No, Cressy's right. However rude it may seem, some people don't know boundaries.

But regardless, the reason we took it down was because... NO ONE used it. Even the Frostbrands only used it a couple of times. It was a good idea in theory, but when put into practice, it simply didn't work.

As many people have already said, common sense is the only thing that'll make money something realistic and not something everyone has tons of. Take for example, my Gladiator, Hawk. He's quite famous, he fights a lot, and Gladiators make a quite a lot of money. He also saves more than he spends, so naturally he's my most wealthy character. But then on the flip side, you have my character Tzekel, who's pretty much dirt poor because he doesn't work for money at all.

All you have to remember is how much your character works, what they do, and more importantly, THAT GOLD DOESN'T GROW ON TREES.
I loved the idea, and tried to use it, but people were like, "Nah, let it be IC." I remember selling some bloodthistle for it once though....
Really, people who have common sense -should- know how to make it work out. Not every character is gonna be rich, but some should be. Like my warlock, Aulten. His family are merchants, but also lead a double life as warlocks. He draws from his family's business whenever he wants to fund his masquerading and demon-binding. Alternatively, Amoraen. He's a poor mercenary who lives in BB and kills for his daily bread.

I think the point of that anecdote was that in the end, you can't really regulate the ingame currency...like, you can't regulate what people get. I view the ingame gold as solely an OOC thing, and am considering making my own IC currency using GHI for one of my guilds. It just works out easier if each group can use their own currency. Think about it, dwarves and night elves won't use the same currency. Just leave it up to the players.

Of course they will. Copper, silver and gold is the universal currency.

That's why you mine it out of the damn ground.

Regardless, it should be left to the players to make their own, working money system. Not the GM staff to shell out tokens or anything.
Still, anything but copper, silver and gold would be essentially worthless outside of the guild, unless it has some kidna trade value.

And Binkleheimer, you made me laugh.

No idea.
Ahem, I didn't actually read Jurkeys post Cressy. : D
