This is more out of curiosity then anything else. If you've played Cata and done any of the missions that involve Twilight's Hammer, you would see that they use three different types of spells. I've seen some use Shadow Bolts, others use Holy Smite, and then Twilight Bolt. Which brings up the question. Is Twilight magic it's own thing? Or is it a mix of shadow and light.

For sanity's sake, Old God magic is Shadow-based.

Naw, nobody really knows what the Old Gods wield. It's been left pretty vague.

But it's safe to say it's Shadow based. It fits nicely and can be stretched to explain what the evil creatures can do.
