Chapter fifteen: Exile.
Spoiler:
It felt like a day since Sangreala had went to practice, her mind was burning and the hunger was driving her crazy, the voices kept at their constant torment to her as she walked back, exhausted, to the old smith to find Caidrah rubbing her palms together as she smiled deviously to Sangreala, "Ah, there you are, my pet. I have taken the liberty of meeting your love for myself." Sangreala's heart sank, her eyes widened as she became more as she yelled out "You what?!" Mother simply kept at her devious smile "Worry not, Sangreala. I have not killed her." She assured her, but Sangreala knew better then to remain calm at her assurance... She was up to something.
"What did you do?" Sangreala asked, she could not pull her heart back up, not quite yet... Mother tilted her head, "We spoke for a short while, discussed certain matters. Then we parted." her lips never left their devious grin as Sangreala asked "What did you say?" Mother simply responded "We discussed your relationship, the fact that you are my daughter and that I don't trust her friends." Sangreala frowned a bit as she walked closer "You did something else... You have that smile of yours on."
Mother inhaled a sharp breath as she sneered, "If I had, I wouldn't hesitate to admit it. Infact, you make me wish I had. Just so that I could see your ego shatter." Sangreala gulped a bit as she went pale "N-no... None of that matter... I just got with good terms with one of her friends today..." Caidrah snorted as she paced over to the doorway, as she generally does. "Which?" Sangreala's mind struggled under the weight of her addiction, her body cried out for more of the blood she lusted for as she eventually blurted out weakly "Sathia." Mother laughed hollowly "Paranoid that I'm going to kill Kelarria? Or are you paranoid that I've told her every single one of your darkest secrets?" Sangreala's heart sank, she went pale... Her mind was attacked by rage, the voices barked violently "SLAY!! DESTROY!!" As Sangreala stared at Mother angrily "YOU DID WHAT?!" Mother paused to emit a prolonged chortle, "You see, your paranoia consumes you." Sangreala groaned a bit as she crossed her arms "Paranoia is what keeps us alive."
Mother narrowed her eyes, "I am hardly paranoid at all. I have no reason to be, I could eliminate every single one of those morons in that clique. You know it as well as I." Sangreala nodded once "Yes mother..." She began scratching at her arm again, biting her lower lip as she grumbled to herself. Mother arched a brow as she gazed down at Sangreala, "What now?" Sangreala simply shrugged unknowingly "Not a clue... This is driving me -crazy-." Mother kept at her raised eyebrow "The addiction?" This caused Sangreala to get cheeky... Perhaps that's what led to the following events? "No the fact I hate my clo- Yes the damn addiction!"
"Continue with your attitude, my pet, and there will be no end to it." Was Mother's response... And it worked flawlessly, the thought petrified Sangreala.
Sangreala grunted and fell to her knees sweating and shaking her head "Please no... P-please! One dose..." She groaned as she went pale.
Mother simply smirked as she gazed down the bridge of her nose, "Slit your throat and I'll give you a dose." The thought actually appealed to Sangreala... No! She would not break, not so easily, she thought to herself as she spoke "A-are you serious?! T-that would kill m-me!"
Mother kept at her cold devious smile "Think about it, think about those last few seconds before your life force diminishes you would have quenched that thirst for more of my blood." Oh by fel the thoughts were intoxicating, the thought of red liquid drank like water... Of the sweet flavor of relief, the high afterwards... The surge of power! But no... No! The mission, remember the mission! Sangreala grunted a bit as she shook actually seeming to consider as she shook her head "No... I-I will n-not break... I will n-not end... Not like this..."
Mother lowered her tone to a whisper, only just audible. "Do it. Slit your throat, and you can gorge yourself on my blood before you die." Oh those thoughts... They were driven out! Her voices barked at them, they bared their teeth and scared away the need! Like when she was a little girl... They whispered in her head "You are ssssssstrong... Do not break! Don't you dare!" Sangreala groaned a bit as she stood yelling "I SAID NO!!" she yelled to the top of her lungs, Mother gave her a look... One that she could never forget, one of disappointment as she spoke "A daughter of mine would be able to carry out a mundane task such as this, but you? No, you are incapable, I am done with you."
"Done with you?! How dare's she?! Kill it! Burn it! Eat it while it screams!! Gorge yourself!!" The voices screamed as Mother walked away... Sangreala shot a bolt of shadows near her feet as she began arguing with her... To every thing she said, Mother had a cold sharp answer.
"You are not done with me!"
"Aren't I?"
"You are -not-!"
