Ooooh. She has a point there. I'd never even considered concentrating your arcane energy increasing the heat. My god, the archmage of Dalaran could probably make a bloody supernova! Yeah, if it's as hot as the ruddy sun, just as a theory, I think it might just evaporate the water. And you, and upset the natural balance to the extent of possibly killing a large amount of the natural life by burning it all. That wasn't sarcastic, that was a thought train ^^

Anyway, the temperature should not affect it too much, if I'm honest. The pressure and extinguishing factors of the water are still present, so, based on my theory, you'll have to fuel it more anyway.

But I like the boiling water idea! I guess that limits you to a lower temperature but then, of course, a giant bubble of steam is still going to hurt them, and you can attain higher temperatures with that. This would be a new technique though, because you aren't aiming for the head of your target, you'r aiming for the steam to rise over it. If you're really mean you could submerse the target's <body part> in the bubble of steam and burn it to hell. That'd make for some amusing jokes afterwards:
Player One: What happened to your arm?!
Player Two: It got burned by steam s-
Player One interjects: Basically you can't make a good cup of tea then!
That would be amusing, if the player didn't mind constant sarcastic comments!

Edit: To true, you're a she xD
Thank you, but you mean she =S

sorry
