Mistal'aerix [Blood Elf Warlock]
#1
Player: Ruwendje44

Character Full Name: Mistal'aerix Ali'ahn

Character In-Game Name: Mistal

Nickname(s): None

Association(s): The Horde, The Alliance (former), Silvermoon City

Race: Blood Elf

Class: Warlock

Skills and Abilities:
Through years of training, Mistal is skilled in the arts of Fel magic. Especially the use of Fel fire. Because he has been consuming Felblood through the years the form of his skills might seem slightly different than those of others. Even though the skills and sigils he uses seem different, they hold no other effect than the regular ones.

Age: 758

Sex: Male

Hair: Long, black.

Eyes: Fel green

Weight: 145 lbs

Height: 6’1

Usual Garments/Armor: Mistal wears robes that mainly consists of black and red colors. He mostly wears a hood, unless he is among others he cares to show his face to.

Other: When Mistal does not wear his hood, a scar on the left side of his face would be visible. The scar would be from his brow to his left ear, covering his left eye. Yet his eye seems unharmed.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Personality:

Mistal may come off as a discrete and distant man. Which is true in some way. But beneath the discrete and distant act an angry, narcissistic, calculative man awaits to strike when the occasion occurs. As he studied Fel-magic his reasoning towards others has simply flown out of the window. If someone knows how to crack his shell that is sustained by his arrogant posture he will most likely just try to chew you up and spit you out by using his words. If that does not work his next move would be to walk away and find someone to get rid of the person in question.

He only cares for what could serve as a tool to get to his ideals. He does not hold back when it comes to taking whatever risks that may come with the action he is about to perform. Mistal has no clear view on what is wrong or what is right, nor does he care enough to ever debate over such ‘irrelevant’ topics.

The man may come off as arrogant or a snob. That is exactly what he is. He takes his talent in the Fel magic very seriously. He would laugh at a Human or a Goblin if they would ever say they studied the Fel. Even if they would show him their full arsenal of spells and incantations he would most likely turn his back and just walk off, unimpressed. This is rather one of his weakest points, seeing as he underestimates his opponents, rather than to believe in their strengths.

While he has seen more than enough through the years as a Blood Elf, he still believes that his kin is superior to all others in every regard, as he would in no way keep his opinion to himself if others care to disagree on this. When it comes to arguments Mistal will participate as long as the topic that is being discussed gives him any type of insight in who he is dealing with.

Mistal is not the man to go into a fight just for the ‘kick’. Quite the contrary, Mistal likes to keep his abilities to himself. But when taunted to go into battle he will give his everything. Not because he is afraid to die or be defeated, but purely because he believes that using his Fel abilities would be wasted on the puny man or woman.

History:

Tears of happiness and joy rolled over Mivaera’s cheeks as she held her new born son in her arms. The sun was shining brightly over the Kingdom of Quel’Thalas. Daelikas kissed his wife’s forehead and rubbed his right hand against the baby’s left cheek. The birth of their son – Mistal’aerix- was celebrated for a day.

Years had passed and the baby had grown to become a young man. Although most men of his age had huge hands and strong muscles, Mistal was the opposite. He had a smaller waist, no big hands and muscles? Those were almost absent. What he did possess however was the ability to stock piles of information in that brain of his.

The library was almost his second home, studying from dawn till dusk, being forced from the library with only three books which he would continue to study when he got home. His parents were proud of their son, he seemed so eager to study that they made arrangements to get him to one of the best classes next year.

Years passed and Mistal still kept studying. But things had changed. He found allies within the human scholars that studied beside him. Frankly, though what they studied was not the same. All of them studied the Arcane magic, but in a lesser extent than himself. What the others did not know however, is that Mistal was not only studying his magic, but also the history of his people. Because years had passed, but before he was born his kin had been through quite a lot already. His hate for Trolls as he studied the tomes and books about the Troll wars started to boil deep within him. Little did the others know, than that he was just reading about his ancestors and the way they studied Arane magic. And that through their Arcane studies terrible things had happened to Azeroth.

News spread like fire in the woods. The First War had started and from the information that was scattered about, Mistal was uncertain what was expected of either him or his parents. Luckily, the High Elves were spared. Well almost… Because years later the Second War emerged and this time neither he nor his High elven brethren weren’t spared the fight.

The War raged on for years and Mistal was also one of the soldiers that had to fight off the Trolls. However he did not prevail without a scratch. While he was on patrol and came to stand against one of the Trolls he ended up in a fight. A wonderful fight Mistal would remind you, but the Troll had his strengths. The beast made sure that Mistal would not win the fight unharmed. While the beast laid on his back on the ground, Mistal held a dagger to his throat which gave the Troll enough time to scratch him in his face. Blood poured from his face and from that moment, Mistal knew he would bear a scar for a lifetime. Which made it only fair to kill the creature and be gone with it.

