Conquest of the Horde

Full Version: Dual-wielding for all classes?

Something that WoW designers originally removed was the Druid's ability to Dual-wield (this was actually available in Alpha, but removed due to Druids DW two seperate healing weapons - A later fix was made when Shamans were given DW by making all "caster" 1H weapons into Mainhand only to prevent imbalances)

I'd like to know if, for aesthetics, Dual-Wielding could be a trainable skill for each class from some trainer in WSG perhaps?
It's important to note that the Dual wield ability is taught by class trainers, not the weapon masters. It may be more difficult to implement than what the GMs have already done (allowing classes to use all weapons). Just my two cents :3
On this note perhaps allowing any characters to wear plate armor might work. Of course it would unbalance the game but that is not the main focus of CotH. Of course, this could conflict with other things as well, such as the realism of the roleplay if everyone is wearing plate armor.

Just a thought.
I did see somewhere that they wouldn't do this.

Was I wrong?

I'll find a quote, if I can.
If I remember correctly...The reason we are not doing it is for quite a few reasons.

A. We do not want to see mages/priests/warlocks running around with two huge swords/maces/polearms/whatever.

B. Because...I forget. But half the time it is bugged and GMs aren't allowed to give out skills so..

Herpa derpa.

And for the plate armor, we won't do that for the reason that everyone would be wearing it. We just do not want people being n00bs.
Awrh, oh well, there goes the Druid with fist weapons idea.

Thanks for the clarification though. :)

I just want to ask something about the plate thing...
Can that required level be lowered?
Reasoning : Let's say a new member of the community just got into the server the first time, and meets some role-players who end up being rich IC and OOC, and they offer persay... a job as a guard for a noble family... well A guard that is hand to hand melee combat will almost always choose plate... and no matter how i'll experienced you are with fighting... if you're a class that has it, you should be able to wear it at anytime...

PS: If I like completely messed up something, or really off, just delete my post then, I haven't slept for more then 2-4 hours a day so it's beginning to catch up to me when I type and what not.

Thanks! - :) Samantha Tompkins :)
The level requirement for plate is already lowered. As I recall, it's around 20. It may be even lower. I don't remember the exact level; I really didn't pay much attention when leveling and tended to train in batches of 10 levels or so.
It is 20 and that takes less then 2 hours to reach, so having the GMs lower it even more would just be a waste of their time. It seems more convenient just to level to 20 if you ask me.
Hmm.. that is weird... I have a level 30 Tauren warrior unable to buy the skill of plate... so... :?
Are you sure? I have a 20 human warrior with it... Are you using the WSG trainers?
I am...
Hmm... I'll mess with it later I guess...
I will throw this out there. Perhaps they got bugged, I would suggest trying a non WSG trainer. If it doesn't work then... I have no clue.
Alright thanks.
Mostly because the classes mentioned shouldn't be proficient in those sorts of weapons. Sure you could -hold- them, but why would your character choose to duel wield swords when they are trained and more proficient with a staff... or their -magic-, heaven forbid. Heh.
