I think we need to advertise. I just advertised on MMOwned, waiting for approval. Unfortunately, the shit bla bla is bugged on Ac-Web. The template is this: Copy and paste.

That's a very good idea to increase server population, maybe we can attract some interested and good players with this! Great idea. ^^

Sadly I really don't think we need to be recruiting on public sites to recruit. We've never been a heavily populated server, and we kinda like it that way. Also when we openly recruit on websites, it does put us into more light of Blizzard which in turn could lead to some problems for us down the road. Also I suggest not trying to do open recruiting like this without talking with Kretol first.

Ew. I don't really think advertising on MMOwned shall cause us problems. Afterall, a server on 2000 gets shutted down. Look at WoWScape, EchelonedWoW. WoWScape was closed for profit, millions of dollars. EchelonedWoW for Cataclysm content and other shit. We're just a common server, like others. boooh loltime.

Google "Private wow RP server" and you'll find CotH at the top of the list. Do we truly need more? Let's not grow too big and get the blizz-hammer to shut us down. Quality -> Quantity. ^.~

Regardless, though, Mincer. If you really do want to run an advertisement campaign, I'd suggest you speak to Kretol about it first to get his thoughts on it.

Just two things I believe, lead false information.

No, seriously. Don't advertise. It will only lead to the ban(C&D)hammer getting dropped. I'd advise you to kill the ad as it's not needed and stupid.
And yes, Blizzard does check those sites on occasion.
And yes, CotH can get shut down. In the end, it is still a private server and a violation of Blizzard ToS. Even if it isn't for profit, it can still legally be shut down.

tl'dr: Don't advertise. At all. Ever.

There are instances of Blizzard actually checking those sites.
I think any risk of shutting down should be avoided, as CotH can be argued to be a violation of the Blizzard ToS rather easily.

tl'dr: Not our server, it's owned by someone else - so their call.

As soon as the post gets approved, I'm removing that.

I would stay away from MMOwned. I noticed part of their forums is devoted to botting and other programs for wow, as well as gold selling, which are both questionable practices on retail :/

This thread has outlived its purpose. We've established that there shouldn't be any advertisements and all that junk, wouldn't it be better if it was locked now?
