I have been roaming retail since the outage, and it has made me appreciate CoTH all the more. CoTH is pretty much everything I want WoW to be. Sure, you could argue there's more to "do" in retail, but after my years of playing retail I've gotten tired of constantly chasing the latest gear upgrade or figuring out how to deal with whatever class changes they've made this week. I would rather hang out with a small group of folks in a world we have more creative control over, where obnoxious behavior is not tolerated and respect is important.

So even though the downtime has made me sad, it has made me want to contribute in a positive way to CoTH all the more. Thanks so much, Kret(l)ol!

I feel the same thing about WoW. CotH is just so much more satisfying an experience...
Though I must admit, I revisited a different MMO that I haven't played in forever and was shocked to find myself genuinely enjoying generic MMO experience.
Oh Fiesta, I'll never be able to truly quit you.

Though considering that I'm enjoying a Korean grinder more than World of Warcraft these days, my taste just might be terrible.

Never heard of Fiesta. Glad you're enjoying it.

Used to play an old text MUD myself...though, they charge for it now, and the charge isn't really worth what you get anymore considering CoTH is PHREE* with the added surcharge of my monthly Internet bill.

*Disclaimer: Nothing is free, ever. News flash, shocker. I know. :D
I'm going through withdrawals and playing Mabinogi in my spare time.... Oh, how I miss thee, CotH!
I actually went back to retail WoW... Then I realized that I can't play WoW normally anymore when I tried to dodge skills and juke and ended up getting owned by a normal level 80 mob because you have to stand still to cast. Guild Wars 2 has ruined it for me.
Gotta say, Diablo 3 is looking pretty sweet, even though I'm only level 5 and I've -never- played a Diablo game before.
I imagine when Kretol gets the server up and running again it will be something like this

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

However I gotta quote what Reigen was saying.

Kretol Seriously from one stranger to another, -Thank you- so much for diligently trying to get the server back up. A Server you rarely play on, most of us are just hopelessly attached to a world you've created for us. Thank you for keeping us Updated on your progress although most of us are waiting for "SERVERS UP!" thanks for keeping us updated. We are all fortunate for having an admin who is thoughtful and kind. If it was me I wouldn't work on whatever it is you have to do which sounds difficult until after my birthday. (Sunday) Your personality shines through the internet amongst the ungrateful and the bastards. You sir are the definition of win and good people. Thank you again. For the skeptical I don't kiss ass, ever. Especially those who I've never met, server admin or not. Its genuine, so I appreciate it.
Yeah, agreed.

Thank you based Kretol. Ily.
I have no idea how much money you're blowing on components and expedited shipping, but thank you, Kretol.
Mmhmm! Much luff! Thanks a million for your amazing dedication, Kretol.

So, my presumption is that the PSU will be arriving sometime tomorrow. Unfortunately, I work until 8:30p. Therefore, I won't be able to get to work with getting everything hooked up until then. At least I have all the other components connected and ready! Heh.

Fortunately, the reason I can get stuff so (relatively) soon is because there's a Newegg shipping facility pretty close (I'm near San Diego, and the facility is in City of Industry). Therefore, it's not uncommon for me to get something the next day if I order by noon. Of course, I could have gone to Fry's Electronics, but I really never shop there - I always get my schtuff from Newegg. :)

Near San Diego, huh? I should come give you a high-five when I'm there in a few weeks.

Also...throw some money at his face if y'all are able to. :)

I concur with Pharaoh's statement of thanks from one stranger to another.
I thought you lived near San Diego. I remember how on the day of the last server restart, there was a San Diego-Mexico/Arizona widespread blackout and that you live in CA.

I hope we can meet some day since I'd be less than an hour or two away :D

I'll be heading to work in a few minutes, but I should have a PSU waiting for me when I get home!
My plan is to try booting into the currently-existing installation of Windows first. If that's possible, I'll make a copy of all important databases to import into an Ubuntu installation (I'll likely be partitioning the SSD so that the OS is on it as well). Otherwise, I'll simply boot into Ubuntu using a LiveCD and manually move the MySQL and other important folders off of the SSD and then proceed to partition (so that nothing important is lost if anything goes bad during that process).
Anyway, for now, off to work!
Good luck and a thousand and one thank yous, dearest Overlord!
