Hell no. I am not waiting at midnight to get the game my computer cannot run.
And the new tauren starting zone is sad.. Remember that old lady you carried water for? She dead.
As a retail player now, I must say that the new changes are awesome beyond comparison. Garrosh is actually an okay Warchief, the scenery changes are awesome, and they've managed to practically recreate the 1-60 levelling storylines to follow the changes of the Cataclysm, while retaining most, if not all of the old world content! Word of advice: Try it before you dis it, or else Netharion will find you and use you as a chewtoy.
I'm not a fan of retail and take the expansions as base value for RP. I'm mostly excited about goblins and flying in the vanilla world. That's about it.
I agree with Anski, I have never, ever played retail in my life and don't plan on it. I am more looking forward to Goblins, flying and the changes/improvements on the landscape.
Yeah, private servers are a much better RP experience than retail for many reasons.
I do look forward to what new RP Katrinaclysm Cataclysm will bring to us.
I don't think it's a case that I'm not excited for Cataclysm...

I'm just much more interested in The Old Republic, I've adventured over Azeroth and fought dragons and whatever else once already. I want a new adventure in its entirety and Cataclysm is unlikely to offer me that kind of experience.

Oh there's also me refusing to give Activision a penny of my money so no matter how good the game is, I'm not paying for it regardless and I'm certainly not going to the midnight release of it purely out of giving them the middle finger.
Can't say I'm excited for Cataclysm at all, and already decided I'm going to pass it up. I'm sure the changes improved the old world a lot, but the overall goal of the game, quest to the cap and then grind dungeons, hasn't changed. I'm just not willing to pay fifteen bucks a month for that.

Holding out for Guild Wars 2.
I could personaly care less about cata, I never have and most likely never will.
Although I may give it a try if and when this server "updates".
Blizzard is dead to me. They died the moment they allowed Kotick to mount them by the reigns.

But, I'm still gonna buy Diablo III. And probably Starcraft 2 down the line (even though I detest EVERYTHING Blizz has done with that game...).

Why?

Because I have friends that play those games.

That's it, really. That's the secret to getting Krent's money. Peer pressure. I enjoy doing stuff with people. Forming social bonds, going on adventures, interacting with doods. The social connection is what really sells not only Blizzard games, but the majority of my games in general. And I think that's the real reason why people are going to buy Cata. Ain't about the game, its about the community behind it.

That said, I do not have any friends who play retail anymore, so I have no reason to buy Cata. I'm just gonna sit back and wait for it to get emulated.

Gahahaha! Pirate Song, love it.

But...Cataclysm - I can't afford to pay monthly... I'm just fine here. =3
What I think the problem was for Cataclysm is that they leaked the expansion almost a year in advance to its release. Way, WAY too much hype. It gave people a whole year to build their own Cataclysm in their brains as to what it would be like, and all of us built the perfect expansion.
OOOOLD THREAD IS OLD.
