I'm not entirely sure if a lich would fall under Mage or warlock.

Lich would fall under Necromancy, which could be in turn be picked as either Mage or Warlock.
For the sake of ease, I'd pick a Warlock.

Well liches are known to use frost spells as well as shadow. So even to that point I don't know.
