Prior to this game I did exactly this ... I would emote extra details so that the other player and readers of the resulting write-up could have some extra insight into the developing story and my character. As the OP states though, the burden of having to filter out and forget such details may be unwanted. I also found that even though other players will correctly ignore ooc/narrated info, it does have the potential to unintentionally taint their decision process. Players may act on such information accidentally without realizing it - subconsciously if you will.

I think its good advice.
- Cepht -

Randian - Sin'dorei Priest, Representative of Greystone Charities
Riley Gillespie aka "Stars" - Unhinged forsaken vagabond with a flare for fire
Alonus - Fallen holy priest with a pet serpent named "Ricky"
Haugus Bach - Forsaken Warlock with an appetite for torture and revenge. Previously a humble shoe maker.

It absolutely is good advice, don't get me wrong. But I don't think I should cut interesting details because there's a chance for metagaming. Perhaps it doesn't come naturally to others, but I've never really had issues with separating what I and my character knows. I'll keep this in mind, however. I wasn't aware this was an issue, and will definitely watch out for it in my future RPs to come.
"...naaaa." She bleated, suddenly very wooly and small.
