Wolflux`s Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player.:
Hi!

My name is Martin "Wolflux" Øverby. I am a 17 year-old (18 this Christmas) guy, passionate about the Warcraft world. My hobbies are WoW (obviously), music composition, storywriting (I am working on several novels that I hope to publish in the future), zoology & roleplaying (any form).

As a WoW roleplayer I keep to a fairly strict "lore or gtfo"-policy. My characters are usually within reasonable lore boundaries and I am hugely critical over any player using a character that is pushing those limits.
I usually do a lot of research before creating my characters and if I do discover that my character is pushing - or passing the boundaries set by lore, I will always try to correct it as quickly as possible.

I've a tendency to poke other players about their character histories, either IC'ly or OOC'ly, as I love reading the stories other create.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?
I was born and raised in Norway. My primary language is therefore Norwegian, but I feel that I am pretty good in English as well.
That, however, is for my peers to judge.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
It started with World of Warcraft. At first, I didn't hold much interest in the lore and stuff like that as it was my cousin who introduced me to the game.
I began playing on a PvE server (I am still playing on that server today), but I fell in love with the quests after some time. It was interesting to see how my character's story was progressing and how I was interacting with my environment (or rather, the illusion of influencing one's surroundings).

Over time I began to question little things about the story that didn't seem to make sense - so I went ahead and bought Warcraft 3 and the expansion pack.
After 5 years of WoW, I'd say I'm pretty into it! *grin*

What made you seek our server over others?:
To be completely frank: Blizzard's RP servers suck. It's why I still play on PvE realms on live.

Myself and a friend of mine began making plans for a private RP realm called Epilogue and eventually we pulled through with it. Reaching open beta, Epilogue had become a very epic RP server.
I was part of its GM team.

Eventually, though, Epilogue fell - we ran into a lot of issues with the moderation team and the playerbase, there was too much drama, yadda yadda, our management was thinning. Eventually, we shut it down.

After Epilogue, I do not want to go back to WoW RP realms so I looked for another server I'd heard much good about: CotH. And here I am.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Anything goes, really. I tend to mix a lot of RP's together; one character I remember I used was a relaxed human, wielding two daggers and a handgun. Quite the explorer and enjoyed fighting as much as the next guy, didn't really mind solitude or social interactions and MAN she loved her ale.

Honestly, I have no preference.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
My favourite race is definitely the Tauren. I love them because of their background and culture; they very much appeal to me and my interests. They are everything I want to work with when making a character, honestly!
I worship them cow people =O

My favourite class is the Warlock, but that is purely for PvE reasons. I have no favourite classes from a lore perspective.

What are your expectations of this server?:
A good roleplaying environment. Simply put, I just want to RP.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Maturity. Oh, dear gods: MATURITY!

The absolute immersion-killer is people going "((but i dont want to this and that))" in /say or /whisper or through any other channel if things don't go their way!
Being able to deal with problems in a reasonable manner is also good - something I see far too few people actually do!

My faith in humanity may yet be saved n_n

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
I have a story that goes over 64 pages, but I'll spare you the horror. Instead, here's a preview from one of the free stories I'm writing. Keep in mind that this is a rough draft and it has yet to be gone over for errors.

And it's not WoW-related.
------

Bodies littered the ground, some still stwitching in deathly cramps. A young man dressed in a long, black coat stepped over them, a golden sword in his hand. His hair was short and brown and his face stern - determined.
A young woman followed him, wearing a pair of custom boots, hotpants and a short top. Guns and ammo were strapped around her torso and she also carried two handguns, sheathed to
each of her hips. Her hair was long and black with tints of purple and her face beautiful, soft - a strong contrast to their surroundings.
Both carried a necklace, its insignia shaped like a silvery star.

"Lux, we've been wandering the streets for hours." the woman said, her keen eyes ever-scouring the area.
The young man, Lux, stopped and turned to face her.
"Then what do we do, Becky?" he asked her, heaving a sigh. "London isn't even recognizeable anymore; there are dead bodies on every corner... and worse, most, if not everything is on fire..."
And truly it was so; even though the clock said past midnight the sky was illuminated by the fiery buildings all over the city.
"Worse yet, if we linger for too long they will find us." he finished.
Becky shrugged.
"I dunno," she began, "but we're no good when tired. We got to find a place to rest; not even Paladins can go too long without sleep."
Lux pondered her words for a moment - she had a valid point. His muscles were aching after a full day of purging.
"Alright, let's head for HQ... after we're done with this last mission." he finally concluded.
Becky drew her two handguns, nodding.
"Then let's..." she said grimly.
Lux turned and began walking again, his hand clenching firmly around the hilt of his sword. It began to release a bright glow.
Show me...
His eyes closed and in his mind he was led toward the building on his right.
"We're in luck..." he mumbled, raising his weapon. This building was not ablaze, but it had clearly had its share of beatings; the windows were shattered and the metal-clad entry had collapsed, mere rubble blocking the doorway. But seeing as time was of the essence, they both entered through one of the broken windows.
Once inside, Lux's sword lit up the hallway, revealing a wrecked passage, full of broken chairs, tables, bottles – and of course, bodies... dead bodies. Freshly killed, by the looks of it.
Becky looked somberly upon the corpse of a child and his sister.
"Not even the children were spared..." she muttered. Lux lowered his weapon, slowly opening a door. Quiet sobbing penetrated the silence, female, accompanied by soothing hushes.
They both approached the source as quietly as they could, Becky keeping her guns in front of her, Lux keeping his weapon lowered.

