Hello friends!

You're likely pretty familiar with Open Office in the OOCC, and those of you who frequently run about when that's going on will notice that I in particular don't really do the Open Office much.

Or at all. Either or.

The reason is mostly that I prefer to be able to formulate an entire response, and if I do that on the spot then I can sometimes gloss over important pieces of information. Heck, I still do that when I take my time. But the point is that it isn't quite as sever on the forums.

I noticed a lot of people seemed to like my rambling on villains in the last blog, so I thought perhaps you would like to hear opinions or explanations as to other topics. I've made this thread for just that purpose; if you've got a question (or just a topic for me to blabber on) just leave it in a post below, and I'll get to it once I can come up with a proper response.

Not entirely sure how well this will work, but I figured that it might be nice to try!
Actually today I thought I might remake my token warlock into a techno-warlock and I was wondering if you'd have an idea of some abilities.

I was thinking something more destructive on the goblin side of engineering, so like gun-based and explosive based stuff. Do you think you could have fel-fire bullets, and fel-fire grenades and other things? Do you also think you could use technology in some way to augment your demon minions? (like attach weaponry to them and such). I also didn't know if you could as a techno-mage/techno-warlock use magic to power robots and have them too shoot magic like your guns.

So in general I wanted some ideas about tech mage/warlock skills.
Would it be possible to play a person with the so called 'mirror syndrome', and if so, would we be allowed to do the necessary amount of friendly metagaming to achieve the goal of successfully playing the character?

Long story short: Reading the body language and evaluating the psychological background of people around them, imitating them afterwards due to having no memory of their own.
In the same vein as Wuvvums's question, I'd also ask what the specific difference between a mage-enineer and techno-mage is.

The awnser I've gathered thus far is that it's the symbiosis level of the two crafts.

So while a mage-engineer may have a spellgun, firing his spells -through- it, only a technomage can keep mana interactively flowing through machinery to keep it going in various ways.

Would that be accurate?

To go through your current ideas;

-Imbuing explosives and projectiles with magical effects is one of the reoccurring abilities with Technomagi; I'm perfectly fine with that. I also believe that fel is a viable source to power machinery, as you see it done multiple times in Outland. Regarding augmenting demons I'm not completely sure of that; I think in general I would prefer to err to the side of caution and say that that shouldn't be done.

Further ideas might be bullets imbued with curses and the like; in general technomagi tend to just be augmenting existing abilities with an extra flair, so I'm thinking the largest applications to be bombs and guns, as well as a fuel source.

I don't believe that would be overstepping, though I may be misunderstanding you. I don't believe metagaming would be necessary in any capacity since even if someone is evaluating the people around them their imitation is only as good as what they -think- the person may do, or at least I would imagine.

As in they may assume and act on one thing only to have the person they are imitating perform a different action; people are just unpredictable.

I've always been under the impression that a mage-engineer takes these two fields and treats them as separate, whereas a technomage combines. So a spellgun would be used by a technomage rather than a mage-engineer, because they specialize in combining the fields of tech and arcane. The normal mage may pick up engineering and fire firebolts and grenades, but they don't combine these two elements because they have no training/experience in doing so.

Another way to think about it is that instead of simply casting a spell or shooting a bullet, you're melding the two into one more effective projectile. So in your example up there instead of just casting a spell like icebolt you might employee a ice grenade, or something similar.
