I have a couple of questions on them, specifically the Knights of the Ebon Blade I suppose. Anyways:

1. Is it possible to have a playable Death Knight who was not killed and raised but was rather corrupted and turned into service under the Scourge?

2. Leading off of that, I know it is frowned upon that a character be tied to any equipment, but what about a Death Knight with a rune blade? If it turns out they could be a turned member I was planning on having my Death Knight's history including him being corrupted by a rune blade that was gifted to him.

I think I remember having another question or two but I can't think of them right now.. thank you in advance though for answering these!
1. Yes, it's definitely possible. I believe it says that in one of these guides, actually.

2. I think that rule is different for Death Knights and their runeblades, since that's backed up by lore. Just don't make it Mary Sue-ish and you'll be fine!

To my understanding of the rules, all death knights are assumed to be Third Generation death knights. In other words, all of them were killed at some point and then mass-resurrected to essentially serve as canon fodder during the battle of Light's Hope Chapel. This is an immutable requirement of all of our players.

According to our wiki's article on death knights:
Quote:Players are only able to claim that they are third generation death knights. Profiles bearing anything else will most likely result in immediate rejection.

A runed blade of some sort is part and partial of the lore behind death knights. However, given the requirement of having been a Third Generation death knight, the weapon cannot be what caused him to become one. I know that there is evidence in lore of being corrupted by a blade and then gradually reaching a state of undeath as time progresses, but I do not believe that this option is available to us.

It's important to note that this doesn't prevent you from being able to use the weapon to either torment or otherwise continue to try to turn your character. This would add an interesting dimension to your character. I do something similar with my dwarven death knight, Hajnal Guthhrafn.

Perhaps another staff member is able to shed light on the matter, but I'm almost-certain that I am correct!

Terant, the first post you listed describes this generation of death knights as being "forcefully risen from a death most likely at Scourge's blade." The second says, "It's generally assumed on Live that this generation of Death Knights died, but that doesn't really mean they are fully undead, nor fully alive."
Actually, Third Generation does not necessarily mean they were killed. There was some argument over it a while ago, but I'm pretty sure we decided to let the players choose whether they were "dead dead" or had come to the Scourge some other way.

Here's the topic about it, in the Lore section:http://www.conquestofthehorde.com/forum/...60&t=12828

Edit: It is assumed that most of them died, since they were mass-produced, but we don't necessarily have a rule about it here since there is no definitive answer from any reliable source, and anything we put in place would just be an assumption.
Well in the time being as this is sorted out I have another question:

3. How close does a runeblade have to be to work? Does it have to be in hand or can it be merely close-by? What if one made it "dance" (referring to the last Blood talent).
I would that that perfectly fine, and rather interesting...Getting knocked out then have your runeblade jump to life to defend it's master..weeeehehehe.
Thank you for the clarification! I have learned something new and oh-so-important today!

Well actually I was referring to the usage of Death Knight abilities themselves. Like if I wanted to use the powers how close in hand would the runeblade have to be?
Death Knights CAN use their powers without the use of their Runeblades, however, the effects are drastically weaker. Consider Runeblades to be an amplifier of a Death Knight's magic.
When would be a realistic time to be turned into a Death Knight yet still part of the Archerus Knights? I was planning on having my death knight corrupted during the Third War. And thank you all for the help by the way, its been helpful.
Any time before the battle of Light's Hope Chapel. They should prolly be raised in Acherus, thus, they should've died/fallen/been knocked unconscious in the Plaguelands or someplace close to Acherus' current position.
I personally think it would also be quiet interesting.

After all, a death-knight needn't be bland.

...Too bland.

What IS the proper rulesake on Death-knight characters? Am I right to assume they have little to no emotions?
The Third War is the main point of corrupted Death Knights, because of Arthas's own corruption. According to a Wowwiki article I can no longer find, most of the original Death Knights were former Paladins, corrupted in some manner.
