So...I've always been a fan of merchants and stuff....Anyone here knows a game that is about gathering, producing, and then selling stuff? ((Something with not OP graphics, and possibly online, F2P, and either futuristic or 1700-ish era))
EVE Online is the closest I can think. It's a pay to play MMORPG set in space (15 a month) where merchant is something that can entirely sustain you. It would be best if you looked it up on your own as I'd likely miss a lot of important details, but it's worth a shot.
Cart Life.

It also has a DEEP, deep storyline to it. You manage your own product cart on the busy streets, selling coffee, hotdogs, or newspapers. There's three characters to play from in your day by day life.

Thanks for the suggestion, sadly, Eve online is way too OP for my PC. :c ((I think))
Yeah, I think EVE's your best bet for an MMO with a player-driven economy. I think anything else, especially driving into medieval tradin', would probably be too niche for people to make games out of. There are The Guild games, but they're more about towns rather than travel/trade and they're only singleplayer!

I hear if you pick the "hotdog" option your character starts out looking like this.

There's Anno series.
Everything before 2070 is old times.
There's also the whole Settlers series, there's even Settlers online.

Other than that there is also Freelancer, a good old fashioned free-form space game.
Much like EVE but without micro-managing a vast fleet or having to deal with malicious players.
Though, you won't exactly make goods to sell, more of finding a good and sell it to the right place.

For the full offline EVE experience.

There is X3 Albion Prelude and X3 Terran Conflict.
The above ones mentioned. Recettear: An Item shop's tale came to mind. Singleplayer game, graphics are anime-style-ish but they don't require much of a PC to run. You basically run a store, do dungeons for items and try to pay of your debt each week with a whole story added into the mix.

Capitalism ho!

Currently 60% off as well, so 6 euro's or equivalents, worth a looker at least.

Thanks for the suggestions!

It's from 2003. The only really graphically challenging place is when you go into player view, but that's completely optional.

Hmmm...I might give it a try.
Recettear, this game... so good.. It's exactly what you need!

Damn you, I was gonna suggest those!

EDIT: Although merchanting isn't the best way to make money in that game. Serious money comes from going to Teladi Stock Exchange, buying the pass to get in, and oh my god you'll make millions.

Sins of a Solar Empire, less merchanty but it's real time x4. If you want to do large-scale "trading", then try the earlier Civ games. Civ 2 Test of Time, I remember, has something where all of your cities supply 3 things (let's say, pearls, oil and silk) but it demands 3 other things (plastics, fur and rare stones). You send out caravans and you trade. Not very immersive, but you can make a lot of monies.

If you want, I can give you a 21 free day trial, I'm not a merchant (never have been so I can't vouch for the money making capabilities, big freight however, you can make a respectable bit of money AFKing) but I blow stuff up. Which is also an excellent way making money.
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization is mostly trade based and is most definitely 1700s-ish. Another one I enjoy is the Patrician Series, though not 1700's it's an excellent trade game. There's also the Guild II, which is comparable to a renaissance Sims with economy and trade in it.
Keep an eye on Guns of Icarus Online. Right now it's just a PvP Steampunk Airship game, but they recently finished a kickstarter to add adventure mode.

In adventure mode you're on an open map instead with lots of towns, cities and villages. These settlements have different resources according to where in the world they are and how rich they are. The point is to be able to fly your airship, with the help of your crew, to one of these settlements, buy a resource and then fly to another settlement where it's worth a lot more. However, you'll be threatened by both an AI director that spawns bi-planes and other players who might have picked up piracy. You can hire other players as an escort, though.

As far as how the gameplay will look, it'll look like Guns of Icarus Online looks right now. Which is like this
Spoiler:

This expansion comes out next summer at the earliest, though, so you'll probably want something else to keep you busy till then.
