Not enough RP, maybe?
#1
Inside the servers, I find there isn't alot of group RP going on. This sounds like it could easily be fixed. Maybe adding some custom RP content to taverns and such.
The card game was a great idea, I think we need more to it.

Feedback appreciated.

Yeah... no.

There's usually tons of RP going on, you just need to find it.

Group RP, like guilds and such... that fluctuates.
As someone wise once said, the important thing is never to be fearless or confident. Most people have more than enough trouble with both. The trick is to fake it, because if you learn to fake it properly, it's the same thing as actually having confidence.

How exactly does a GHI card game spark..Tavern RP? Honestly, all I see is people running around going "DUEL ME!".

Oh wait, we already have that D:
So Ivan say to me "Who was talking device then?"

And then Sergei say "But Ivan is dead"

That is when I realize Sergei was bear.

Well, while I see what you mean, there is nothing wrong with that. Me being new, however, I understand, as my character I'm trying to play right now isn't exactly one who would function well within a city, and I've noticed hardly no one goes into Darnassus, Night Elf or not. I think it's going to be hard for my character to find rp, personally, with the player base I've noticed today, but I shall not give up. I am going to make my character out there, get a profile made up, and if it's accepted, I'll play it despite the lack of potential rp. Maybe join a guild, depending on if any are about that fit the style the character is.

Anyway, I noticed, however, despite all this, there is plenty of rp going on.

I think it gets pretty sad when you log into a game with so much, yet all you want to do is park yourself in a capital city to play an entirely different game.

That's why I'm against all the "Tavern RP" stuff. All it's going to do is encourage more people to park themselves in capital cities to play games that really hold little to nothing to do with Warcraft as a whole.

Like I suggested before, if you want RP games, make up something that actually gets you out of a city and into the wilds. It's not like there is a shortage of things to do...

It's all about what the character wants. If your character is a towngoer, or a dwarf ( lol ), he'll likely be found in a tavern, drinking ale. Exploration RP seems to be a favorite of everyone, but still, hardly ever is there any group RP that isn't Adventure/Exploration. What ever happened to a nice group of 4-5 people sitting down and having a drink IC?

It's not that. I think that it is easier for people to find RP in a capital city as the RP there is concetrated on one area.
The Warcraft world is IMMENSE and so it is harder to find it. I know you have the /who, But it is easier to just walk into a bar when there are people you don't know then running al the way to Badlands or Feralas. The infrastructure around cities is just simply better.

Now in another post there was the suggestion to get the Flight Paths available for anyone.
In this context, that isn't that bad of an idea.
Anyway, after getting pwnzord in one of my threads I started to realize that everyone has it's style and comfortzone.
People come here for fun after all.

p.s. I hope I stayed on topic. :o

It was addressed in said topic as to why that would be seen as uneeded.

As for not enough RP, I think what you mean to say is that there isn't enough of your type of RP, as in what you are looking for.

Generally, CoTH is a small scale server. The largest number I've seen in game, was this year during our summer influx, which was 40+. All said, that's pretty small, however, we'd like to think that what it lacks in quantity we have in quality.

However, it's not always the case for people.

Basically, the best thing that I can tell you, is that if you are looking for tavern RP expect there to be a handful of people at most that will join in. Don't expect everyone to stick around in Stormwind, because much like you, everyone has a style of RP they prefer.

And in regards to the people instantly turning him down, don't immediately jump on him for wanting to inspire a type of RP he likes. If someone decides they wanna do this stuff with him, so be it, but it's not cool to shoot someone down for ideas like this when you can see that there are ideas for the contrast as well. Remember, again, RP is also about personal taste.

Well.. can't that be said about any RP that doesn't involve war then? A couple taking a romantic walk down the canals of Stormwind, a group of Dwarves going on an expedition, hell, even an old Gnome teaching younger ones how to build something, are those not to your liking?

I think it's quite creative that people are gonna think up a game to play in taverns, etc. and who knows may even become a little trend. A group of soldiers positioned to guard some spot.. "Hey, anyone got cards?" "Hey, sure." And they play. Or when people just make up little things. It's fun, creative, and adds a certain spice to the RP. Your character play by the rules? Try and cheat? Not take it seriously? Little things here and there that make a character more realistic.

Just because the game is called "World of WARcraft" doesn't mean it's war 24/7. Not everyone plays, or has to play someone involved in the wars or anything. They can be -effected- by them, but they don't need to be involved. Not everyone runs out to fight for glory and riches and.. all that goodness.

BUT: Back on topic.. I think you may need to look a little harder. I find RP all the time. And you won't -always- find it right off the bat. Sometimes you need to start it. Go somewhere and invite others to join you in LFG, or say that you're somewhere and willing to RP with people if they'd like to join in. Things like that. Good luck. :)

Maybe more people are parked in cities because most people live in cities..
If we're going for realism, then it seems there aren't enough of the population in the cities.

I think CotH should make a few custom little cities, one associated with each race, excluding Dwarves/Gnomes combo, they can live together, seeing as they're all from pretty much the same area. Maybe even 20 or so houses per city, for player housing.

Sure, adventuring may be the favorite of most ( excluding Romance ).. but this world is focused around realism as far as I've seen, and being parked in cities is realism for the world, like it or no.
