I would definitely recommend Ubuntu or Debian 6.0 for running a Linux based server however if you've never worked with Linux command line before you're going to have a very tough time setting up the server and running it, as well as managing it day to day.

Overall tbh I wouldn't actually worry about running Linux over Windows as I don't see it being particularly beneficial for the server's emulation, it performs somewhat better, yes, but you won't see those benefits coming in to play with the server capacity we currently have. The other benefits are security related and I don't' see that being a big deal either.

If you have Linux experience then go for it, but if you're more comfortable with Windows I would remain using it unless CoTH's population experiences a baby boom.

Feel free to PM if you have any questions, myself and a close friend run Debian 6.0 on our work production environment.
