Chib`s Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player.:
I can't remember any more how long I've been roleplaying.. quite some time, though I've only recently gotten any good at it. When I started out - gotta be at least 6 years ago now - I'm not ashamed to admit I was bloody apalling. But yeah, these days, a lot better... I hope. Most recently I've been RPing in obscure ways, mostly light PvP-RP games on the largely unknown BYOND system, the most recent of which would be a game based on the Bleach universe (Before you ask, no, I'm not one of those annoying otaku.), where these days I'm actually staff. Regardless, I'm quite familiar with the ways of a low-population RP involving, for want of a better term, 'swords and sorcery' - for all it's quirks, Bleach isn't much different to regular fantasy.
But anyways, enough about my RPing background. As a person, I'm sixteen, English, female (no, I don't expect you to take me at my word, nobody else does), and apparently I'm pretty cool. I disagree, but.. it's your friends' job to pretend, right? I've been into all sorts of odd things since a young age; I read Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' when I was tiny, I've been a fan of Star Wars since forever, and almost anything that falls into Sci-Fi, Fantasy or something similar tends to appeal to me.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?
Great Britain, born and raised. And yes, it totally is still Great, despite how it sucks. More specifically, England, and naturally English is my first language. Though I do speak a fairly good amount of French, and I'm trying (not very hard) to learn Latin (don't ask).

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I once played the original Warcraft (oldfag alert), at the age of about 8, at a friend's house, and eventually ended up getting Warcraft II when it came out. I kinda liked it, but never played it that much... and then Warcraft III came out. Suffice to say it was awesome and still is. The campaign felt a hell of a lot better than the originals, the graphics are stil far from 'old', and the system just works. Anyways, I'm rambling here. After a long while of playing the heck out of WCIII (not to forget TFT), I saw the first trailer for World of Warcraft somewhere.. probably the internets, and instantly interested..... until I saw that it had a subscription fee - the sad inevitability of good MMOs - but I tried the however-long-it-was trial, and found that I simultaneously did and didn't want the game. And now quite recently I have a new PC, I found Warcraft III again, and thought "I wonder if there're any good private servers..."

What made you seek our server over others?:
The RP aspect, obviously. In all honesty, yes, it was the first thing that came up on Google, but if it hadn't been for the wiki and whatnot - most encouraging of the quality of the administration at the very least - I would quite likely have gone "Meh, nah." and either found something else or just given up.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Almost anything'll do, so long as it's good and with at least two people (I've known some people to RP alone.. hopefully not here), but my personal favourite would probably have to be not a fight, but the lead-up to one. From a meeting of two people that aren't exactly friends, to the gradually more heated conversation, to the outright hostilty, and -then- to the ass-kicking. The kind of put-on civility you get between enemies before they start killing each other is just fun to do.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Ever since Warcraft III I've loved Orcs and Trolls for their amusing hidden dialogue, but thanks to The Frozen Throne, I'm now quite enamoured with the Blood Elves. High Elves were never all that interesting to me, but everything that took them from 'those slightly-clichéd elves' to 'those awesome blood elves' made me change my mind. Particularly with Kael and the Illidari. Class-wise, I quite like Paladins and Mages - odd combination, I know - but it's because they're what I know. First time I played the free trial of WoW, I rolled a Troll Mage and had a great, if slightly difficult, time. First time I played a private PvP server, I went for a Blood Elf Paladin, and found it just as fun.

