A Server Occurence

Nothing ever happens. The world is dead.

Do you know how players and game masters always create events and participate? Of course you do! But what about the actual world, more people inhabit Azeroth than the bunch of us. Don't they ever do anything, doesn't anything ever happen? When is the last time a storm hit Stormwind? Is it not possible for the wetlands to flood? The Barrens are even running dry on droughts! It's not easy to form these ideas.. Or actually, it is.

I know, problem.. How would you do that? How could a raid of centaurs possibly invade a Tauren encampment easily and have a dozen other events run all over the world?! It'd need weeks or even months of preperation.

No. No, it doesn't.

No one needed to be there, not any of the players at the least. Could we not just broadcast the message and react to such a happening? Couldn't we just spice up Azeroth with some random events on which we can react? Let's make the world more lively!
Little by little, one travels far.

I like this idea. I like this idea alot.

Things like the BP Oil Spill wasn't a scripted event. It wasn't something BP organized members around and set up for their own pleasure.

It was an occurrence. It happened and different groups -BP, U.S Government, Coast Guard- had to solve it. No structure, no order, just a little unplanned chaos to break up this 'peaceful' world and cause some drama.

A poor example, yes, but it's fresh in our minds and it's a good example of how a terrible, un-planned natural occurrence can cause character building and action.

It would be a very interesting way to boost activity and character building if a GM, every so often, randomly caused a drought in an area or caused an explosion or other natural disaster or occurrence that motivated people to RP.

I'd love this! Many people get bored with the same world again and again...
And if it possible for Booty Bay to blow up, it would be perfect!
