To get a template on the site, you use:
In this case, we want:
If you shove that code at the bottom of your articles (preferably just above where you'd place the categories), it'll appear for you.
The nice thing about templates is that you can
really make them simple and customizable. I can create a template that allows you to enter various tags (race, gender, age, whatever) and they can spit out results in a format that we want. I haven't placed any of these on the wiki yet because, to date, not a lot of people are using the wiki as anything other than a resource. However, it might be fun to create a character template that displays pertinent information (similar to WoWWiki's
NPCbox template).
With something like that, we could have a universal format for basic profiles (unless people edit their profiles in their own way, like I tend to. Teehee) which is more visually appealing. Also, since we could provide links to other articles within those templates (for example, to the appropriate class and race categories), we'd remove a lot of the
dead-end articles that we currently have on the site -- of which we have over 1,500 and most of which are profiles! That is 1,533 articles that currently don't link to anything at all.
I've been loathe to implement something like that since it would be pretty intensive and also would be a pretty significant overhaul of existing profiles. I've placed the idea on the back burner until I have the opportunity to see how Kretol reacts to the idea. For the time being, I'm just busying myself by tweaking and inter-linking multiple informational articles on the wiki.
