The tome that Aganias uncovered at the academy in Azshara.

"Knowledge is wealth, and wealth is power." -Aganias Athyre
Since her awakening, Aganias has begun to research the cure to which afflicts her; undeath. During her studies, she has uncovered only what seems to be the beginning of the multiple steps it takes in order to cure the infected. The plague was developed by top Scourge Alchemists shortly before the Third War. They intentionally designed the plague to be extremely potent, and nearly everlasting. The scourge was so precise when they designed the plague, they left few back doors for any kind of cure. Most believe that the Scourge was given this recipe from an outside source, saying the being that possessed the recipe before was most likely one of incredible power.

Recently, Aganias was working at her normal workstation in the Apothecarium of the Undercity, when two Forsaken men, also in the Royal Apothecary Society, casually strolled behind her. As they walked by, she could not help but overhear that they were talking about a treatment that could lead to a possible cure to undeath. The gratitude of this made Aganias' mind wander, instantaneous recalling Lordaeron in it's former glory. She remembers the spring and summer time she used to spend there with her family; the feel of the gentle breeze upon her back, her hair flowing and long. She remembered wandering the almost endless fields of blue and purple blooms that laid just outside the front gates. Just as quickly as the thought had come, it had gone. She got up from her wooden stool, and began to follow the men closely, but not closely enough for them to be alarmed.

They talked of a book that lies within an Academy in Azshara. Aganias became more, and more interested as the two men continued to converse about the powers of a tome that may have recipes of an unknown form of alchemy. Anything the men said from that point was very hard to understand, and she began to move more closely. As she moved closer, the men talked of how the Magus who ran the Academy most likely does not even know the book is in his possession, as it was said that the cover was nearly completely faded. They continued to talk of the Arcane arts and how they are used to enchant herbs with special traits, or even altering their properties altogether.

Aganias thought a moment of what this could mean. She pondered whether or not mixing two infused herbs of different genus would react with an entirely different alchemical result. Puzzled, Aganias went into the Library, one floor beneath the Apothecarium. She began to search for books relating to the Arcane, and schools that taught it's practices. After days of reading through many books of the Arcane, she finally read of a relatively unknown Arcane Academy situated high in the mountains of Azshara.

Her days of searching had paid off, she finally set off from the Undercity. After several days, she finally arrived at the borders of Azshara. She followed the directions she remembered reading in the book, and began looking into the distance, trying to get a sense of general direction. As she kept walking, she started to feel a tingling sensation near the end of her fingertips, for the first time since she was alive. Concerned, she began to examine the ends of her fingers. They were emitting tiny blue sparks that glistened as they vanished.

Suddenly, her mind flashes into a past time. She looks at her hands again, they were flesh, the normal scar she had gotten as a little girl on her palm, her ring on her finger. As she continued to examine her hands, they began to glow a faint blue, and sparks began to fly out from her fingertips. She looks up, and her parents are standing in front of her in the door threshold of their home, looks of disappointment on their faces. Her Father starts to shake his head, her Mother begins to cry as he comforts her. They turn and leave Aganias. She looks back down to the floor, realizing the ground beneath her has turned to blood.

Instantaneously, she wakes up from her daydream, and she realizes Arcane magic is surrounding her, in a beautiful orchestra of flashing and glistening blue sparks. Just then, she realized the sparks are merely a symptom of her previous Arcane addiction. Her parents were not particularly keen on the side effects that came along with Arcane use, forbidding her to use it until she was considered responsible enough to handle it.

She looked into the mountains, and saw what looked to be a small spire, above it suspended a small, glowing blue symbol. Aganias was thrilled and made her way up the mountain as fast as she could. Upon overcoming several large cliff sides, and nearly losing a few bones, she arrived at the Academy. A luxurious blue glow radiated from the entire building, as if it was some source of energy. She had finally made it.

Cautiously, she entered the front entrance of the school. The entrance was quite extravagant, as bookshelves lined the room. Ominously, a small sign hovered in the air near the stairs leading up; "Make yourself comfortable, you will be assisted shortly". Aganias begins to browse the shelves, on the off chance the book happened to be there. She pulled down several dusty old tomes, and began to thumb through them, finding no significant information other than Arcane jarble.

Just then, a small, male Gnome appeared from around the corner of the one of the shelves, and startled Aganias as she read. After asking the Gnome several questions, he assured her she was at the right Academy. Relieved she began to explain about what she was looking for. The Gnome began to strike a confused look, as he scratched his chin. He told her that Alchemical books were rarely, if ever, in magical academies. As she told him of the Arcane values of the book, he seemed to perk up a bit, and told her to follow him to the correct section.