Beneath a large crucifix engraved on a stone wall sat two people, embracing each other. One of them was indeed sobbing; clearly, they loved each other. The male noticed Lux's glowing blade and screamed, his love not late to follow his example.
"Easy, easy!" Becky called out. "We're not them!"
The light increased in intensity, lighting up their surroundings. The screaming ceased, slowly, the woman now sobbing again.
"We're here to help..." Lux said, approaching them – but after a few steps he stopped. The woman's arm was bleeding.
"Are you bitten?"
The woman's response was more sobbing.
His voice increased in volume. "Are you bitten?!"
"She was bitten." the man replied after a painful minute of silence. "Why?"
The two Paladins cursed loudly, she aiming her guns toward the woman and he raising his sword. The other man rose at once, putting himself between them and her, his face revealing both shock and disgust.
"Don't you dare!" he yelled, his frantic voice echoing through the ruined room. The woman's sobbing increased.
"Step aside!" Becky answered. "We need to take her now!"
The man grabbed his love's arm, pulling her up to him, embracing her.
"No... she's not like them! She's human... can you not – ggh!"
The woman, still sobbing, had her teeth in his shoulder. As if realizing what she was doing, she suddenly pushed him away, her eyes widened in shock. Somehow, the man flew across the room, landing upon some rubble, dazed.
"Hun'?" he whispered.
The woman stood hunched, her fingers clawing at her head, muttering inchoherently, although two words were repeated every second.
"Hurt you..... hurt you..."
Before anyone could react she was upon her love, tearing at his flesh with her teeth and hands, blood splattering around the pair. The woman screamed and sobbed, as if though completely aware of what she was doing, but unable to stop herself.
The sounds, all too familiar for the two Paladins, would have had anyone hunched over, vomiting.

Lux uttered a prayer as Becky emptied her magazines upon the woman, the frenzied... thing soon falling over, completely inanimate. The man, despite his grievous injuries, was still alive.
Lux looked at Becky. "Cover me."
She gave a nod.
He approached the writhing man, raising his sword for a deadly thrust.
"I am sorry..." he whispered as he stood above him, the tip of the blade aimed directly at the man's head.
And he drove it through him.

After making their way outside in silence, Becky finally spoke up.
"That screaming would have attracted something... we'd better leave."
"I agree," Lux nodded, "but Becky..."
She looked at him curiously. He didn't continue.
"... Nevermind."
Becky shrugged, fetching the walkie-talkie strapped to her belt.
"HQ, this is group twelve, over?" she spoke into it. And response was almost immediate.
"Group twelve, HQ here, break. What is your status, over?"
"Mission failed – subjects could not be collected, break."
She looked at Lux again, her face worried.
"One of the subjects had been bitten and assaulted the other. We had to put them both down, over."
The speaker crackled.
"Copy that, group twelve. What is your position, over?"
"Sector twenty-five point three, over."
"Copy that. A transport will arrive in ten. Do not move away from the sector. Over."
"Copy that, HQ. Will wait for the transport. Over and out."

She put the walkie-talkie back on her belt. Lux stared blankly down the street, lost in thought. Becky approached him and put a hand on his shoulder. There was no response. He had certainly changed a lot since when they first met. They used to be great friends – maybe even something more than friends – and he used to be outgoing and kind-hearted.
But ever since the plague – since when he had become a Paladin, his heart had turned cold. He was no longer intimate, nor caring. He seemed to her like a machine now, more than a human.
It saddened her, but even so she remained convinced that the old Lux still existed, deep within this new stranger.

"Lux..." she whispered to him. He turned toward her, but she could tell he was not paying attention to her, but to everything else.
"Don't let what happened in there affect you..."
She knew very well that it was not like that, but anything to break the silence was appreciated. She could hear the sound of a helicopter in the distance.
When he didn't respond, Becky continued.
"We'll find a way to end this madness... I just know it."
His eyes shut and he pulled her close, nodding. Even though she realized he was only trying to reassure her that he was fine, it felt good to know that he would still touch her.
"I'm fine..." he said.
They stood like that until the helicopter arrived, a rope ladder nearly hitting them both across their heads.
Without another word they ascended the ladder, staring out across the burning city through the windows as they flew toward Finsbury Park.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Not at this moment, no.

Welcome to the server! I've been noticing a lot of people from Epilogue coming here, and I'm glad that there are people who write really well among them. Heh, a lot of the people have been disappointing, to say the least.

Yeah, I can relate to that - even when I was working on Epilogue, there were always at least 3-4... what shall I say? Rather disappointing players.