What are your expectations of this server?:
Honestly? I'm not sure. I like to keep an open mind, really, if I don't have any expections, I can't -really- be impressed, but neither can I be disappointed. But if I had to say, I'd say I'm expecting a fairly tight-knit community, considering the small playerbase. I imagine it'll take a while to integrate into said community, but I'm not complaining. I also expect, based on the amount of work that evidently goes into the off-server stuff, the server itself is well run, and judging by some of the profiles and introductions I've read for reference, the RP is great too.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Probably... the thing about what is and isn't acceptable in OOC channels. I'd say "you have no idea", but you probably do, of how many gigantic flame wars I've seen caused by someone making a passing remark about religion x, politician y or something-else z. It's just not worth the hassle, and I'll be happy to leave my politics and beliefs outside.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
Call me lazy, but.. I've been writing a couple of stories over the past few months, so I figure an except thereof should be fine. If not, let me know and I can do something more appropriate,
Excerpt from 'Parasite';
Ema hadn't lived on the satellite for as long as she had without picking up a few tricks along the way. She'd been observing the fiasco over the security network from the comfort of her desk, until things started to go horribly wrong. A crewman grievously wounded, a clearly dangerous criminal at large, and a missing biohazard, not the best list of things to happen in your work day. When she saw the engineer being admitted to the medical bay, she left her swivel chair so fast it span for quite some time after she'd sped out of the door, headed straight there to warn the Doctor.
She burst through the doors as fast as they'd let her, only to find herself staring down the barrel of Damion's handgun. In one quick motion, he leapt from cover, circled around Ema, and placed said gun to her temple, grinning maniacally. “Thank whatever's up there, some providence coming my way at last!” he exclaimed, twisting the weapon painfully against his new hostage's flesh. “Now, put the gun down, we wouldn't want to miss, and hit the pretty young Miss, now would we?” he added, miming pulling the trigger of his own gun. For Ema herself, the mock action alone was terrifying enough to bring a cold sweat to her forehead, as it simply demonstrated how easily he could kill her, even by accident.
Kaibura stood, hands high to show that he wasn't aiming at anything, and replied “Chivalrous to the end, naturally.”, his voice drenched with disdain. “What do you want?” he continued as he lay his weapon down on the bed, effortlessly switching from the role of advantaged soldier to disadvantaged negotiator. “I want you to stay there looking gormless, while I leave with the girl, and my friend here leaves with your Doctor. We'll be back to deal with you another time.”
Before he had a chance to so much as raise an eyebrow at ‘and my friend here', the Lieutenant indeed looked gormless as the unconscious Brian suddenly rose from the floor, slung Ben over his shoulder, and moved across to stand with Damion. “What the hell is this, Mutiny?” Kaibura demanded of his erstwhile co-worker. There was no reply from him, but Damion literally threw his head back and laughed aloud; “Mutiny? Hah, you haven't the faintest idea what you're dealing with here, have you?” Or rather, he would have. Ever the tactician, the security head saw the dramatic gesture as an easy opening, and quickly, simultaneously raised his wrist and pressed a button on his sleeve, activating a small concealed blade. The razor shot out, aided by a miniature gauss mechanism, and straight into the shoulder of the laughing man before he could reach the word ‘dealing'. Sparing but a moment to smirk at finally getting to use his trademark sleeveblade, he quickly yelled “Run!” at Ema, whilst grabbing the sub-machinegun at an almost impossible speed to point it in the general direction of the doorway and open fire. He estimated that any possible hits to the doctor would be superficial, and, at the very least, the hail of bullets would force the infiltrator and the traitor the retreat from out of the room whilst at least one of their captives was able to escape.
The odds were indeed on Kaibura's side; Ema dived straight for cover the moment Damion's shoulder and Kaibura's sleeveblade met, just in time to evade the gunfire that peppered the walls above and behind her. Cursing loudly, the two ducked out through the doorway, and with no reasonable way to recover the situation at that point, fled to find a more secluded location to lay low. As soon as he was sure the enemy had left, the Lieutenant took a seat on the bed by Ema, and with no hint of anything but purpose, said “We need to talk. I assume you came to give an explanation.”

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Can't think of much.. though I'm not sure which patch version I ought to be running. I might just be blind, but I couldn't find it, and I'm worried I might have updated too far.

Welcome! I'm fairly sure it says the patch version on the main site. If not, it would be 3.2.2.