As the Second War slowly came to an end and families who survived were reunited Mistal was unable to find his. One of his former teachers had to bring him the bad news that his parents had perished while trying to maintain the defenses of Quel’Thalas against the Trolls.

The death of his parents was the perfect ingredient that was needed for Mistal to take on a whole new perspective on the things that mattered through the years.

Mistal found himself a tutor mastered in the use of Arcane magic. Mistal had figured that if he could only do so much with his Arcane powers, he would be sure to enhance his powers by simply tapping further into the Arcane. Years he continued his training among his tutor. His tutor taught him to remain careful while dealing with Arcane magic. Not to use it when it can be avoided as rumours had it that many who went too far with experimenting went mental.

However the more Mistal learned, the more the hunger for power grew within him. But that hunger had to wait for long to be lessened as the Scourge had made their way for Silvermoon city, where Mistal studied that day in the library.

As Mistal read a book covering the varying nature of demons the desperate call for help echoed through the streets and walls around him. A woman ran down the stairs, her dress soaked by what seemed like blood. Mistal looked up at the woman only to realize something was wrong. As the echoes of horror and despair increased in volume he placed the book into one of his pouches, and rushed up the stairs only to find lifeless bodies on the streets.

Fellow scholars and Magi gathered around him and together they started to follow the trail of dead bodies to eventually find a large group of horrible looking creatures. The Scholars and Magi did not waste a moment to fight the undead group, but it became obviously clear that they were outnumbered. Mistal quickly ran towards the exit of Silvermoon city where more horrible creatures were causing havoc and panic in the streets. Mistal would try to clear the way for himself, attacking the Ghouls and horrifying creatures until he would be standing outside of the gates of Silvermoon city.

He looked over the horrible path of destruction the creatures and their leader had created, the Dead scar. As everything began to sink in, Mistal realized it was not safe for him to remain in Silvermoon city, and that it would be wise to see if he could find his tutor.
Through all the destruction and havoc that the Scourge had caused Mistal did find his Tutor, who told him to come with him. They both made their way to the Ghostlands. There they remained and studied upon the tomes about Arcane magic until Kael'Thas returned.

After Mistal had left Silvermoon city he began to feel weakened. He knew that it had to do with the Sunwell, because every day that followed after the destruction a terrible yearning for Arcane energies was felt. Days became weeks and finally Kael'Thas came back from Draenor. He taught his followers how to consume the pure energy from the Burning crystals. Because of the Burning crystals, Mistal decided to leave his tutor in the Ghostlands, while he returned to Silvermoon city. At this point Mistal and his fellow brethren had become Blood Elves.

Months of war passed and Mistal continued his training while consuming energy from the Burning crystals. He also learned how to use other creatures to his advantage and consume their energy. But a yearning for power and greed slowly began to fill his mind. The energy that he consumed made him want more.

And since Kael'Thas' returned some Magi began to tap further into the Arcane powers. Rumour had it that where the crystals came from, there were demons and races that used far more powerful spells and incantations than the ones that were known in Quel'Thalas. The practise of this magic however was forbidden. But Mistal had found a few Magi who were willing to approach Mistal. He always wished to enhance his powers, improve the knowledge he had regarding Arcane and now this was the chance he had been waiting for.

The group of Magi that Mistal had joined had found themselves a place to remain hidden from sight while they practised their forbidden magic. Some of the Magi wrote down their findings, while others experimented with what they knew. Years passed as they began to grow stronger and more aware of what they could do with the new magic. Mistal knew that if he wanted to achieve his own goals he would have to move away from this group and find him other parts of the world where he could improve his abilities. Perhaps even find out other things that might help in this quest to power.

Years had passed since Silvermoon was attacked by the Scourge. More of Azeroth was being discovered by Scouts and tales about great adventure and distant lands filled the taverns in Silvermoon city. Even though Mistal was practising the forbidden magic he remained among his brethren for when news of more corrupted places would reach his ears. And that day arrived.

A man spoke about the continent Kalimdor which was discovered about two years ago. There had been wars and it was inhabited by Kal'dorei. There were lands that were yet to be discovered, but there were also places not many would want to go to. As Mistal heard this he couldn't help but wonder what was to be found on the other continent. The man continued to speak about the Felwood. A place that was corrupted and that it was a damaged place. But to Mistal it sounded as a place to be alone. To learn more and try out his new magic without being caught by the authority of Quel'Thalas.

Months later after Mistal had heard the impressive stories about Kalimdor and Felwood, he had made his way to Felwood itself. Sadly he didn't reach the land without a fight. Before he would get to the land he had to pass through Kal'dorei territory, where he found himself a small patrol of two Sentinels. The odds were against him, but because of his new powers he knew how to keep them at a distant. He was unable to kill either of the Sentinels, but he did find a chance to escape the patrol and move quickly to the land he was looking for.

