Cowardice! Insubordination! Following the events of Dreyston and the subsequent execution of the heretic, Father Brizio, several junior members of the Inquisition have defected and are attempting to flee Redridge. This is unacceptable. Their weakness hinders the True Faith, and therefore Azeroth, as a whole. They have abandoned their country, their comrades, and above all - their faith. It is up to the Inquisition to hunt down and deal with these defectors. The Light wills it.

“The apostates are adversaries. For they have forsaken the Light by words or deeds. They must be redeemed.”

Rank Abilities
These abilities may be used once per an encounter (event).

Not on My Watch! (Apostle) - As a senior member of the order, the Apostle may null or take on the rank ability of one other player.

Sanctuary! (Confessor) - In the event of an apostate’s capture, the Confessor has the authority to protect the prisoner from harm. The Confessor will proclaim that the subject must repent, and therefore, regardless of what the party wishes to do with the apostate, (s)he will be returned to the Inquisition unharmed. This power takes precedence over any ability but the Apostle’s.

Purge the Heretic! (Templar) - As the Inquisition’s first line of defense against adversaries, a Templar may designate one visible target that has expressed beliefs contrary to the Templar’s own. The designated target is stricken near defenseless against the Templar and his allies. The Templar will not rest until the target is dead. The rest of the party is not bound to attack the target, but is aware that once the call has been made, there is no way to stop the rage-stricken zealot.

The Light Wills It! (Inquisitor) - The Inquisitor possesses the unique knowledge and skills to infiltrate and root out enemies of the Light. Therefore, whenever encountering a non-player character subject to the Light, the Inquisitor makes an almost divine appeal to their faith. This subtle compulsion causes the character to treat the group as allies for the purposes of combat and information-gathering.

This Place Needs Purging! (Arcanist) - During combat, the Arcanist can crash a wave of magic over a large area. Depending on the Arcanist’s skill, allies may or may not be hit. Enemies stand no chance against this level of power. Alternatively, the Arcanist can use this power to scry. Scrying (or Perceiving, in the case of an Apostle) takes at least a minute, but allows the Arcanist to sense hidden areas or characters in the surrounding area.

My Life for the Light! (Initiate) - During combat, the Initiate may act out of turn to take damage for one other ally.

Bandages...of the Light! (Initiate) - The Initiate is not as experienced in battle as Templars or Arcanists, and therefore is equipped with bandages and potions. The Initiate may revive any knocked out ally. Alternatively, these divine bandages may be chucked at heretics for some decent damage (there’s vats of holy water in there somewhere).

The Apostates

Initiate Sarah Cooper

A young woman from Redridge, Sarah was an aspiring Confessor for the True Faith. However, she was naive. Although she never spoke out during Father Brizio’s execution, she failed to report in the next morning and has been missing ever since. Witnesses claim to have seen her leave her quarters before sunrise and flee west, prompting the Inquisition to assume apostasy. Several members have confessed their private thoughts and secrets to Sarah, making her capture imperative to maintain morale and trust in the Inquisition’s priests.

Rumors circulate that the nearby hamlet of Briarsworth is harbouring Cooper. A small group has been tasked with investigating these claims and dealing with Sarah in whatever manner they see fit. If the rumors prove true, a Templar or Inquisitor may declare a Cleansing of the small village.

Note: Due to the nature of Cleansings, the party may choose to skip having to roleplay this out. It will merely be implied. In the case that the party wishes to roleplay this out, children will be have hidden or escaped.

Initiate Adam Williams

When the Inquisition arrived at Dreyston, Arcanist-to-be Adam was eager to please. However, as soon as he was ordered to attack the townsfolk, his faith faltered. He refused the order and decried the Inquisition as “bloody Scarlets”. Williams aided a group of armed civilians in the slaying of his group leader, Templar Gavin King, before fleeing into the mountains. Adam’s capture is not only the Light's will, but a matter of Justice.

A group has been dispatched to track Adam down and make him answer for his crimes. Senior members of the order pledge caution and preparation, as it may take days to traverse the dangerous and feral peaks of Redridge.

Templar Jack Hill

When ordered to apprehend Father Brizio, Jack asked the initiates under his charge to stand down. Well respected, many adhered to his word. After the deed was done, Lady Beone and several members of the Order approached Hill's group. Regardless of his false justifications, the Prophetess declared him fallen and ordered his capture. To her surprise, Jack’s initiates stepped forward to defend him. A short battle ensued, but Jack and several followers were able to escape the town.

Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Player Information

These events are meant to entertain Inquisition players between the Tainted Light guild event with storytelling and mild combat. Since fighting is not imperative, these mini-events will utilize the Watch RP Combat roll system (first time trying it out, so we’ll play it by ear). Players will learn the system as they go.

Events will be at most 1-2 hours in length and are limited to 5 people and have no set time, although non-guild and guild spectators alike are welcome. In the case of popular demand, the player capacity will be increased to 7 and event challenges will be adjusted accordingly.

Participation in these events require the wearing of appropriate armor/clothing (nothing flashy) and the Inquisition guild tabard. In addition, these events are player-run and will lack NPC puppets and props (read: bring yo damn imaginashun).

It is entirely possible that any apostates not addressed by the end of the Tainted Light will escape and cause future problems for the Inquisition. Events are largely open-ended, time-imperative, and the players may capture, kill, persuade, or deal with any apostates they encounter however they see fit.

Since time is important in these events, inner-party conflict will bear consequences. Participating players will have time to plan amongst themselves before engaging in the event.

That's all for now! I'll answer any questions and post updates regarding the events in this thread, including any set times (in the case that there are not enough players present at one time to spontaneously start one).

A great initiative, and one that I absolutely support!

The Inquisition will always support its members taking the initiation to planning and running their own events! c:
Everard will run a blade through these Apostates.
I fell in love with this event idea as soon as you sent me a PM containing the details, of course it has my full support!

First come, First served. Spectators are welcome.

Set time is cancelled; I'll run this whenever enough people are online. My fault really.

See you in-game, Inquisitors! :)