Several floors up the tower, he went to a section labeled as "Conjuration". The Gnome then told her that any book within the academy were only for students. She had not come all this way to have a Gnome tell her to go home. After a few minutes of talking him down, Aganias was allowed the look over the books, pulling nearly ever book from the shelf, looking for the correct one.

Hours after she had began, she finally had found the book, "Arcane and Alchemy, the Art of Infusion". It was the only manuscript in the section that had both "Alchemy" and "Arcane" in the title. She was absolutely thrilled, and was the nearest to joy she had felt since her death. She sat down and immediately began thumbing through the book. As she skimmed the pages, she noticed that the book was split in half, one half was written in Common, the other half was written in Demonic. Unfortunately for her, Demonology was one subject she was very reluctant to pursue. She began reading passages from the book explaining how raw Arcane energy can influence and alter an herbs alchemical structure through means of magical infusion. Her eyes widened as she began reading, in a deep state of concentration.

Just as quickly as she had begun reading, she was startled yet again, this time by a man, a Forsaken. Aganias was pleased to see another Forsaken, as she began to exchange conversation. The Magus introduced himself none other than "Edgar", he was the caretaker for the academy. After several minutes of talking, Edgar allowed Aganias to borrow the book from the academy, so long she returns it when she is done with it. She bids him farewell, and sets off out of the tower, tome safely tucked into her pack.

Aganias made her way back to the Undercity as quickly as she could. After several days of travel, she returned. The Apothecarium was extremely busy, as she pushed her way through people to reach her normal work station. She sits down on the stool, and tosses her pack onto the table, with a thud, and making all of her Alchemy tools jingle in their stands. She opens the pack quickly and takes the tome out. She opens the book, and begins her studies. Many passages in the book were very startling to her, saying that herbs, like physical items, could be transmuted. The down side to transmuting an herb, is that it changes it's structure to form a poison if the herb normally has beneficial effects, or a beneficial effect from a poisonous one.

As members of the Royal Apothecary Society walked behind her, she was sure to hunch over the book as much as possible to conceal what she was doing. Aganias was extremely reluctant to hand over the tome to the Society, simply because she knew they may as well take it, and design another plague, just to spite the living.

Aganias has only studied and understood approximately 700 of the 4000 pages of the text, so far. She intends to read it in it's entirety before doing any sort of physical test. She is also beginning her search for an extremely powerful, yet stable Arcane Magus to aid her with her alchemical experimentation.

"Undeath is one paradox none can understand." -Aganias Athyre

As of late, Aganias has began reading numerous accounts of instantaneous asphyxiation from numerous herb infused compounds. There were tales of alchemists long ago who unknowingly dabbled in the art of Infusion.

One in particular the manuscript told of, was an alchemist by the name of Doctor Ricardo Benese. He was said to have lived between the First and Second War. In a dream, he was said to have, a very old and very wise Witch Doctor came to him, telling him that the Arcane arts held an entirely new era of what we knew as Alchemy.

Willingly, Doctor Benese pursued this. He gathered many different species of herbs, and because he himself happened to be a Master of the Arcane arts, began to Infuse each herb with uneven power. The key to Infusion is using the exact same amount of energy on each herb you wish to combine, so they do not counter react and become extremely unstable. As he started to combine two of the herbs he had infused in his Pestle, an immediate alchemical reaction occured, sending a fatal plume of noixious fumes into his face.

When they found Doctor Benese's body near his work table, the flesh of his face had been completely melted away. His eyeballs were singed, and the front part of his hair was burned away. They investigated what he had been doing at his work station, but found only a small bit of purple paste in the Pestle, and several other herbs. They closed the case as a freak accident.

As Aganias read of this, it began to make her concerned. If Infusion was this dangerous, she was going to need much more protection than the mask she wore over her face to protect her from toxic fumes. While reading the tome, she happened to come across with a page with a very strange blueprint. It appeared to be some sort of breathing apparatus. On the page it also told of how it takes the air, and filters it through the void in order to purify it.

The secret of the mask lies within it's breathing filters. As the wearer breaths inward, a small void of Shadow opens, taking the air breathed in, and passing it through the void, dispersing all toxins immediately before entering the lungs. There is also a protective cover over the rest of the face to prevent splattering or toxic clouds.

The tools to make the mask were extremely easy to find, a quick visit to a few vendors around the Undercity and she had all of the reagents required to assemble. She followed the directions from the book in order to assemble it. The last step was to insert two Soul Shards, crushed, into the filters, and then be infused with Shadow magic.

With the mask complete, she can continue on with the physical experimentation that she was hoping for. She considers these breathing apparatuses to be a crucial part of her alchemical supplies. With the confidence to find the cure, her will can lead her to anything she dreams of.
