The Hunt for Duskrunner
#1
Aroes paced back and forth across the common room of the inn of the Leafwind Sister hood debating his next move with himself.

Damnit Fala what are you doing? Without you this whole effort against the Circus could fall apart at the seams...and now you run off on some wild ass demon hunt on another planet...Magic help me am I the only one with any sense around here?

The frustrated mage continues to run various scenarios in a muttering tone, much to the distaste of the other elven guests. After concluding the only option is to go find him one question remains...Where in Outland in Falathorei Duskrunner?

Some hours later...

Aroes walked into the Rachet inn looking for a certain blood elf for help, instead he found someone he did not expect to see there..just one of the few people that might know where exactly Fala went...Shivala. Aroes approached Shivala and retreated to a dark corner of the inn as to be weary of prying ears. After a short discussion and arguement, they were both in agreement that Falathorei must be brought back so he could lead the effort to stop the vile Circus.

A few portals later...

The two stepped out of another portal and ended up in the Blasted Lands right in front of the gateway to Outlands. Shivala continued to nag about not teleporting without telling your passengers or something of that matter..truth is I really didn't care. As we approached the Dark Portal I somehow managed to trip over something in the dirt...a book, but most importantly..Fala's book. I stopped right there to read it and something on the very last page caught my eye...he was going to find others of his own kind.

When the two of us finally got around to walking up to the portal I was stricken by the significance of the event...It had been two years since I set foot on Draenor...damn the Legion...I still had not gotten my revenge...

On the other side of the portal...

Shivala and I were both astounded by the sight on the other side...two years and the alliance and horde forces still did not control the portal base, the same pit commander that was there two years ago still held them at bay...damn demons. Shivala was smart enough to find us a ride via gryphon to Honor Hold..I would have much rather just stormed right through them. I spent the last of my hard earned coin on a map of Outland and a good warhorse..my father will have a fit. Shiv and I rode for some time, even on the horse she tried to keep her distance. Magic bless the elves but they just can't seem to trust anyone. After three areas and a hydra attack later we finally made it to our destination...Shadowmoon Valley. A felboar was nice enough to attack us and really got me good...it seems that it killed a messenger though that was carrying a letter about a demon hunter that passed through. Our destination is Wildhammer Stronghold, hopefully they'll know where to find Fala.

Shiv and I finally made it to Wildhammer Stronghold without being attacked for a third time, I must note that the amount of Legion activity was staggering, I would have thought that they would be somewhat under control. We found the gryphon master and questioned him about the note..seems it had been a private message and that the courier had met his untimely demise at the hands of a felboar. The dwarf's overall reaction seemed to support our original assumption that the mentioned demon hunter was indeed Falathorei. A comment from the dwarf asking whether or not we were troops making out way towards the southern bastion of the Black Temple or not gave us our next destination.

At the Temple...

Once we arrived it did not take very long to find our target, Falathorei was engaged in combat with some blood elves when we found him..although we did not get to assist..by the time we were in range they were already dead. The reunion was not a happy one as Fala informed the two of us that he would not be going back...going back without this demon hunter was not an option...The more we egged him on and tried to persuade the more enraged he became. A demon hunter angry is a sight few live to see..and it is truly a frightening one. I have faced the scourge and the Legion in my lifetime..but looking into the face of a transformed demon hunter is one time I truly feared for my life and wanted to curl into a little ball and cry...the sight is not for those weak of heart...Shivala shot an arrow poisoned with a sleeping potion into Fala's wing, it tore through the membrane and only served to anger him further..once he exited his transformed state he darted off into the darkness of the valley with inhuman speed...Even if I flooded my body to the limits with arcane there was no way I could catch up. So the two of us made our way back to Wildhammer.

This night passed swiftly in the valley, most of it admittedly because of the dwarf spirits. Early the next day both Shiv and I discussed where to go from here. She wanted to poison Fala and drag him back all the way to Azeroth, while I suggested subtle persuasion to make him come back, Shiv huffed and said that I was an idiot and only going to get myself killed if I bugged him. I grabbed my day pack and set out once again for the Black Temple.

Near the Black Temple...

As I neared the temple I spied a familiar figure coming in the opposite direction..Fala still did not look happy to see us so I decided to play docile. I passively raised a hand in greeting and simply stated that I was not there to try and convince him to come back. Just as I was about to speak more an infernal come down from the sky and almost -sensored- crushed me! Damn these demons...Immediately I focused on the task at hand and started to mutter an incantation before I could even fully see the target. Arcane lightning crackled and struck the infernal in the shoulder..a followup fireball took his head right off. Brushing myself off I turned back to Fala to continue the conversation. The demon hunter quickly informed me that if he saw me again he would not hesitate to kill me...I still haven't given up on Fala though...I just hope he sees the truth soon.

A few days later...

I've come to the conclusion that there is no reason to return to Azeroth, the whole effort against the Circus is falling apart at the seams..fighting them is useless as we are now..so I'm going to stay here and finish what I started two years ago. I threw on a simple pair of robes, grabbed a pack with a week worth of supplies, and my faithful longsword to head out and face some demons...Either the demons have gotten stronger since I left or I've gotten weaker...these tricky bastards let no one rest. I was attacked by a few imps along the road near the Scryer's building, those ones go down in a single hit though...my body aches, casting even the simplest spell is causes me pain. I may have hit the limit...I have to go on though..the Legion will pay..

I walked down the road from Wildhammer Stronghold and steeled myself to the possible fate that could befall me. I had somewhat taken Fala's advice to leave...but I sure as hell wasn't going to leave without thinning the herd. I stood at the crossroads that lead to Illidari Point and drew my sword..this was going to be a long day...

A few hours later...

The corpses of some imps lay at my feet, numerous small scratches, cuts, and burns had covered my body and shredded my robes..but I couldn't be happier. One target remained and I was nearing the limit of magical stamina. A wrathguard was walking along the road just a few yards in front of me, somehow it hadn't noticed me so I took that chance. Flooding my body with Arcane I sprinted for it and slashed at it's arm as hard as I could...damn thing just shrugged it off. It retaliated and slashed at my leg...I can feel my movements growing sluggish. With a swift kick to the chest it kicked me away...damn thing wasn't expecting to be hit by a blast of arcane though. He charged me and slashed to take my arm off...somehow I managed to parry it and retaliated by breathing fire in it's face. The magical fire burned away at it until it up and died with a horrible scream.

After the battle...

I staggered to my feet and looked around to see if that scream had alerted anyone else...and on an outcropping some 70 yards away sat Falathorei....just my day. I had reached the limit of both magic and body as he charged down the hill..move I said to myself...move!

Mercy...

To my relief Fala stopped just short of me and simply greeted me. "Mister Blackstone." He shared the advice of not engaging a wrathguard in melee combat and inquired as to what I was doing there. My appetite for revenge on the Legion was not yet satisfied..I suggested that he should join me in the killing but the courtesy only went so far as not killing me where I stood. He pointed north-west..out of the Valley and informed me that he had business of his own..before we parted ways I asked him what kind of demons I could expect up ahead. All manner of felguards, succubi, satyr, dreadlord, and a giant eyeball apparently lie ahead..this just leaves me with one question.

What the hell am I doing here?!
