Jarred Wolfe [Worgen Rogue]
#1
Player: Morhana

Character Full Name: Jarred Wolfe

Character In-Game Name: Jarred

Nickname:

Association(s):

Race: Worgen

Class: Rogue

Skills and Abilities:

Age: 25

Sex: Male

Hair: Black

Eyes: Brown

Scale: 1

Appearance: Jarred is of average height and weight for someone of his age and muscular build. He is very physically fit with muscular arms from working his parents farm as well as a local lumber mill. He has somewhat long hair that reaches past his shoulders, but is tied into two braids hanging forward over his shoulders. He has rough facial hair with sideburns going to his jaw. Accompanying whatever armor he may be using, Jarred always carries his skinning knife and hatchet with him on his belt.

Personality: Jarred is very social and kind to his friends and loved ones. He can be very insecure about certain things, but will do what he can to appear strong when necessary, despite his fears. He is terrified of being alone, be it in terms of family and friends or physically alone. He likes to perform and entertain people, having performed in theatre acts in his youth. He is typically wary around strangers, but is quick to warm up to new people.

History: Jarred Wolfe was born just prior to the second war and the Greymane wall being raised, though his small family never left Gilneas before the wall. As he grew up he learned to tend to the needs of his father's farm outside the city of Gilneas, as well as other little hobbies that he shared with his father. When they were able to afford it, Jarred was taken into the wild to hunt alongside his father. From his kills, he was taught to skin and butcher beasts.

When he was old enough, Jarred started working as a nearby lumber mill, chopping trees and preparing lumber to be sold. This continuing hard work earned Jarred his strong muscular body. Around this same time, Jarred began venturing into the city on rare occasion to visit the marketplace. He was offered to work with a local theatre group to work behind the scenes in constructing sets and other labor, but eventually moved to the stage where he frequently played small parts in little plays.

Into his later teenage years, Jarred began to become rough and greedy. His trouble started when he saw the boy of a well off merchant wearing a fine silk doublet. He followed the boy until there were few enough people around and he threw a heavy fist at the boy's head, knocking him clean out. He stole the garment off the boy's back, taking it for himself. Upon realizing that he couldn't let his parents see the expensive stolen garment, Jarred sold it in the crowded marketplace. He made a nice sum of money, and for hardly any effort. He thought he could keep this up, and it turns out he wouldn't be so wrong.

After some time of being a pickpocket and thug alone, Jarred was adopted into a well organized gang of thugs and bandits. He operated well with his new "friends", holding up carriages and merchant carts on the roads leading to the city and robbing people in dark alleyways. He made a smaller sum per item than he did alone, but he was able to get a much higher frequency of takes with this gang, earning Jarred a nice savings. This bandit act continued up until the outbreak of the Worgen curse. Jarred had been alone in the city, looking for a suitable target to hold up when the Worgen began terrorizing the city. In the mess, he managed to hide in an unlocked cellar until things quieted down. Worgen still prowled the streets, but Jarred waited for a clear opening and dashed between hiding places.

His running and hiding would only last him so long, and he could feel himself becoming exhausted. Fortunately Jarred soon met Olivia Bayron and the two agreed to work together to escape the city. The pair fought their way through until they found a friend of Olivia. Jarred was nearly sick at the sight of her wounds, but managed to keep himself quiet. Eventually, they made it out of the city and to Jarred's home. The nearby village was empty, save for a few corpses. His own home had been abandoned, leaving him to assume his parents fled to the city after the outbreak. He collected what he could from his home, including the coin he had saved from his bandit work.

The duo then made their way to Olivia's home, where they were met with a feral worgen. It pinned Olivia to a wall, latching onto her shoulder with a vicious bite. Olivia stabbed the beast with her knife, but the worgen refused to let go. Jarred fired a shot from his rifle, but failed to land a solid shot and only managed to enrage the beast, causing it to barrel down on him. He was sure his end was upon him until he felt the beast's strength fade. Olivia had stabbed the feral Worgen, her own father, in the back. After allowing Olivia some time to come to terms with the recent events and her losses, the pair left the home and made their way in her father's boat to the harbor to find a ship leaving Gilneas. Before long, the worgen bite caused Olivia to turn, though Jarred was quick to restrain his new companion. He was able to apply a serum he was introduced to while passing through a town. Jarred kept a dose of the serum with him in case he was also turned, and this managed to be his saving grace. He was unfortunately turned, and it fell on Olivia to help him regain his humanity, even if only for a period of time.

The pair was soon turned to the Night Elves, where they performed the ritual of Inner Balance. The two then made their way to Teldrassil, taking place in Darnassus for a time before continuing along on their journey.

Looking good, @Morhana , but I've got a concern here in the History section.
Morhana Wrote:holding up carriages and merchant carts on the roads leading to the city and robbing people in the streets

Now, possibly I'm not envisioning Gilneas properly, but I think it'd be quite the challenge to hold up merchant carts (which are usually guarded by individual bodyguards) or to rob people in the street, especially if they do it repeatedly.
Perhaps you could give that part a slight rewrite so that it also includes him ducking law enforcement, or things of the like?

Morhana Wrote:could feel himself becoming exausted
This should be 'exhausted'.

Morhana Wrote:Fortunately Jarred soon met Olivia Bayron and the two agreed to work together to escape the city.
With frenzied, vicious, hungry worgen prowling the streets, it seems somewhat unlikely that one person can go unnoticed, much less two that fortunately meet up. Maybe you could provide a little more detail about their meeting? Perhaps he stumbled upon a hiding place, like another cellar, of her and a few other refugees. Something to that degree.

