Alreena Brightbreaker [Blood Elf Rogue]
Player: denisalex

Character Full Name: Alreena Brightbreaker

Character In-Game Name: Alreena

Nickname(s): Smoke

Race: Blood Elf

Class: Rogue

Skills and Abilities:

Blade Aim - Using her blade throwing skills, Alreena can throw a dagger very precisely.

Surrounded by Shadows - Having deep knowledge in Shadow magic, Alreena can surround herself into a veil of Shadow, only for cosmetic purpose.

Piercing Shadows - Enveloping her weapons in Shadow Magic, Alreena strikes harder and has a greater armor pierce chance. The effect lasts only for a few seconds.

Age: 350

Sex: Female

Hair: Long blonde braid

Eyes: Fel green

Scale/Height: 0.9

Weight: 48 kg

Usual Garments/Armor: Thick black leather armor.

Personality: Spending most of her life trying to manipulate the shadow, Alreena didn't focus too much on her social life, this being the first reason why she might hesitate to communicate. She has little loyalty for the Horde and wouldn't back up from attacking her own allies if they threaten her. Should she find herself into a big group, she will stay behind and remain silent. Her friendship is hard gain.

History: Born in Quel'Thalas and raised by her family would seem a normal beginning for a Blood Elf girl, but not for Alreena, whose parents were both wierd stereotypes. They didn't talk to the others too frequently and enjoyed staying in-doors. Once in a while, they invited over one of their closest friends for a little diversity in their lives.

As a little girl, Alreena was taught by her parents that solitude is much better than having an intense social life. She found it quite hard not to go and play with the other kids, but she grew up into this manner and soon good used to it.

When she got older, at about 20 years old, Alreena began to read the books that her parents kept in a chest. They were all dusty and seemingly old, fact that made Alreena feel quite attracted to them.

Soon, Alreena started to take more and more books from her parents' chest. It didn't take much time until they found out so, one day, they entered their daughter's room to have a discussion about her future. Both of her parents insisted that her little daughter had to learn how to use melee weapons properly, for they believed that was the best way to attack and to defend against enemies. After a long conversation, Alreena understood and agreed with her parents' decision.

A few days passed and Alreena was eager to find out how her parents would train her. One night, her father came home with a strange-looking man that wielded two black-glowing daggers and was dressed into a black leather set armor. He called himself Alreena's new mentor.

After they both got to know eachother, the training started right away and right from the start Alreena knew that she would have to work hard to earn all the skills that her mentor had. As she sacrificed her social life long time ago, Alreena's only job was to do her best at each training.

More and more years passed and the young Alreena got to 320 years old. Her combat knowledge became vast after each day of training. The fact that the First War emerged wasn't bothering the High Elves too much, for they were far from the 'action'.

Twenty-four years ago though, when the Second War started, they were called to support the humans in their quest to fight back the Horde. Alreena and her parents were truly prepared for that war, but they agreed to remain in the shadows and continue their 'normal' lives.

When nothing seemed to be a threat for the High Elves, the Scourge projected its' presence into the elven lands and massacrated those who stood against them. Alreena, her parents and the rest of their Cult retreated right away from the danger and watched how their homeland was ravaged by the Undead. As it was not enough, the Scourge corrupted the Sunwell and all the High Elves started to suffer from magic withdrawal.

A year after the incident, a squad of Elves returned from Outland and taught the remaining Elves in Quel'Thalas how to absorb Fel magic and, in doing so, caused them to gain fel green eyes and turn them into what is now known as Blood Elves.

The city of Silvermoon was to be rebuilt after a few years and Alreena could live normally again, along with her parents. As she reached the level of experienced into the arts that she studied with her mentor, her training stopped. Both her parents were proud that she finally fullfilled her dream.

A couple of years later, Alreena started to travel to certain zones of Azeroth to discover if there were persons who could maneuver the blades better than her. As she was never a social person, Alreena refused to communicate much with those she met through her journeys, but found a few people who were to be trusted and so, her social skills boosted a little.

Now she still enjoys staying alone and acting from the shadows, but might interract with the others, if they prove to be friendly, or else she will take 'good' care of them.
My own musings, having only read the abilities.

-I think you might be pushing what can be done with shadow magic.
-I don't think shadow magic has anything to do with blood. The only magic I know of that involves sacrificing anything is fel magic, unless you're trying to appease old gods or something.
-I don't see why being good with throwing knives correlates with being bad at shooting. Not that there's anything wrong with being a bad shot. It's just weird to associate the two.

Have you dropped all use of shadow magic? Be sure to include exactly what she can do with magic in your skill section.

We'd like to know more about the shadow cult that she is a part of. There's no established cult of this sort around Silvermoon at the time, and while it's certainly not impossible, some more clarification is necessary (just as you would a player-made noble house, for example.) Goal, size, power, stuff like that.

I'm afraid we don't allow Warlocks that early in Elven history. Warlockery in general is only open around the Three Great Wars, to the Playable(this exclused Satyr) peoples of Azeroth.

Not to mention, Fel-magic use would drive one forth to become a Blood Elf -far- before their time.

I'm not sure Dark Approach is something we know about, in WoW. Is there a rogue skill that's similar? What is the dark cloud made of, exactly? Also - to what extent, exactly, can Alreena manipulate shadow magic? As it is now, she will only be able to use that one spell.

Aye, that's precisely the ability that the 'Dark Approach' ability in this profile functions as. In game, shadowstep also creates a little black smoke when it's used. I'm not sure what that dark cloud is made out of, it's not explained, but since it's in game it's alright to be in this character's skillset.

Although I wouldn't call it 'Dark Approach', I'd just call it shadowstep. And even then, it wouldn't be an unusual skill for a rogue, so it wouldn't even need to be in the Skills and Abilities section.

Hi, denixalex.

Apologies for the delay in response with this profile.

There is still one thing that needs to be addressed, and it would be this ability:

Quote:Spectral Blade - Alreena launches one of her daggers towards her enemies, leaving a trail of Shadow in its' path. The trail lasts for a few seconds and grants Alreena bonus movement speed while she walks on it.

Unfortunately, this is too close to an ability from another game, Dota 2. The particular ability in question is this one: http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Spectre#Spectral_Dagger

While it's alright to take inspiration from another game, things need to be significantly changed in order to fit into the setting properly and avoid plagiarism. And plagiarism is one of our rules, so if this particular ability isn't changed or removed, the profile will be denied due to being in conflict with this rule.

Removed that certain ability and added 2 more.
Seems alright now. I'll send this over to initial approval in case anyone else has something to address, since I don't see anything else at this point.

Howdy, there! For her ability "Surrounded by Shadows", I'd like some clarification on how it works. Does it work like Cloak of Shadows in that it only works against magical damage/debuffs or is it a shield against physical stuff too? I can't find any abilities that'd support shadow magic being able to stop physical attacks, so it'd have to be effective towards spells only. Also, be mindful that if it is just styled after Cloak of Shadows, you don't need to add it as a special ability - it falls under the core abilities rogues can use anyway.

Quote:The veil might still surround Alreena if she stands still for some moments, but it would not have the same effect as the one mentioned above.
Just so I understand this sentence - this means the veil stops protecting her if she stands still, and is only cosmetic?

I don't see any other issues, so I'm okay with giving this a second approval once those two clarifications are made.

Move him into the sun—
Gently its touch awoke him once,
At home, whispering of fields half-sown.
Always it woke him, even in France,
Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.

Think how it wakes the seeds,—
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.
Are limbs, so dear-achieved, are sides,
Full-nerved—still warm—too hard to stir?
Was it for this the clay grew tall?
—O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth’s sleep at all?
