So, gauging interest - would folks be interested in potentially participating in a lottery?

Tentative rules would be as follows:

You may purchase numbers for 20 10 gold each (up to a maximum of five can be purchased by a player per week).
  • A list of every number and their corresponding 'owners' will be listed in that particular lottery period's table.
  • Each two-week lottery span (timeframe subject to change) will start on a Monday and end on a Sunday.
  • Drawings will be held Saturday evenings, with several folks as witnesses, if available. A screenshot will be taken of the drawn number (which will be simulated with a /random) and the present witnesses.
  • Winnings will be sent via mail to the lucky person whose number is 'drawn,' unless the person is present as a witness during the drawing

Purchasing Tickets (Numbers)
Method One: In person, by trading the amount needed for how many tickets you wish to purchase (again, up to a maximum of five) to me. In return, I will give you your number(s) and note you and your assigned numbers in the spreadsheet.
Method Two: Via mail, with the same general procedure as above. I will reply with your assigned ticket numbers, or send you a tell with your numbers if you are online at the time.

Note that I would probably include extra things intermittently and possibly provide a "runner-up" prize for a second drawn number. I'd likely also double the pot so as to make the investment a bit more... appealing.
As an example, folks would be able to see who has what number here.
....I have such terrible gambling habits.

I'd do it just to see if I had good luck.
I think it sounds fun and interesting. I'm not much of a gambler but I think some people might give it a try.

Also in such a small community your chances of winning might actually be pretty good.
... I'd do it, but have such terrible luck that I'll keep asking myself why I do it.

*Eye-twitch* I recommend for you Kretlol, to only use method 2 else you'll be spammed to dead even worse each time you log in. And unless you got yourself more free time, that may not be something you'll stand for long. :P
Sounds cool.

I'd suggest perhaps special prizes, as in not-cash-or-stuff-you-can-buy-with-cash.

Also, perhaps this could bleed into IC?

Also I suspect that at a cap of only 10.ticket (50 max) virtually everyone will always buy the max. I'd suggest 20 or more, to keep spam low and winnings high.

Aye, that's probably a good idea. Perhaps option 1 I'd only make available right before I do the rolls on Sunday evening.

- Yus, I was planning to include extra prizes, though I'd have to find items that'd be a bit more valuable (or not easy to acquire, as you implied).
- As far as IC goes, I have to admit the auction last night was fun. Perhaps I'd make the lottery thing something held by Grogporter, and the drawing could be done in Ratchet or somewhere neutral.
- As far as the ticket value goes, I wasn't sure what would be ideal and what most folks consider a fair amount for whatever disposable income they may have. I didn't want the price of each ticket to be too much, but I also wanted the option to be there for folks who wanted to put in more. I intend to see what folks think after a few weeks go by as far as the cost goes.
Of course it was, Kret.

I put it on. ;3

But seriously, do the lottery ICly. It sounds like something a Gobo would do.
