A formalized debate forum or subforum so we can hold intelligent debates and battles of wit (perhaps lock it to a certain usergroup and have a GM grant access to it after they stick a stamp on a disclaimer or something) because discussion doesn't exactly cut it and unlike the Blood Mages, such prattle does not bore me.

If you are referring to debating things such as religion and politics, there are many places you can go to do that that are not here. If there's something regarding lore or roleplay, it goes in the lore section as a general rule. Or general discussion, as that is what this place is used for. We do not, however, provide a place for controversial real-world debates as there's simply no need to have it here. It brings drama that we don't need, want or condone.

But personally, I think it'd be easier to have the debates stuck in one place so people don't have to hunt around for a thread to stick their two bits in.

That IS what gen discussion is used for, as well as lore discussion. I'd rather like you to be more specific about what kind of debates you're thinking of, because if it's arguing for arguing's sake then it's not going to do well here.

I mean, the only thing I personally see worth debating on this site is anything that pertains to WoW lore. It is, after all, a community based around a common interest in WoW. If you're looking to debate that, as Moose said, you can take it to the Lore forums. It's fairly organized, and people wouldn't need to hunt around for a place to debate.

If you're looking for real-life issues to be debated - Well, I don't think this is the place. It doesn't have to be religion or politics to miff people, and real-life issues are... Well, fairly easy to get to people with. While it can be handled maturely, I can see a very large chance for people to get offended, and I don't think that we want anyone to feel uncomfortable on CotH.

There are sites where debating is a fairly common thing. Not a whole lot of them stay mature because of their size, however.

"View active topics" right above the board addressing which is just above the topic name, that button seems to work great for me when I want to get myself in trouble.

It pops up all the most active topics in the past couple of days giving me ample opportunity to sift through to find those that could easily be called debates and to see if I want to get involved or not.
