Race: Nerubian

Model ID: 23821 (Ahn'kahar Spell Flinger)

Requested Duration: Persistent

Location: Primarily the Catacombs and Northrend, but it's entirely likely that he will make excursions elsewhere, though he will likely avoid inhabited areas unless he has an escort, and even then he will do so reluctantly, and with a fair degree of caution.

Usual Garments/Armor: Numerous strands of webbing attach Sazel'ahn's spell book and sacks of various magical and alchemical reagents to his abdomen for easy access. His clothing is otherwise fairly rudimentary, though he seems to wear a hood-like headpiece and a simple shawl.

Other: No special equipment will be necessary. Tier gear for use of traversing Northrend without getting slaughtered would always be a plus, but it's not required.

Alignment: Neutral Evil

Character Purpose: Sazel'ahn's primary role will be as a quest-giver. He will attempt to rally others to his cause, and also set tasks that he wishes to have accomplished. As stated below, he is not at all above working with others to achieve his goals, though he may strive to use people more than work on equal ground. He primarily wants to eliminate the Scourge in Azjol-Nerub, though he would also work to destroy them in other locations, and may have other agendas that he will work to accomplish.

Personality: Sazel'ahn is a particularly driven individual. His main motivation, almost above all else, appears to be the reclamation of Azjol-Nerub and assisting fellow nerubians, with magical learning being secondary. He does not harbor much in the way of hatred for the other races of Azeroth; rather, he views them with a fair degree of amusement, but in a very scientific sense, as one might view a captured animal. Some may catch his interest, but the vast majority of others are primarily seen as means to an end. However, Sazel'ahn, as far as nerubians go, is fairly emotional. He was alive to experience the Scourge invasion of Azjol-Nerub, and he is capable of understanding and, to an extent, sympathizing with the pains of other races. For the most part, however, he comes across as a callous and cold individual. He is very cunning, and will stop at nothing to accomplish his goals.

History:
Spoiler:
Sazel'ahn was hatched from a clutch of eggs within the depths of the Upper Kingdom of Azjol-Nerub, and his time as a spiderling was spent learning his place in nerubian society. Initially, he was slated to become a worker, but he found that he was particularly adept with understanding the difficult concepts of society, and at least plausibly capable of performing magic, if he were properly guided. The young spiderling was taken into the Seers as a result, and was trained in scholarly and arcane arts.

Sazel'ahn grew into a rather accomplished member of society. He became a chronicler and a historian, becoming rather familiar with the history of the Spider Kingdom, and various societies beyond to a somewhat lesser extent. He was also practiced as a lawyer, participating in quite a few cases throughout the city. In addition to this, he was a competent arcanist and alchemist, though he was not exceptional.

When the nerubians first found the Scourge and the spider-lords decided to attack the Lich King, Sazel'ahn was skeptical of their chances. He assumed that the undead plague would overcome Azjol-Nerub, as it had with all other inhabitants of Northrend, and even when it was determined that nerubians were completely immune to the plague, he still determined that the Scourge would have the advantage of numbers. He studied strategy and previous and current battles thoroughly during this time, offering his advice where the spider-lords would listen.

Sazel'ahn still vividly remembers the day that the Scourge invaded Azjol-Nerub with their overwhelming forces of the undead and nathrezim. Like many of the other seers, he did his best to gather as many books and scrolls as possible to bring with him, mainly those relating to history and key accomplishments in various fields, and also many texts on alchemy and arcane magic, as he anticipated that, should he live, he would need to advance his skill as much as possible. Combined with the new threat of the Faceless Ones from within the depths of the Old Kingdom, the Spider Kingdom was completely overrun. The War of the Spider ended rather abruptly soon after, and Sazel'ahn with a group of other survivors from all castes escaped from the ruins of their once-glorious city.

The next years of Sazel'ahn's life were fairly miserable, as he and his fellows attempted to stake out a new life in the wastes of the Dragonblight. Some of the nerubians decided to try to start a new settlement, but Sazel'ahn was intent on reclaiming his former city, or at least collecting more relics from the city that had not been retrieved. He and a band of other rebels traveled through the Dragonblight in the area surrounding Azjol-Nerub, performing guerilla warfare where possible and reclaiming artifacts at every opportunity, even after the war against the Lich King drew to a close.

One day, while making an excursion alone, Sazel'ahn stumbled upon a group of unattended ghouls that had found something. Assuming that they were up to no good, the seer dispatched them swiftly with a flurry of spells. Upon closer inspection, he found a small, blue creature that he had never before seen in his entire life. He could tell that it was vulnerable and weak, and also frightened beyond all imagination. Feeling some amount of pity for the creature, he plucked it up and took it with him back to the camp of insurgents he was traveling with.

The other nerubians in the camp were not particularly impressed with his find, particularly the warriors, who questioned why he did not kill it and put it out of its misery when he found it. Guarding his emotions, Sazel'ahn simply stated that it might come to some use at a later point in time. The others remained resentful, though they allowed him to keep it under the condition that he be its sole caretaker.

Not long afterward, on another excursion in the same area, Sazel'ahn encountered two more of the creatures, though they were full-grown and possessed weapons. They were also fighting former Scourge, so Sazel'ahn assisted them. After the fight, he learned that the creatures were night elves, of whom he had some small prior knowledge from some obscure reading. He inquired as to their purpose in the area, and they informed him that they were searching for the child. Sazel'ahn returned the child to them and, after some further conversation, the nerubian and the night elves parted ways.

Given his small interaction with the night elves, and the fact that it was the Horde and the Alliance that overcame the forces of the Scourge, Sazel'ahn came to the conclusion that if Azjol-Nerub were ever to be reclaimed, then it would require the assistance of races outside of the nerubians. The others in his group were skeptical, especially when Sazel'ahn proposed that they leave Northrend to search for allies or some other method that they had not tried. None of his companions said that they would go with him, but Sazel'ahn was convinced, and he informed them that he would return if he ever found support for their cause. The other nerubians seemed to accept this much, at the very least.

Sazel'ahn extensively scryed throughout Azeroth, searching for a location that would be best convenient for him without leading to his immediate death. The seer spent a very long time setting up for his venture, ensuring to selectively choose texts to take along with him, and meticulously planning every tiny detail so that he would not fail. He teleported himself from Northrend, and set at work almost immediately.

I would like to say that I'm still interested in using this character, and I have undertaken some small revisions.
