Renberg`s Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player.:
Greetings everyone, Dewy here... I'm a bit confused if this introduction is for me or my character, but we'll proceed as if its about me. I'm an old Gamer... ran old style D&D games before AD&D came out. When PC's made their debut me & my friends were on a C-64 programming random dice generators and monster compendiums.

We played Ultima for years as a crappy "RPG" but enjoyed it none the less. When Ultima Online came out my Wife and I were smitten and have spent numerous years both on the pay servers and in the community of a private UO server.

When Wow came out we resisted the first attempts to pull us away from our private servers... but Wow is indeed beautiful, and vast. Exploration and Immersion are some of my favorite points in gaming.

But the Pay servers lacked discipline. RP servers overrun by spamming children and bots... griefers who derive their gaming pleasure from disrupting your play... I quit in disgust and found the private realms.

In the last few years we have bounced back and forth between a couple of Private Realms and our old UO community that is still partially active.

We enjoy our most recent home but tire of the never ending Blizz rat race of Level/ Gear questing.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?
We hail from LA... Lower America that is. Alabama to be specific. English is the primary and preferred language... common as it is known on the internet.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I despised it... mostly for dragging several of my friends off into a beautiful game with lousy game mechanics. But a friend had several accounts for his family and offered me his old computer and to pay for an account to help him and his family through the initial stages of the game.

I was of course hooked... but loathed the pay servers.

What made you seek our server over others?:
Well... I have been looking for an RP realm for a while actually... don't know why this one stood out tonight, but generally my searches just turn up Blizz clones or "Fun" servers. I have found a couple of decent looking "Custom" servers, but again... all big shoulders or get ganked.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
The wife and I just like to explore and play the game. We will get into our roles and play them... but more than likely shun large crowds or raids. I've never really liked Pvp, but will participate if its "mature" and in good fun.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
This is where me and Blizz/ Azeroth Lore go astray from on another. Allow a brief rant and I'll answer the question directly.

Nightelves and those floppy ears just irk me. The whole pastel world, gaily colored "land in the top-o-the-tree" doesn't set well either.

Draeni do not fit into the world imho, and are just pastel blue Tauren models... so sad.

Forsaken are not a "Race" they are undead... ergo imho out of place "as applied" even with the lore twisted 32 ways to Sunday to make it fit.

So, now that I have that out of the way it makes picking a favorite much easier. I like Alliance best of all, and find the shorter races to my liking as a player (can see more of the screen). most of my "Wow life" has been spent in or around Dun Morogh trying to get on top of one or another of the mountains... just to see if I can.

I like my Hunters... but have had a lot of fun exploring different classes at my wife's side. So its important to add that I enjoy both the Paladin and priest classes in that role... and recently as a pair of Gnomish Mages... so Favorite... hard to pick.

What are your expectations of this server?:
Expectations eh,? Well... I've learned from experience to set that bar low and leave room for pleasant surprise. Unfortunately what keeps me moving from server to server is a high expectation for what the game can achieve with the mojo.

With the right combo of seer/ dev team/ admin AND the right attitude in the community I can see where a Wow RP server could be quite amazing. That sorta sets the bar high right there... and lots of Wow private realms fail right away... if that is one of the measures applied.

I have to also admit that our current home is an exceptionally smooth operating piece of software. We have been spoiled both in Wow and in UO emulation by some good Dev/ Admin teams running smooth worlds. Both in keeping them up and operating relatively bug free... and in keeping immature gamers away from our gaming experience.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Hard one there... several of them I really like.
Respect
Tolerance
Language
Maturity
Humility
Those are all musts imho... but the one that excites me the most:
No Godmoding

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
I'd love to tell ya my story, shame of it is... there ain't much to tell.
Ma Renberg plucked me from the arms of a frozen corpse thirty sumpthin years ago and kept me fed and warm. Poor thing was daft, I had to teach myself to write and do numbers. But we made a team!

As soon as I was old enough to be trusted out of sight I was huntin and fishin, and Ma Renberg would cook whatever I brought back to camp and tell me stories about her husband, Sgt. Rosch Renberg and his adventures defending Dun Morogh while the King's troops were off fighting in one war or another.

You may recognize the name of his famous squad, "Renberg's Rifles"... no? Hmm, no one else I've talked to has heard of them either, but anyway, as I was saying...

I learned the lands behind Rumbleshot's outpost like the back of my hand, but Ma Renburg didn't take kindly to crowds, so most of my years were spent playing tag with the young snow leopards and dodging troll and trog patrols. Never staying in one place for long, but she had several "favorite" spots where her and Sgt. Renberg courted and we'd visit them time and time again over the years.

Last spring Ma came down with the croup and she never pulled out. We spent the last weeks in her favorite nook in the hills. I pulled the supports down around her as I left her in the hills. Ol' Rumbleshot took pity on me, outfitted me as a hunter and sent me to Coolridge Valley with a note vouching for my skill with axe and gun.

So if'n you ain't heard of Renberg's Rifles yet... just wait. You will... Rik Renberg is here to make sure of it.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Umm, is there a preview button... oh wait maybe this is it...
So tell me again, where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?

Welcome! I'm sad you feel that way about a few good races, especially the Forsaken, who were created by the events of Warcraft 3 and built into an interesting race.

I love that undead models are included in the game, I would enjoy a world that explored that as an option after the character "died"... but a RACE?! C'mon... they are not a Race... they are Dead "people" from some other race reanimated.

Are Zombies Black, White, Hispanic or other? No... they are Zombies.

Night Elves? How about Day Elves or Twilight elves... maybe Dusk Elves. Again, is there something wrong with just saying ELF... and then sub-dividing them into clans afterwards? Same disdain for "Dark Dwarves"... bah, they just need a bath! We don't call the others Iron Dwarves... or Aerie Dwarves do we?

I might could get behind the Draeni (sp?) being added to the game if they weren't just Blue Tauren models... but Blizz did that, not the folks who write the lore.

Thanks for the welcome... I have been looking for a home to RP in for quite a while... I hope this is that home. If not its back to UnWowing a Wow emu to make "the perfect game".
So tell me again, where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?