Morhana Wrote:they made it out of the city and to Jarred's home.
This may be my own fault, but didn't Jarred's family live inside Gilneas, behind the wall while it was being raised? Where exactly is his home, if they escaped the worgen-infested city? Maybe add a mention of that earlier in the history, or provide some more details of him purchasing his own home.

Morhana Wrote:abandonned,
This should be 'abandoned'.

Morhana Wrote:leaving him to assume his parents fled to the city after the outbreak.
Again. Possibly an error of understanding on my part, but I thought his family lived inside Gilneas, not in a neighboring small village. Maybe adding some sort of detail to the original description of their home location would be helpful.

Morhana Wrote:but missed only managed to enrage the beast,

I think you're missing a word in this sentence here. Perhaps changing it to;
Quote: but missed and only managed to enrage the beast,

Morhana Wrote:Olivia had put down the feral Worgen, her own father.
I know I keep being picky for details, buhhhht;
The feral worgen, especially those at the beginning of the outbreak, were really strong and vicious as their ravenous hunger washed over them. It could be as simple as 'putting one down', but it would be nice to have some more details about it, being that they could be seen as difficult things to just kill, especially when they've got prey in their grasp. Just asking for some more details on how she slew the beastie.

Morhana Wrote:Jarred kept a dose of the serum with him in case he was also turned, and this managed to be his saving grace. He was unfortunately turned, and it fell on Olivia to help him regain his humanity, even if only for a period of time.
While this isn't necessary to mention, I feel I should anyways. Keep in mind that, while a serum would be hard to find, it wouldn't be impossible. Although, there's a high chance that the serum may not completely reduce the curse (I.E giving him back his humanity). Through the process of using the serum, it's possible that Jarred could have caused his curse to be more intense, which could cause insanity or any other psychological problems from his own mind and the curse battling back and forth in his brain.

While I'm not saying you should say anything about it, I'm just mentioning it for you to keep it in mind.

Morhana Wrote:he two then make their way to Teldrassil,
Should be 'made their way'.

Also, it'd likely do you good to mention stuff about
Valicor Wrote:could cause insanity or any other psychological problems from his own mind and the curse battling back and forth in his brain.
this while he goes through the rituals in Teldrassil. While they are portrayed as a 'cure' for the worgen curse, they were often very hard to go through mentally to regain stability over the curse, and would take a good bit of time to complete (if I'm not wrong). Some more detail at the end about his experience could be helpful.

Anyhow, that's that. Just offering my help, and hopefully I wasn't too picky about the corrections, as I am just offering what seems a good idea. Dates, as far as I see, match up, and age-wise he is fine. Just give the above things some thought about correction, and make a post when the edits are completed.

Hopefully the FHs can be of more help. I'm sure they'll be along quickly to approve you, friend.

/thumbs up

I've fixed the spelling and grammar errors mentioned, and rewrote some parts for clarification and highlighted in green to make them easier to find.

@Valicor I should refer you to Olivia's profile. It will explain some of Jarred's history to you.

You shouldn't make one profile dependent on another. All important parts of Jarred's profile should be on Jarred's profile.

I was just putting it there for Valicor's reference since some parts of Jarred's history went a specific way. And the profiles aren't dependent. They were just written to coincide with each other.

While any profile can be written to coincide with each other, each profile should carry enough detail and explanation to stand as an individual profile as well. This is why I asked for more details and explanation from @Morhana regarding some of the situations with him and Olivia.

It's looking better, by the way.

In regards to the concerns around the robberies and the like, i did make a small edit BUT I would like to mention that Jarred was not alone in his actions. I figured it was implied well enough that a gang of bandits should on occasion be able to hold up a cart or carriage.

Also, while I did edit for clarification, I found mentioning he grew up on a farm would be enough to assume that he was not IN the city of Gilneas at all times. Though he was during the outbreak, he lived outside of the city which would explain the references to his family fleeing to the city or him leaving the city and going to his home.

I was able to find little information regarding the serum, other than its use to help retain ones sanity. I found nothing mentioning that it could cause the curse to be worse.
If you could provide a reference to the effects of the serum in detail, and it is requested further by staff, I could edit to expand on the matter.

There no evidence that it would cause the curse to be worse. Rhyming! I can see Valicor's logic, since like in real world medicine, weird stuff can happen. But, again...no evidence. And if it happened, it likely happened in the early stages of its development. The entire story of the serum is very vague and kind of a A WIZARD DID IT McGuffin. There might be more details in the comics, but I never read them.

Reading it as it is now, the profile checks out, lore-wise. The only qualm (and it's a minor one) is that his first case of thievery came out of nowhere and wasn't given much psychological justification. That's not to say there couldn't be, because seeing that Jarred was lower in class than the boy, there are many reasons he might have had for stealing from him.

As for the serum...it makes enough sense. And even if they were only given one dose, they went on to the Night Elves for help, so that in and of itself is enough.

I'm going to go ahead and give this approval.

But in the future...

1) Highlighting parts of the profile should only be done when you're going through a re-approval process and you want to point out the changes that were made with the highlighting.
2) Personally, I don't mind profiles coinciding with one another. And yeah, dependency can result from this which...so long as it isn't too much, it's alright. But it should be the job of the players involved to make sure that everything matches up, not the FH.
