I am working on a prestige for my dwarf smithy Kerana and was wondering if anyone knew if the "Skin of Steel" that develops is a permanent change or is it something that can be turned on and off (like stoneform, or for comics fans something akin to what Colossus does but with more of a stone form). I understand from reading that it can be full or partial body.
From what I read it's a passive power that increases, due to your constant work with, you can stick your hands in fire and not even wince. To the highest levels blades can not even pierce your skin. But I don't know if I'm 100% right, just my 20 copper.
Seems that the steel skin is classified as a supernatural ability. It can't be shut off but can be negated by things like anti-magic field, take that as you will.
