I tried restarting the login server - try connecting again.

Try restarting your computer in safe mode with networking. Not sure if it'll allow the game to run, but it's something else to try! Something else is to check the Windows Event Viewer (Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer) and search around in there to see if there's anything regarding Wow.exe or something similar.

But on the bright side, now WoW isn't instantly disconnecting me, it tries to connect before eventually failing.

Wooo! Fixed! I just had to turn all my services off, go into safe mode, and reboot.
