I actually won't be attending this as I can't think of any feasible reason for Gwydd to go, and I'm not going to. So call me a bad RPer if that's the case. :P But naw,

As pertaining to Rensin's comment, I kinda agree with him on that.
I honestly think we should consider this as a non-canon event that just happens once but isn't taken in account to one's history? Just for fun? You know, like those Christmas specials on shows that happen, but never -really- happen?
Not trying to be a downer, but it doesn't seem likely IC. It almost comes off as "hey, I have a prestige.", more than it seems like a viable IC event.
I think you're right, though I do think it would be kinda fun to pit the different prestiges against eachother.

But. That isn't fair to nonprestiges. Besides, being a prestige shouldn't be something special that is a ticket to an event like this, mebbe we make it a real tourny?
Well, it depends. If we made it a tourney where applicants did not apply, but were actually sought out, as the most feared or respected beings that could be found (And were not wrapped up in war, e.x., for the sake of keeping lore characters out, then it could simply be a case of them being prestige by IC coincidence, OOC choice. No mage would really outdo an archmage, for instance, so clearly they would invite the archmage. And so on and so forth. Seems like something the goblins would do to appease the masses, a mortal combat style tournament of epic proportions to bring in high paying crowds of all kinds. :)

A motive for wanting to attend, glory, reputation, arrogance, gold, fame, attention of the opposite sex, scouting out potential threats to whatever cause, there are many many reasons that could be used, and surely anyone can find at least one that would bring their character to venture out for it. Heck, if it -were- run by goblins, just claim that the goblins held a friend or family member hostage, forcing you to compete for their freedom. Good RP is not saying what your character would or would not participate in, after all, but rather finding ways to participate in RP, regardless of if the character would be totally happy about it :)
You guys could run a non-prestige tourney if you want. This is mostly for fun, and yes, maybe it is to show off the prestiges a little and the motive is OOC, but I'm still looking forward to it.

It's not really like a big event anyways, I mean, it's more off the bat and doing it because a lot of people have Monday off.
As far as OOC and IC, I just don't want to take up an IC location for an OOC roleplay. Not to mention people may start PVPing because a certain arena was being used OOCly. I think there'd be a lot of silliness that'd go on that could be disruptive.
I do agree with Wuvvums, if you wish to attend please do, and as Bailey said, they could have been sought out. That would be a fine excuse to go, otherwise everyone else is welcome to watch.
I'm not saying it isn't fair, or that there wouldn't be a reason for people to go... but what defines "prestige" ICly? Do Deathknights and Warlocks fall into this category? That's my point here.
