That's very, very likely not going to happen, then. I asked about daggers for paladins and DKs, but the server's not going to budge on giving any gear that characters don't have in-game because it sets a precedent that leads to trouble.
Problem is, then you get odd classes using shields, and even if it's possible to wield something like that, it's another to wear it effectively. It's one of those things where if it's done, might as well do it for everything else too.
Well what of the glaives? Not every Elf can use them, yet their up to be bought. I believe the shields would be more of a matter of trusting another then saying -everyone- will have a shield. Perhaps a priest only uses a shield without a weapon simply because she didn't learn many spells? Perhaps a mage was once a footman who knew how to use a shield and old habits die hard? Yes, there is a potential abuse, but how about it becomes a spawn item, similar to a Blademaster Shamino where you have to have a reason on why you have it.
