely nasty, so completely scarred and easily angered that people would fear him. Maybe some former marshal who got fired for something.

On that topic, Ellyn has grown.. meaner and tolerates a lot less then before. Nathaniel found that by being forced to fight a mage without chest armor on. I've got plans for shaving people's heads, making em run with rock backpacks, perhaps even just brand the disobedient ones. And if that fails, we always got the court-martial.

What I'm trying to say is, if you get in as a recruit, a footmen, a soldier.. I expect you to be stubborn, yes. But not that impossible that the officer can't hold any trainings, missions or whatever seeing you're character actually does not fit into the guild at all, character-wise. Doesn't matter how much experience he has, if he's the most stubborn guy on earth doing things when he wants it.. Then he is most likely to be thrown out IC-wise, perhaps have the shittiest mental labor ever invented after a court-martial. Just want to remind that these soldiers, are most likely under contract. And should listen to some degree at least, even when they don't like it. Just like Nathaniel did earlier *Pats on the head*

Ellyn needs a good ol' fashion slapinthefiase.
 Try, and you'll fight three mages naked next time. Did What I meant was!.. Maybe.
I suppose I don't have much to add here, except that I completely understand your frustration, and hope there is a way I can help rectify and reverse this new trend.