Finally Mistal reached Felwood, where he met a Satyr. The Satyr saw that Mistal was in a bad condition because of the battle against the two Sentinels. Mistal seemed weak. The Satyr also recognized the green colour of Mistal's eyes. The Fel magic and consumption of the Essence of the burning crystals were clear indications. The Satyr seemed wary, yet wanted to help Mistal and offered Mistal a small vial filled with orange liquid. Warily Mistal would take the vial and drink whatever it was till the last drop. As minutes passed and the blood began to course through his veins the man slowly began to feel better. As for the wounds that remained the Satyr provided Mistal with potions to heal them. As the wounds slowly healed and the corrupted blood gave Mistal the extra boost in powers, they decided to wait a few days before Mistal could start to continue his studies and use his powers.

The Satyr and Mistal remained in the Felwoods for quite some time, the Satyr taught Mistal how to gain the Felblood, while Mistal in exchange helped the Satyr with finding special plants and sources to help the Satyr in brewing his potions and poisons, because he was an Alchemist. Months passed and it was finally time for Mistal’aerix to leave the Felwoods, take the teachings to heart and make his way around Azeroth.

Hey there, @ruwendje44! Glad to see you're back and profiling more characters!

Starting off, your character's a bit overweight for his size, going off of this scale-for-average-height-and-weight guide. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not, however!

Quote:Nickname(s): -

If this is blank, simply put a "None" or "N/A" in the place of the hyphen, please!

Age: 758

Would you mind spacing these paragraphs out to look a bit more like this?:

Spoiler:
Quote:Skills and Abilities: Skill paragraph here!

Age: x

Quote:Through years of training; Mistal is skilled in the arts of Fel magic.

This semi-colon here should just be a comma!

Quote:Usual Garments/Armor: Mistal wears ropes that mainly consists of black and red colors.

"Ropes" should probably be "robes" Grin2

Let us know when these fixes are made, please!

You have a good deal of sentences that begin with "and". Could you either remove the "and"s and have the sentences start with the proceeding word, or merge the two sentences?

Quote:Mistal has no clear few on what is wrong or what is right, nor does he care enough to ever debate over such ‘irrelevant’ topics.

"Few" here should probably be "view".

Quote:He takes his talent in the Fel magic really serious.

"Really serious" would read better as "very seriously", I believe!

Quote:This is rather one of his weakest points, seeing as he underestimates his opponents, rather than to belief in their strengths.

"To belief" should be "believe".

Quote:little did the others know, then that he was just reading about his ancestors and the magic they studied before them.

The "L" in "little" here should be capitalized. Also, what other magic are you referring to?

Quote:One of his human friends studied the light, while the other studied Arcane magic.

Some time in a following paragraph after this was mentioned, you said that the First War had occurred. It was some time after the beginning of the First War (now 27 years ago) that the Light was discovered by humans and the majority of races. I'd like to ask that you change this, with that in mind!

Quote:Well almost… because years later the second war emerged and this time he or his High elven brethren weren’t spared the fight.

"Because", "second", and "war" should all be capitalized. Additionally, "neither" should be between "time" and "he" and "or" should be "nor".

Quote:–An wonderful fight- Mistal would mind you, but the Troll had his strengths.

The hyphens could be removed and "an" should just be "a", since the "w" serves as a sort of consonant in this word. Additionally, "mind" should probably be "remind".

Quote:One of his former teachers had to bring him the bad news that his parents had perished while trying to maintain the defenses of Quel’Thalas.

Was this against the trolls, or the enemy forces? The enemy forces hadn't attacked the High Elves, but the trolls had been active during this time, I believe. I'd like to ask that you specify to prevent confusion in the future!

The following sentences still begin with "and":

Spoiler:
Quote:And that is exactly what he is.
Quote:And when taunted to go into battle he will give his everything.
Quote:And he used it with no regret.

Quote:The death of his parents and the betrayal of the humans. It were the ingredients that were needed for Mistal to take on a whole new perspective on the things that mattered through the years.

"It" should be "these", and I'd like to ask that you specify that the human betrayal occurred during the Third War, please!

Quote:But that hunger had to wait for long to be lessened as the Scourge had made their way for Silvermoon city, where Mistal practiced his magic in The Sactum.
Quote:Fellow Fel users gathered around him and together they started to follow the trail of dead bodies to eventually find a large group of horrible looking creatures. The Warlocks did not waste a moment to fight the undead group, but it became obviously clear that they were outnumbered.

Before the Scourge attacked and the high elves became blood elves, the race as a whole scorned the use of fel magic. Such practices would not have been taught publicly, though I'm not certain what you mean by The Sanctum. Could you please describe The Sanctum?

