Self-Polymorph
#1
Okay, here's the deal, guys...
My mage is currently collecting all of the possible polymorphs and is also (ICly and OOCly) working on his Inscription. So, I was wondering if he could use [item]45854[/item]. Maybe it could be some kind of self-polymorph. If so, would the mage who's polymorphing himself lose his human mind? We know druids keep their minds when shapeshifting, so why wouldn't the mages keep it when polymorphed? So... what do you, guys, think? :)

The polymorph 'spell' either A) Transforms the target into the creature, or B) Replaces the target with a creature. I'm not really sure which, because as far as I know, transformation falls under the category of Nature magic (Druidism), divine magic, but I'm not really sure. Either way, it would be possible to polymorph self, because when polymorphing a target, a polymorph 'spell' is required, whereby a timelimit is specified in construction of said spell. Either, A) The amount of arcane energy put into the spell determines the time limit, or B) The time limit is created during the construction of the spell, not really sure which xD But yea, you can polymorph yourself, but you can't be in control, methinks. Druids can control themselves while shapeshifted because they practice Divine Magic (Not to mention the really long years of study / training required before they can even shapeshift) So yea, hope that helped <:

Okay, would this mean that items like [item]45854[/item] are pure OOC fun? I mean, Arcane can make food and cloud the mind, why wouldn't it be able to shapeshift something? And if the Polymorphs are replacing, this would mean that it's basically a normal teleporting. But we know that the mage can draw power from the ley lines and form fire/ice/arcane blasts, blocks, balls, etc., which is creating of an object. So why wouldn't it be able to shapeshift, by creating a new shell (and then creating back the old one) without affecting the mind?! :?

EDIT: I went looking for items that shapeshift the user, and while looking at them I thought... could the mage actually use some kind of Arcane field around himself, creating an illusion about his shape... not actually change it, but make the others think he had changed it? :?

Oh, and the items:
