One of Miss Qaza's pet peeves
#1
All right. I know this is a popular thing to do, and that it's hard to tell sometimes if someone is being serious in /Chat, as there really isn't enough room to explain yourself there, so here we go.

Please, PLEASE do not use Japanese honorifics with my name. This includes -chan, -san, -sama, -kun, -senpai, -kōhai, -shi, etc.

Now, before anyone jumps to any conclusions... I respect the Japanese culture very much. I think it's facinating. And out of respect for this (and other reasons detailed below), I ask that you don't attach their honorifics to my name.

I am not of any notable Japanese ancestry. I do not speak Japanese, I have never been to the country of Japan. I am not really entitled to these titles.

Here's the other reason, and the one that I'm a stickler about. I HAVE a title. I am an unmarried woman, and I am a teacher for a learning level below college. My title is Miss. When my students say my name, the preface it with Miss. When my coworkers speak to me, they do the same, and in turn I preface their name with the appropriate title.

Minor though it may seem, I LIKE this title, and I earned it. I hope to earn the title of Professor or Doctor some time in the future, and my feelings on titles will not change.

Does this mean I want you to call me Miss Qaza? No. This is an informal environment. You are not my students or my coworkers, so I do not need or want a title here at all.

Just. Qaza.

Are we clear?

Yes. However, as soon as you become a Doctor, expect me to constantly call you Dr. Q.

If I earn a doctorate, you're welcome to, Rensin! Heh.

Let me add a little note here that this pet peeve does NOT extend to other people. This is a personal thing. If you want people to add Japanese honorifics to your name, that's fine. I don't mind.

Yeah, I don't enjoy the whole "-chan, etc" deal. I'm not Japanese, so call me by one of my character names, or if you choose to remember, Matt or Matthew.

ばか!

Fandom has always been a mood breaker.
What's the point in using a different language honorific?

Besides, on the internet, we should all be equal, so I don't see why there's need for honorifics anyway.
Kaiza ~ "Heeeeeeeeh?"
Masa'Shira ~ "Choo zhurr?"
Xiao'Lin ~ "Hello darling."
Millian ~ "Thou shall find thy happiness when thou seek for thee."
Chiring ~ "Foy! Come on minion! ...Hrmf..."

Well, regardless of who, I will say this one thing. There is no such thing as French in WoW, in dialect or language.