Quote:Mistal quickly ran towards the exit of Silvermoon city. Where more horrible creatures were causing havoc and panic in the streets.

Would you mind merging this all into one sentence?

Quote:As everything began to sink in, Mistal realized it was not save for him to remain in Silvermoon city, and that it would be wise to see if he could find his tutor.

"Save" here should be "safe".

Quote:After years of training Mistal began to lose his patience with the slow pace he and his tutor were moving. Mistal decided it was time for him to go his own way.
Quote:As he went his own way, he began to suffer. To suffer from not siphoning any arcane or Fel energies.

Could you specify before these paragraphs that Mistal became a blood elf? And...

Quote:Weeks passed and Mistal found himself in the Felwoods, where he met a Satyr.

Explain why Mistal's suddenly in Kalimdor?

Quote:The Satyr and Mistal remained in the Felwoods for quite some time, the Satyr taught Mistal how to gain the Felblood, while Mistal in return helped the Satyr with finding special plants and sources to help in the Satyr's occupation as alchemist.

I feel as though the use of the word "occupation" implies that the satyr is a part of society and makes a living off of being an alchemist. I would advise changing the wording to imply that the satyr instead is simply an alchemist.

Once all of this is clarified or fixed, it should be good to go!

Okay edited everything you asked.

And to elaborate on 'The Sactum' It is the Warlock guild at Murder Row. I take it that would be there even before the Scourge, no? Or else I will change it.

I'm pretty certain they would only have formed after the attack of the Scourge and when the blood elves returned from the Outland with Burning Crystals to feed into their addiction. Though, there's no way of knowing for certain, I'd advise against saying that they formed before the blood elves began using fel, just in case. Also, some fixes still have to be made!

It seems I did something wrong when I had applied all the changes. Which I fixed now. :)

Also deleted the mention of the Sanctum and the 'Ands' :)

Thank you for the feedback! :D

Quote:After years of training Mistal began to lose his patience with the slow pace he and his tutor were moving. Mistal decided it was time for him to go his own way.
Quote:After Mistal had left Silvermoon city he began to feel weakened. He knew that it had to do with the Sunwell, because every day that followed after the destruction a terrible yearning for Arcane energies. By this time his people would have adopted the name Blood Elves.

After the highlighted section, could you add something along the lines "was felt"? Also, it was within the same year that the Sunwell was destroyed that Kael'Thas returned from the Outland with his Burning Crystals which the blood elves used to siphon fel from, sating their mana addiction, so I would suggest wording this differently.

Quote:Mistal found himself a tutor mastered in the use of Fel magic.

Please clarify how he found this tutor!

Mistal already left Silvermoon city -a day- after it was attacked by the Scourge. He would leave without knowing he would be victim to the arcane addiction. Also, Kael'Thas wasn't back at this point so therefore he was suffering, without having any idea of the burning crystals.

Sorry for having you make so many changes, but there's a few more things that need to be addressed!

Quote:As a solution to his yearning he figured he needed to find a place where Fel would linger. He remembered reading that in Kalimdor there was a province called Felwood, which held lingering Arcane energies. With no arcane creatures to siphon from, Mistal decided to take his chances and move towards Kalimdor and find himself Felwood.

I can't find anything anywhere detailing that Felwood has any sort of lingering arcane energies. While druids and warlock "clash" here, as stated by WoWpedia, I would like to ask that you remove the lingering arcane energies part as its sort of... lore-make-y. Additionally, could you go into further detail why Mistal would have crossed an entire ocean and risked being filled with arrows by the kaldorei for passing through their territories to get to Felwood when he could have stayed home and consumed the burning crystals?

Once this is clarified and fixed up, you should be good to go for real!

Alright I deleted the reference to lingering Arcane energies as requested and added a small bit to his story to explain -why- he would want to go to Felwood.

Also for why he wouldn't go back to Silvermoon is really simple. It was attacked and a day later he was already on his way. I don't believe Kael'thas would have returned within those 24 hours. So that is why Mistal would continue his journey. Also, Mistal is not the type of person to run back to his 'mom and dad' when he gets cold feet.

:) Hope thats explains why he continued towards the eastern continent.

I was just told that Kalimdor was only discovered during the Third War, so Mistal would have never heard of Felwood. At that time, it was also simply a corrupted part of Ashenvale. (Sorry about that! I really ought to play Warcraft...) But your character would have had to have consumed fel at some point to be a blood elf. (Then again, what I'm hearing from all of this regarding Kalimdor's discovery during this period is rather confusing. Some would say no to this, some would argue yes. I'd say better safe than sorry, have Mistal stay with the blood elves in Quel'Thalas and move to Felwood years later.)
