Not sure if this is even worth the topic, but I wanted to state some feelings on the Mechano-hog/Mekgineer's chopper (However you spell it).

I've seen so many use it ICly, and so many times the same thought crossed my mind. (Before I begin, this is not a rant on whoever has it, merely a thought of mine)

If the OOC plan for the bike is even close to accurate ICly, I doubt anyone but the richest and most famed people in Azeroth would have one.
The components to make the bike:
12x Titansteel bar. <- That alone would be insanely hard to get, and expensive as buying a small island.
40x Cobalt bolts. <- THAT'S A LOT OF BOLTS. (No, really, it's a material native to Northrend, and would be dangerous to mine)
3x Arctic Fur. <- If we're still going by OOC prices/items, this will be very pricey.
1x Salvaged Iron Golem Parts. <- Sells for 3,000 Gold (Originally. I don't know if the price is lower on CoTH)
8x Goblin Machined Piston. <- Sells for 1,000 Gold each.
1x Elementium Plated Exhaust Pipe. <- Sells for 1,500 Gold.

Look at all those pricey items... Now, if the prices would be different ICly, this post is useless, but if we're going by OOC prices...

That comes to a grand total of 12,728 Gold... Wow...

Now, yes, the prices could be different ICly, but this is my thoughts of it.
Of course, some would dismiss the bike as a joke in itself.

Thank you for taking the time to listen (Or read) my thoughts about this!
Once more, if I offended anyone, I apologize greatly, seeing as I did not mean to.

(Sources used: WoWhead(Old) for the prices and material listing.)
My only hangup is seeing so many engineers that don't have the bike. I mean, someone who is proficient at piloting machinery probably doesn't need to be an engineer to use it... but I feel like the bike is sort of the perk of being an engineer and that they probably aren't that common and most are probably self-built.

It feels strange seeing everyone's mom and dog having a chopper and then admit they aren't an engineer at all. I don't mean to be elitist, I'm just saying that the bikes are to engineers like the flying carpet is to tailors. And it requires grandmaster engineering to make the bike which seems to drive the point further that it takes somewhat of a good engineer to make such a complex machine.

We'll always have the Flying Machine.
Yeah, just wait until Cataclysm <3

Also I would find gnomes in general to be a bit of an exception for this. Their racial mount is a machine and they're brought up with machines so it'd make sense for them to know how to drive a chopper. As far as owning one.. I'm not as sure.
With the possibility of an IC Currency system on the horizon I'm honestly going to sit down and try to conjure up some prices I believe; so maybe we'll finally put this question to bed!

But I'm gonna have to get back to you on that. If it doesn't just flop over onto my face.
Well, I doubt that the standard bike would be made of such materials.
If anything, it'll probably be made of similar things ours are.
Steel.
You see, I've always been of the opinion that a Bike does not have to be made out of those materials exactly.

Cars today have frames made out of iron and steel (I think, I'm horrible with cars) So what's saying you can't build a good-working machine out of steel instead of Titansteel, which is something most people have only heard about in -rumors- let alone eye-to-eye.

Any Engineer with true skill should be able to design pistons and engines on their own, given that they are able to construct complex multi-dimensional items such as the Wormhole Generator. An engine should be child's play in comparison.

Just my two copper.

Yar, this has been the issue when people have asked me prices in the past (If I'm not mistaken you actually did, binkle. :o)

The big thing is that it is rather unlikely that the bike would ICly be made of those materials, as Kril noted; I've always said the price would scale, then, since it would be unlikely for someone to actually buy one with the stuff its made of in game.
Indeed I did.
I asked about a price difference between steel and mithril for the bike.
The bike is made out of those materials because it is an high-end engineering schematic available to engineers at/near level 80. They can either mine the materials themselves, or they can be lower level, have a higher level main, and can buy it for themselves.

Point being it's an endgame item that is made of those materials 'cause BLIZZARD.

You don't need elementium or titansteel to make a motorcycle.
Though, to be fair, a bike made out of those would probably count as a weapon in itself.
Or a spell focus.

Pretty much.

I imagine a titansteel vehicle of just about any size hurtling towards you would just destroy most people. Maybe the most armored would make it through on a head on collision, heh.

Light bike. Get it? 8D
One thing to consider is the bike is made from those materials because engineering is somewhat of an art in Warcraft lore, you don't see blacksmiths wearing dive suits casually do you?
Another thing is the bike would be an ineffective as a weapon due to poor running and malfunctioning, I imagine bikes designed by Gnomes and Goblins would overheat quickly, have trouble starting (like, 1/10 chance to start the thing), and would be like driving stick, but harder. Though I suppose the technology rant is best saved for later...

Don't even think of it, freckles.