"I regret ever believing you were capable of being my daughter, I see why you were unloved, in your past. I see why you've been treat the way you have."
Sangreala bared her teeth snarling at her, her hands lighting in a similliar display, although weaker of Fel-fire as she flinched "I will fight you teeth and nail to prove to you I am worthy!! Wether you want it or not!" Caidrah paused a moment to sneer, "You are a burden, leave my sight."
Sangreala sent a message in tears to her love... And began her long journey into exile... She made her way slowly to the Blasted land struggling with every step and every thought, her thoughts were dazed, her feet hurt but she marched on until she finally reached a valley, it was narrow and the land was scorched... In front of her, the dark portal.
"S-Sangreala?" Sangreala's heart sank, no no not now! Not here! She begged. Sangreala turned back to Kelarria, tears in her eyes as she worded out the word no, she simply shook her head slowly as she turned her gaze back to the portal. "Sang- Why are you leaving? What's wrong?" Kelarria asked, she showed genuine care... Something Sangreala had long forgotten, as she turned back tearing and shook her head again "Stay back!! Stay away from me!!" Sangreala could not bear it, she was disowned by everything... By everyone, "Why are you doing this, Sang? You said you never had someone like me, so why leave now?" Kelarria asked, she was stronger then Sangreala... She wasn't crying, she held together.
Sangreala broke into tears as she spoke "Leave me!! I begged you to hate me!! I begged you!" Her scars showed glinting against the light, her body felt weak and so did her mind, why couldn't she just leave her? "You begged me to but I don't hate you. Why do you want me to hate you?" Kelarria's voice was soft... Caring... Something Sangreala didn't deserve, "Leave! Weakness! Do not succumb!" The voices in her head yelled, they hissed, they barked at her thought to stay put as Sangreala wept as she turned away and began walking away "I'm a burden... I should have been dead in birth!" She walked slowly and painfully as she whispered "Goodbye... My love..."
Kelarria didn't give up so easily, she gave chase "Stop, Sangreala!" She yelled after her as she chased her, "I never said you were a burden. So why do you think you are no-" She quickly fell on her knees as Sangreala cast a curse upon her in order to weaken her... She hated herself, she attacked the one person she ever cared about... And for once in her life, the voices weren't there. Sangreala sobbed "You loved me... It made me weak! It made me a burden!" Sangreala hurled a bolt of green shadows towards Kelarria to push her back. Kelarria took the bolt straight to the chest, gasping loudly as she fell to her knees, and just standing upright again. Sangreala sobbed as she wiped her eyes, tears continued to stream down her scarred cheeks shifting on her scars as she attempted blast at Kelarria with a bolt of shadows "Leave!! I'm begging you!!"
Kelarria again takes the bolt to the chest, crying out in pain this time. She falls to her knees, and finds it hard to stand back up " ...Why, Sang?" She spoke in pain, Sangreala couldn't take it anymore... She just wanted to be left alone, and now she was attacking her love. Sangreala held her hand high, it glinted with a ghostly green light as she glared down to Kelarria with tears in her eyes as she simply shut off the curse and walked away "Forget me... Forget Sangreala... forget everything..."
Kelarria stood and started to half run, half stagger after Sangreala. "Stop.. Please.." As she caught up she put a hand on Sangreala's shoulder... It felt warm, it felt alive... Sangreala shook her head as she continued her march sobbing quietly, her fists clenching as she turned back to Kelarria and slapped her hard "STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!"
Moments stopped, the air stopped entering Sangreala's lungs... Everything felt wrong, everything was dead... She ran, she ran as fast as she could to the portal only to stop at it's entrance, she shook heavily as she stared up into the doorway to other worlds... She whispered in tears "So this is goodbye..." As she entered the portal sobbing, she heard Kelarria yell after her "Sangreala!!!" But it was too late, she had already moved to the other side... And she began to run, she did not know where, but she ran for what felt like hours until her legs gave in, her lungs felt like they were on fire as she fell on her knees sobbing and cursing at whatever she could... There was nothing, she was nothing!
She had no idea how long she sat there hopelessly, waiting for a roaming demon to come and put her out of her misery... One never came, she was alone, completely alone as finally she heard footsteps, she turned around to see Belzerial and Kelarria catching up to her as Kelarria spoke "...I won't let you go, Sangreala." Why?! Why does she come for me when I need to die?! Sangreala thought in her misery, her voices were conflicting among themselves "Kill her! No love her! Eat her! Kiss her! Wrong! Right! Up! Down!" They were tearing her apart from the inside as Kelarria spoke again "Sang.. Let's get out of this place.. Go back to Silvermoon.."
