I vote no. The world is huge, and has many a nook and cranny. Plenty of places to establish a base. At most, some furnishing of said locations might be nice. But instanced guild halls...they'd only succeed in dividing the community.
I think general purpose guild bases might be nice. WoD strongholds for players aren't for any single race/guild, they embody their faction as a whole. To that degree, generalized guild bases that everyone can use I think would be fine. But bases tailored specifically to a single guild that has limited use or function outside its intended guild, No.

@"CappnRob" is a nub, so we should disregard his post.

SERIOUS RESPONSE TIME. Generalized bases would be pretty awesome. Add to the list of available RP locations without having to scout out areas. Maybe liven up some existing locations?
While normally I'd be all in for guild bases, because it's one of the most exciting things I find in RP...

Mathias speaks with more truth than I can argue against, and so I'mma have to say no - unless, of course, it's spruced up existing RP locations.
I don't think that having secluded guild bases in another phase, nor in some far away spot that Blizz has kept unnaturally flat would be the way to go. I do think that the suggestion earlier in the thread, about building on existing areas, would work however. If a guild is using the Westbrook Garrison (The barracks near Hogger) I really don't see an issue with beautifying it a bit. Add a couple houses or a smithy to the outside, spawn/replace/move a few NPCs. Make it more RP friendly in general. That's the sort of thing that's been done in the past and worked out really well.

Back in like 2010 Lox despawned those two gnomes at the Gnomish STV house, added a few extra chairs, spawned a few robots and it was great. It took her all of ten minutes, it didn't bother anyone, it helped provide a sense of place and meaning to the area; All while leaving it open to other people if they decided they wanted to be there too. Same thing happened with Don's farm in Nagrand. There were a few tables, some awnings, and a few chairs spawned in the area to make RP more fluid. Didn't take long. Wasn't a huge change. People hardly even noticed, and if they wanted to use it when we weren't there then they could. If someone was there when we wanted to RP, we followed the server RP and went somewhere else.

tl;dr:

Guild bases don't have to be a big deal, just make current locations more hospitable to RP by adding tables, chairs, and maybe a few decorative pieces.

Quickedit: As well, I'm not sure exactly how it's done, but I think it would be nice to have an official way to request a Custom RP Location be made. Maybe have an option of giving a theme, a location, and a race for the area and let Rigley's creative juices flow. That makes it accessible for everyone and not tailored to one guild (Though the person requesting the area could request specific things?).