"I think not." Belzerial offered a devil's smile, "You now reside in Draenor with Sangreala." Kelarria spoke, her voice was fierce and had care in it... Why couldn't Sangreala be that strong? Why was she defending her? "I refuse to stay in this wretched place." Belzerial stepped forward, as she sneered down at Kelarria. "Kill you? I think not, you may ask your beloved what misery I put my captives through." Sangreala silently felt her cheeks slowly, tears constantly falling from her eyes.
Kelarria grabbed a portion of the broken shaft of her staff that was hanging by her side, about as long as a swords hilt. She holds it up for a bit, and a shimmering blue light extends along it. An icy blade, she spoke again "You're the one that made her like this, aren't you?" There was anger in her voice, anger from a caring source... Not just mindless rage as Sangreala knew. Belzerial unsheathed her own blade, "You are foolish to deny my authority over you, I have the strength to break every bone in your body, yet you stand against me."
Belzerial beared her teeth once again, as she gripped the hilt of her blade. Her burning fel green eyes felt as if they could stare hatefully into Kelarria's soul, she spoke in Eredun but Sangreala understood it all too well... "Come to my side my pet, your actions will be punished and rewarded by blood." Sangreala sobbed softly as she whispered faintly to who knows who "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." As she stood by Belzerial's side. "I suppose this is where I die, isn't it?" Kelarria spoke a bit sadly, she kept her gaze at Sangreala the whole time, a pleading look in her eyes as she clenched her hand around her icy blade. "What can I say, my pet? My daughter loves you." Belzerial spoke, she clenched her blade confidently with a devious grin "You can surrender, or I will take you by force." Sangreala pleaded Kelarria with her eyes, she shook her head in a begging manner.
Kelarria is quietly reaching into a pack behind her back, looking Belzerial in her eyes. "You will likely have to kill me." She breaks a small charm in her pack. Sangreala held her hands on her mouth as a gasp, almost on the line of a scream escaped her lips she stared at the lunging "Kelarria!!" She yelled with conern as she stared off at the blank space where she stood as Belzerial lunged her blade there, she quickly turned back and gave chase to her... The Fel-sworn was far too fast, and she quickly got near Kelarria to strike.
Kelarria looks at Belzerial. A slight snapping sound behind her back, and she threw her arm forwards, almost as if she was reaching out to Sangreala. A spike of ice shoots from the ground behind her, and impales her through her back, coming straight out of her. Sangreala let out a scream of terror as she looked to the impaled Kelarria, she ran over there darting over "KELARRIA!!!" She sobbed uncontrollably as her love fell off the spike of ice against the ground, her chest had a hole in it as she kept tearing sobbing uncontrollably looking down to her kneeling beside her body.
Belzerial sighed, as she stepped towards Kelarria's 'corpse'. Reeling her fist back, she smacked Sangreala in the face. "Get out of the way you moron! I tire of your childish behaviour for one day!" The slap burnt, it felt like she was slapped by a Fel-guard... That's when she realized it... This was a trial, Belzerial wanted to make her feel how it was like to be alone, to be truly without anyone... And it worked, Belzerial took Sangreala back under her wing, and ordered her to follow.
And so they returned to Deadwind pass, where this whole nightmare began... Sangreala hated this place, it brought back every painful moment of her breaking. She started digging a grave for Kelarria with her hands, she constantly took break to hold her hands... When suddenly she felt a soft press against her hand. Sangreala's eyes widened, she knelt down by Kelarria to speak to her in whispers... She was alive... Thank the gods she thought to herself as she cried silently and happily, Sangreala buried no one that day as Belzerial returned.
"Are you finished?" Belzerial held her cold stare as Sangreala nodded, Mother simply stared coldly in Sangreala's direction, "And have you forgotten?" To that Sangreala shook her head "I... I can not forget about her... But now... That does not matter now does it..." Her words were bitter and cold, she understood Mother now... She understood where she was heading. Mother inhaled a sharp breath as she stepped towards Sangreala, reaching around her as if to embrace her. "Now, my daughter, you will have no choice but to forget." Sangreala nodded once, speaking bitterly and hatefully... Mother seemed to like that "It will be washed away... All memory will... Love is weakness... A weakness I must remove..."
Mother put a hand to her cheek, as she turned her head towards her. Her long, black talons gently scraped the side of her head. "Indeed it is." Sangreala kept a dead look in her eyes, her lips were bruised and cut and the talons didn't seem to bother her as she spoke blankly "What happens now?" Mother then smiled, as she grasped Sangreala's hair in a bunch and yanked it back. Her claws raked Sangreala's cheek as she whispered in to her ear in a harsh tone. "... And what did you -hope- to gain by talking to me like I was filth?" It hurt greatly, Sangreala let out a short grunt at the yank as she closed her eyes a bit in pain "It was t-the hunger... The addiction makes me stupid! F-forgive me... Mistress..."
Caidrah snarled into her ear as she bit into the opposite cheek, "You think I will believe that nonsense?! You -disobeyed- me countless times!" Sangreala felt her scar opening, blood began to pour and squirt from her opened cheek as Sangreala grunted in pain at the bite but couldn't help but blush a bit "I tell you it was the hu-hunger!! Forgiveness! I'm s-sorry!" Mother snarled "I should rip your throat out, you whore. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't."
After a few long moments Mother cackled darkly as she licked the blood from her wound, releasing her hair as she pushed her to the ground. "You -fail- to give me a reason! All I hear is nonsense, nonsense and more nonsense!" Sangreala fell on her back holding her now opened cheek as she panted heavily and coughed a bit "B-because I am loyal... Because y-you know I would never betray you..." Mother simply snorted, she spat reddened saliva to the ground. "Stand up."
Sangreala stood up as commanded, she held her cheek, blood rushing down her neck as she panted a bit. Mother reeled back her fist as she stood, backhanding Sangreala across the face and as she'd reel back herself, she punched Sangreala in the shoulder. "What would be your worst fear, what would you hate for me to do the most, I wonder? Depriving you of my Blood only makes you into more an ignorant b***h, Killing your beloved only makes you stare at me blankly. What, then? What would terrify you beyond measure?" Sangreala grunts a bit as she stumbled back a bit and stayed quiet for a few moments, her cheek swelling up and getting blue as she finally spoke silently "Remembering my childhood..."
The memories flushed back... The beatings, the daily mental torment, the weeping... Every gruesome detail of it flushing her mind with sorrow and agony as Sangreala shook and went pale "M-my father used to hit me... He b-blamed me for his wife's death... I still have nightmares..." She went pale and stiff at the memories. Mother laughed, "First your mother," she then gestured to the disturbed earth, "... And now this." Sangreala began shaking a bit, her lips quivering as tears slowly brought to her eyes she whispered pleadingly "P-please... No..." Caidrah sneered as she lunged forward, grasping Sangreala's collar as she pulled her closer. "... And I'd have done much, much worse... His beating are -nothing- compared to what I will do to you." Sangreala gasped a bit as she found herself staring in the eyes of the woman infront of her as she stuttered, but couldn't seem to get any words out, eventually she managed to compose something "I-I was j-just a child..."
"Silence that quivering tongue, lest I break your jaw again. Wherever you tread, those behind you seem to fall ill or die in your wake." Mother began dragging Sangreala by her hair "We return to the plague lands." And tossed her forward on the ground as they began their long march...
A torn page, may be found... On a cold day, when the wind whistles in your ears in the dead wind pass, one might hear... One might see this story unfold.
"She never had anyone to call her own, in her life it felt like. She was scarred emotionally, physically.. But I cared for her anyway. I think I loved her, actually. Behind the scars on her body, the hard exterior, there was someone who just wanted to be loved. And I loved her. And she loved me too."
Kelarria rubbed her watery eyes as she recorded her thoughts, gritting her teeth to fight back the tears.
"She never had anyone, or anything. Except me. I managed to bring happiness to someone who desperately needed it. I know that soon, the Sangreala I loved will be gone. But that's all I need to remember. The good person inside of her."
A tear drops onto the page, leaving a wet spot. She moves away from her journal to wipe off her face, her lip trembling. She shook her head, and continued.
"If by some stroke of chance you ever find this, Sangreala... If I never get the chance to tell you in person... I love you. Until the day I die, I will remember you, and you will remain close to my heart. You aren't a monster, you aren't some ugly beast. You're more beautiful than I ever will be, and in those few short days, I loved you more than should have ever been possible."
Kelarria let out a quiet sob, walking away from her journal to recollect herself for a while. It'd be quite some time later.
"I hope that one day, after we both have died, we meet again. Or perhaps we are reborn, and our paths will once more intertwine. Goodbye, Sangreala."
"What did you do?" Sangreala asked, she could not pull her heart back up, not quite yet... Mother tilted her head, "We spoke for a short while, discussed certain matters. Then we parted." her lips never left their devious grin as Sangreala asked "What did you say?" Kelarria looks at Belzerial.
